  1. http://www.fanatix.com/news/newcastle-to-finally-secure-much-needed-striker-signing-583/ Newcastle United are battling with Fulham to sign Olympique de Marseille and French international striker Andre-Pierre Gignac, according to Mercato 365. Gignac did not show up for training this morning in Marseilles, and assistant manager Guy Stephan admitted that the forward had gone abroad to discuss a potential transfer with teams. Those are believed to be Fulham and Newcastle, with the latter the favourites after the Cottagers moved for Bryan Ruiz of Feyenoord. Newcastle have needed a striker ever since the departure of Andy Carroll to Liverpool, with none of Leon Best, Shola Ameobi, Peter Lovenkrands or Nile Ranger appearing likely to grab the 20 goals a season manager Alan Pardew craves. Perhaps Gignac is that man, but his shaky form for Marseille means Magpies fans ought to be cautious.
  2. http://www.wigan.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=253468 Wigan Athletic have turned a deadline day bid down for striker Hugo Rodallega, not from Stoke as previously reported but from Newcastle United. Lots of activity still ongoing and Latics boss Roberto Martinez hopeful of two more deals being completed today besides the Maloney transfer
  3. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_7140402,00.html Marseille have confirmed that striker Andre-Pierre Gignac is abroad negotiating a move away from the club. Reports have suggested that a host of Premier League clubs are keen, with Fulham, Everton and Blackburn all linked whilst Genoa and Olympiakos have also been mentioned. Marseille have not revealed who their striker is talking to, but confirmed he is set to leave. "I understand he is abroad," assistant coach Guy Stephan confirmed. "There are negotiations currently ongoing, but we need all three parties [two clubs and player] to agree. Maybe it will or will not happen." Marseille themselves are still in the market for a new striker ahead of Wednesday's transfer deadline. .

    Joey Barton

Please god, no. We really do need him around this season. What are the chances of him actually going there do you reckon? He did say that he wouldn't leave here unless it was to a Champions League club. No idea, just saw somebody wrote that skysports has reported that a deal was very close... but since there's nothing new in here I doubt it's true...

    Erik Pieters

First I was pleased with Pieters, then thrilled about Sissokho and now slightly disappointed with ending up with Pieters
  15. Does 'og' mean 'and' in Norweigan/Swedish/Danish? Danish I think Norwegian, and it means "and" 3 points to Frazzle. Congrats. I'm Danish, but it's the same in Norway and Denmark
  16. Does 'og' mean 'and' in Norweigan/Swedish/Danish? Haha sorry, but yes
  17. Africa Cup of Nations will be a disaster for us... Ba, Maiga og Tioté gone

    Joey Barton

Anyone knows what exactly Barton got booked for? Was it for holding on to Gervinho or for overreacting when Gervinho hit him?
  19. Think he did okay today, he'll get better...
  20. Selling Enrique is fair enough, he wanted to leave and he had 1 year left. But why not use Liverpools own negotiating skills (Torres/Carroll). Tell Liverpool they can have him when we got our new leftback (Peiters/M'Bengue). At least they could have waited until after the Arsenal game so we had a week to find a new leftback.
  21. If Jose was adamant that he was off and we got no offers over £5.5m, then while it's fair for Ashley to try for more, the market has decided that that is his worth sadly. I suppose you're right. It's just so f***ing irksome that those twats are splashing millions and millions on average players like Downing and Henderson and are getting a real bargain in Jose. I know circumstances are different in that Jose could leave for nothing next year, but even Wigan were able to get a good fee for Zog. Oh, bollocks to it all. I'm bitter. f***ing bitter. Same here...
  22. Quantity instead of quality seems to be the idea in Sunderland...
  23. Delighted, may not be the best striker around, but he's a decent 3rd or 4th choice and has scored som important goals for the club during his time here. Now get a new striker and let go of Lovenkrands and Xisco.
