Pardew started it, he's got a cheek having a go at others for doing what he was one of the first to do.
-
What if he's still performing to the level that he is now, would he deserve a pay cut? I would think his next contract should be based around his level of play and also the probability of him going down-hill. Maybe his contract should reward him at the start and take into consideration that he'll start to decline as the years go on. I think it will work like that, my doubt is that they'll not reward him from the off and they'll look to cut his wages from day 1 of the contract.

I hope that we do bring in some good players, we'll struggle to get a better forward than the one we sold. I hope that Carroll breaks his leg every time he plays, I don't have a fantasy football team.
-
The wages Carroll was on haven't been mentionted by anybody at the club as being used in the summer.
-
The point I'm trying to get at is that some people feel we would have benefitted if we'd been fielding Carroll now and that's why they comment now. We might spend the money well in the summer and then it will be judged again at that time.
-
You seem to completely ignore that we'll not be spending £35 million. If we bring 2 players in on £40,000 per week then we'll have less than £7,500,000 each to spend on those 2 players.
-
Does £35 million buy you 3-4 players of Carroll's quality and pay the wages?
-
95% of owners may or may not have sold him, 100% of ours did sell him.
-
If we invest that money in the summer, what good will it have done us between the last transfer window and the end of this season?
-
You didn't need hindsight to know it was a mistake, some knew it was a mistake even before he signed, we should have gone for Anelka. And his worst signing was Souness, not Owen.
-
What would you call big wages? He might take a reduction to get away from Villa, I doubt he'd come down to a level which I think would match what he's probably be worth. He's worth nowhere near the £65k I've seen mentioned, I wouldn't give him a third of that.
-
He's done nothing for 2 years, he's not even worth bringing back next season on loan considering what he'll be earning if it's anywhere near what he's rumoured to be on at Villa. The baggage he brings can’t be forgotten either.
-
I thought Hughton had deserved at least this season but he wasn't perfect, that doesn't alter the records of him and Pardew.
-
The team had lost away to West Brom, you seem to forget that we'd also won away to Arsenal and Everton and hammered the team that relegated us and we thrashed the mackems. You also seem to overlook Pardew being allegedly lined up as least a month before he was appointed so the West Brom game was an excuse, not a reason. How do you know the club had no money? We signed Ben Arfa when we didn't have to, we could have spent that money on somebody who could have made a difference this season, instead of next season. As for Hughton's win percentage, this season his record is better than Pardew's when Cup games are taken into account. Hughton's win percentage here is better than anything Pardew has ever done at any club in any division.
-
I think we would have been slightly better off based on having kept Routledge and not wasted the transfer window chasing Irelend. I think we might have done better in the transfer window and gained from that and we would have probably had a better FA Cup run.
-
Here's another stat. Since and including Keegan was here the first time, Pardew has the 4th worst win percentage out of 12 managers. His record is worse than Allardyce, Roeder, Souness, Dalglish, Bobby, Keegan the first time, Hughton and Gullit. He beats Shearer, Keegan the 2nd time and Kinnear.
-
Get your head out of the sand, we spent most of the transfer window chasing an injured Villa player while either selling some of our players or sending them out on loan. The fact that only Kuqi has played is a joke and you don't seem able to see it.
-
Pardew had a say in the set of players he had to choose from, if they are worse then that should reflect on him.
-
Agreed but the crowd getting on his back was self inflicted, people lost patience with him as his mistakes were usually absolute howlers.
-
Bramble going was right, he was finished here, mainly because of people getting on his back but his mistakes were far too regular and costly in the end and I think he couldn't handle the pressure brought on by his mistakes. It wasn't just Allardyce who let him go, Roeder didn't offer him a new contract either.
-
Bramble had everything to become a great defender, everything except a brain. Towards the end of his time the errors he made were a lot more regular than before and he was a liability. I backed him for most of his time here but couldn't in the end because the cock up's were far too regular. Ireland though, he's been a massive mistake since he arrived. I hope that we don't compound that mistake by signing him beyond the end of this season on any terms.

As if we're in a position to attract the best in the league.

I forgot about the money, it was a shit post.
