Bobby would have taken Rooney, without a doubt and every other manager in the country would have taken him. Bobby wanted a centre-half more than anything and actually went to the chairman’s office expecting to be told he had one but got the sack instead. He didn't go expecting a forward or a midfielder because he didn't want either, even though we did bid for one of those positions.

Robson had little to spend early in him Newcastle career and stabilised the club, when he was backed financially he took the club forwards and when money became tight again the club stagnated and was overtaken by others. Dalglish was given 50% of what Bobby was given and he took the club backwards, Souness was given almost the same as Bobby and also took the club backwards, I'm talking 50% of what bobby was given in 5 years and almost the same as Bobby was given in 5 years, if money was going to be reduced for Dalglish and Souness than Dalglish would have been given £14.5 million over 4 years and Souness nothing.

So are you saying he needed less money because he was here longer?
  4. The chairman did say the same thing as Keegan.

Bobby had a net spend of less than £6 million per year, he had less to spend (net) per year than Dalglish, Gullit, Souness, Roeder and Allardyce. Justify that.
  6. If anybody is interested in a good read try here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Magnificent-Obsession-Keegan-Newcastle-Million/dp/074753750X
  7. That is the only book that I will never lend out as it might not come back, I really enjoyed reading it in one go from front to back without a break, I couldn't put it down.
  8. Wise may be going along to represent Keegan, good point and the only one which would actually fit with what others are speculating.
  9. I better take care what I say here so no.
  10. Wise may be labelled a director but in reality he's below Keegan, he's not entitled to be a participant to any kind of bollocking and it will not happen.
  11. He might enjoy that.
  12. The book is called "The Magnificent Obsession Keegan, Sir John Hall, Newcastle and Sixty Million Pounds," it's by Colin Malam.
  13. Obviously, if they didn't then they wouldn't have a story, I think they are far from impartial on this. If they have no story they'll just invent one to fill the same column inches.
  14. Ashley is a top businessman; he's hardly likely to invite Wise along to witness Keegan being asked "what the fuck he was on about." Mort has been quoted agreeing with Keegan, is he also going to get dragged in for a shafting? A lot of fans agree with what Keegan has said, are we going to get the same shafting? Some of our ex-players have come out and agreed with Keegan, are they going to be dragged in for a bollocking?
  15. We have nothing to worry about tomorrow, the way I see it Keegan will be told that he'll get the players and funding he needs. Wise will be told to go out and get them. Keegan will leave the meeting reassured and we'll move on from where we are. Ashley would not be inviting Dennis Wise if he was having a go at Keegan.
  16. Reading the thread title will narrow it down and then refresh a few times to see how quick the post count is increasing.
  17. I think that's scheduled in for tomorrow.
  18. Keegan was laughing at the end of the interiew, he was hardly heading towards the Tyne Bridge for a quick bath. Anyway I can't stop on here all night, I'll sleep easy tonight while others lie awake all night worrying over nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if Keegan is seeing Ashley tomorrow but I'll not read anything into it. Ashley broughtKeegan here 5 months ago because he felt that Keegan was the best man for the job, Keegan said he only came back because of Ashley, nothing will happen if they have a get together.
  19. I'm not being funny but I thing some people need to go and watch the interviews again. Keegan said that it wouldn't matter how much he was given to spend, it wouldn't make any difference. He didn't say anything against Ashley so why would he take that stance?
  20. I'm not bothered about what was said as it was a few harmless words which will not make the slightest difference to who we get through the door or how we do next season. If people want to get upset about these trivial comments then it's going to be a long hard life for some.
  21. You're right that he didn't have to make those comments but the comments he made are being blown totally out of proportion. We had at least one thread on here almost as soon as the interview was broadcast and people were reacting then seemed to calm down having seen the full interview. Now, days later we're getting the same reaction as originally made but some who didn't have a problem on Monday seem to have had a delayed reaction, it's comical.
  22. The media print this crap because they know they have a market for it, no other reason. We get what we deserve, if people just brushed it off and took no notice then they'd go elsewhere looking for others to have a go at.
  23. I don't see it that way, he's made a few comments and people seem to be falling over each other to create something out of nothing.
  24. That can't be right, it's not from the "Unnamed source."
