You can't even hang a flag up at St. James' for all the fucking adverts, it's pathetic.
-
Following on from that I think it'd be mint to nick this one and just replace Marseille with Newcastle, easy as fuck.
-
My second team from Crete, this is in the Greek 2nd division.
-
Would this not just affect the smaller teams who need the sky moeny? I mean Man City/Chelsea would still be able to do what they do without the tv revenue? In terms of how this will affect teams I have no idea, in fact I don't think anyone has to be honest. This ruling has potential though, and whilst you're right in saying it won't mean much for the likes of Chelsea, but hopefully it could end up being good in the long term. Not only that but anything that's sticking it to those cunts at Sky is fine by me.

I dunno, Americans make pretty pictures and videos with all their attempts at copying football culture of their South American counterparts/Europe, but to me it seems so cheesy and fake. Not to mention that accent just makes it worse. I rest my case.
-
Hope this results in a lot less money to teams and an end to skys monopoly. Still very early doors really, but anything that means football clubs and sky are losing money is great news to me

It wouldn't be that bad if they'd just left the original lettering and then added the adverts either side. The new font just tops it off really, makes it 100% shit.

I agree with you, but that doesn't mean we can't lift the ban on allowing standing in the top flight. I'm sure the uptake would be low if at all to be honest, but it would be a start. If the bill passed I wonder what would happen though, given that so many fans are currently standing in areas that football clubs/councils are deeming dangerous areas - surely they'd be pressured into implementing safe standing? It's all guesswork really. I still remember when Chris Mort said he'd be in favour of bringing in safe standing if it was allowed, so who knows, maybe some clubs would be proactive in a cause that benefits the fans for once.
-
But standing is still in England and very much a part of the English game - in all leagues below the Championship. I think it's more than possible for standing to be brought back to the top flight, it won't be compulsary, the whole point is to allow clubs to have safe standing if they wish. I agree with your points about current stadiums not being able to incorporate standing, that's fair enough and I'm sure plenty of clubs wouldn't bother or wouldn't actually be able to have it in their ground without significant cost, but on the other hand it would then allow clubs who are building new stadiums to offer safe standing. Another example is grounds which don't have corners could easily be fitted with safe standing sections. Not only that but some clubs may look to it as a way of improving attendance - cheaper tickets, better atmosphere, it'd certainly make games more appealing for many fans who have been driven away by modern football and it's shit atmospheres and stupid ticket prices. In my opinion anyway. 145 MPs have signed the motion for Safe Standing....the bill is still ages away but there's a strong hope it will be brought back. In the meantime people will continue to stand infront of their plastic seats and enjoy the game, standing numbers are on the rise and it's fucking great to see.

Is it a case of offering that or us taking that though? I know under Ashley we have a tendancy to ask for smaller allocations at most away games so 3000 may just be what he wants? Also this is no doubt a new directive so hasnt affected previous games. Sure Man Utd we olny asked for 1800 or something last season. As for Sunderland.......well even toonultra can work out why that was only 2600 allocation this year Nah mate I checked before I posted, 3k is the allocation at Arsenal & Man United. Wasn't the reduced allocation at Sunderland for segregation? There was a big block of seats left empty that were used up last time, although I wouldn't be surprised if it was cut for standing because I've met the bloke from Sunderland council who's behind such measures. This whole thread has made me depressed if I'm honest, it took years for the progression from a handfull stood in the Leazes L7 all the way up to 3k in the corner. I go to the match for the atmosphere, take that away and I'd rather just watch it on tv as opposed to paying money I can't afford to have a matchday experience that I'd actually hate. I didn't renew because what seems to be happening at home games is exactly what I expected. I wish I was born 20 or so years earlier
-
I'm not so sure about us being forced to make the away end bigger mind. The emirates is a new 60k seater stadium yet they only offer 3k, as do Man United and Sunderland. So it's complete bollocks surely? Extending the family section, fair enough, can't really be argued with if you ask me - so long as it's selling out. I did doubt the rumour the section was closed because of Ashley, but given that fans then requested to move down to level 4 and then that magically became off limits AFTER season ticket renewals had been handed in is very, very dodgy.

Standing is allowed though, in all leagues below the Championship as well as rugby and other sports. It's a joke that somehow the 'quality' of the football is the measurement of whether you can stand to watch it or not. Regardless I still think during my lifetime I'll see standing brought back to top flight football, and considering the bill passed the first reading without anyone objecting to it then hopefully the cunts that run this country will allow it to pass, the argument is well in favour of bringing it back, it's only common sense.
-
There's a safe standing bill that's been introduced by lib dem MP Don Foster, it can be seen on the governments website here, and there's more details on the FSF website here. There's actually some hope this might go through but either way it's a very long and drawn out process so it'll take a while for us to find out.

I already have? That they're saying its the Toon Ultras and that this woman was apparently abused, when now I've read from 2 different people that she hasn't (one being from this thread).
-
Ah so you struggle to understand how a 'biased and one sided article' fits in with other incidents in that area? I am well aware that neither refer directly to the case in point but i had hoped to be speaking with someone not so thick as to see the connection. Well done though, you have backed that up with an equally stupid comment regarding moving the woman Yeah fair enough I did miss the point actually, I was fixated on the point I was trying to make - that it's seemingly lies about this old woman. Surely this means it's biased if what they're saying is outright lies? On the other hand consider the following that Blef posted on Facebook (I'm sure she won't mind me pasting this) In my mind this is a very biased and one sided article, especially since they use the name Toon Ultras. Not only is it factually incorrect but already it's stirring images in peoples heads of this being some sort of organized move by a big group of people with only bad intentions. There was no need to get insulting with your post, mind. Seems like you're a tad rattled.
-
How dare they make her move to another seat! Glad these cunts are getting banned from attending matches, hopefully they get lifetime bans.
-
Close the away section imo, can't have people standing infront of plastic chairs at SJP.
-
First quote is nowt to do with said woman, second quote says nothing about her getting abused. Next. Just to make it clear I'm only talking about the case of this one woman as thats the only one I've heard about, couldn't really comment on anything else
-
Also I just want to add, apparently this 80 year old woman hasn't recieved any of this apparent abuse, and in fact was the one pointing fingers and calling people names (believe it or not ) Take what you want from that, but personally I trust the lad that said that over an article that's so clearly biased and one-sided, not to mention ill informed (toon ultras were behind it? ffs )
-
Toon Ultras finished a few years ago, dunno why the fuck they're mentioned in that article and comments So fucking glad I didn't renew. Football is becoming a chore, our club has alienated thousands of it's own fans through these actions. What a shame, the Leazes Corner was seemingly the peak of my matchday enjoyment, so fucking gutted we won't see anything like that at SJP again, atleast not for a very, very long time.
