  1. Swansea and Southampton aren't that far apart with the way that they play, he claimed to have learned something against Swansea and it worked and lasted one week, one game. I understand that you have to have more about you than one game plan, that doesn't mean you have to abandon something every time you play a different team. We have good enough players to play the way we did against Man U and I think we would do well playing that way.
  2. You shouldn't really bother, you're not very good at it.
  3. The players only do what he tells them when it works, when it doesn't it's the players fault, I get it. And starting Shola doesn't point to us wanting to keep possession, it points to us playing the way that we did. Oh, so you're going down the "Pardew apologist" route because I'm defending him from ridiculous criticism today, despite the fact I was calling for his head not three months ago? Funnily enough the complete opposite of what you accuse me of is prevalent on this website - when we win it's in spite of Pardew, never because of him. I don't have a problem with starting Shola over HBA and I'm not sure why anyone else would when you consider the way both players have performed in recent week, the older Ameobi leading the line during wins again Chelsea, Norwich, Spurs and WBA. You still haven't told us what tactical masterclass you'd have thrown down today either. Howay man, enlighten me. Pardew was given nothing but praise between the Man U win and before the game today so I don't know how you can claim that we win it's in spite of him. It didn't need a tactical masterclass to win today so why do you keep asking for one. He found a way to beat Man U and abandoned it the very next game, is that too difficult to comprehend? As for you not having a problem with his starting Shola over Ben Arfa, that's your choice and not one that I share.
  4. At one point he was attacking on our left side then was defending on our right covering for Debuchy.

  6. I would have started with Ben Arfa instead of shola and I would have told the players to retain possession like we did against Man U. I've said that in the post that you replied to so I don't know why you have to even ask the question.
  7. How could he not have done much more today? We were pissed on by Swansea and he later admitted that we'd tried to play too direct so had told the players to play a possession game against Man U where we bossed the game and won. Could he not have done the same again today? It looks like Southampton had almost as much of the game as Swansea had and they were the away team. I can't believe that he came up with a way to beat Man U a week ago yet couldn't even carry that into the next game.
  8. I still don't understand why he came off before Remy.
  9. I was genuinely optimistic after the Man U game because I thought he'd had a eureka moment when he'd commented on playing too direct and commenting about keeping more possession. As soon as I read the starting 11 I knew he had just been talking shite and was reverting to type.
  10. I would love to see our current squad managed by a positive manager.
  11. I'll wait until I see it again as I thought he'd lost it well inside our half.
  12. Mistakes happen all of the time in football so I don't see how a mistake wasn't coming. Before we started to drop back the mistake would have been made further up the pitch and would have been less of a danger than it turned out to be.
  13. I'd only commented a few minutes earlier that we'd dropped back and were inviting them onto us.
  14. Defender making a mistake when the team sits back, that's hardly surprising.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

He made 2 poor decisions when he held onto the ball for too long, other than that he played well.
  16. He's just said Palace away will be a tough game, I'm sure he'll make it one.
  17. Garbage today, he gets credit for last week and nothing for today. starting Shola was a joke as was bringing Cisse on and taking Gouffran off.
  18. Disgusting if true as it means we're going direct rather than looking to keep possession. Hardly 'disgusting', Southampton average 57% possession this season- we won't beat them at their game, especially without Cabaye, our most comfortable player with the ball. We've looked good recently going direct, their defence is dodgy, particularly without Clyne and Boruc Maybe they are doing well because of the possession they have had and gifting them what they thrive on isn't a good idea.

We seemed to hammer Coventry a lot in those days, it was a game I always looked forward to watching because I always felt we'd see goals.

The photo doesn't look that old.
  23. Pardew said last season that one of our problems was having to play two teams a week, we didn't have to do that, it was his choice.

Agreed about the Leazes, the atmosphere was usually brilliant and that was helped by standing and not having loud music banging out before the game started.

    Andy Carroll

I agree with every word but didn't at the time.
