We didn't have to play today, the mackems were shite. I thought Owen was outstanding and closely followed by Beye who had another great game. The defence played well when required, Taylor did nothing wrong for a change and Harper had a good game although he had very little to do but he did something Given doesn't do, he came to the edge of his box to take the ball in the air. Enrique played well but needs to work on his forward play, he's got the important part of his game right but just needs to do a little bit of work over the summer. Our midfielders were not too bad but not too good when creating. Butt won plenty of the ball but his distribution was as shite as ever, his passing is a joke. Barton wasn't too bad, I thought he had quite a good game. Geremi was probably the worst of our 3 midfielders, I can't remember much going right for him. Up front Owen was class and I mean class, Viduka did very little and watching him try to turn is like watching an Aircraft Carrier trying to turn at sea. Martins had a good game and we missed him for 10 or 15 minutes when he went off as we had nobody to put the mackems under pressure for a while. The atmosphere was excellent from the home fans, the mackem fans were as bad as the team, they were shite and the wankers throwing coins want shot with shit, especially the mouthy bastard at the front of them. I hope he was caught on camera as he must have thrown a dozen after the final whistle, they were probably not coins anyway, they were probably metal washers.

You do know that it was the failed share issue that almost bankrupt the club and it was Newcastle Breweries who gave the club something like £500,000 to avoid it, don't you?

You could make something up, the only problem would be no matter how stupid you tried to be, it would never be stupid enough to reach the depths that they sink to naturally.
-
Erm what? You're kidding, aren't you?
-
Sorry, I forgot to forget, it probably didn't happen anyway and even if it did it'll be better than appointing football’s equivalent of Billy Smart.
-
Who is doing that?
-
It could have been a lot better, appointing Souness was the most ridiculous appointment I can remember, giving him £50,000,000 to spend was beyond ridiculous, it's bordering on insanity.

Well done to everybody for rescuing the thread.

The way you go on at times suggests if we do win something it'll pass you by until the day it happens while most people will enjoy the ride. Try and find something positive, you clearly think Keegan is a good manager so why not support the people who brought him back, if they screw it up then we can all have a go at them but giving them a chance isn't too much to expect. What has happened in the past is gone, try to enjoy the future.

I think everybody recognises the importance of backing the manager, as long as it's the right manager. Just because some people don't think pissing good money after bad is not the way to go doesn't mean giving a good manager money is a bad idea.
-
Why not wait and see instead of having a go about something which may not happen?

I thought Ashley was quoted as saying Mort went to him and said that they had to sack Allerdyce, or something along those lines, I might be mixing things up though. Edit. From the News of The World article "So when my chairman told me it was time for a change I knew it had to happen." http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/1301_ashley.shtml

We've spent loads of cash and it's won nothing so far although we've failed when the money has been given to the wrong person.
-
I thought that the timing was wrong, I've changed my mind since as players who I didn't rate are playing better than expected and Keegan will have more money to spend on our weaker positions now that he's had more time to work with the players he inherited.
-
-
Agreed, I still don't think Mort has done much wrong yet although we have no way of knowing what would have happened in Allardyce had been given more cash or we'd brought in somebody other than Keegan. A complete guess is that we would be no better off than we are now.

We nearly went bankrupt twice.

Beating Liverpool and Arsenal will not be that easy, Arsenal have the 2nd biggest ground and they both play in the CL every season, we need to get amongst them before we can even think about beating them and that will not be easy and will take time. At least we have the infrastructure in place to have a go.

We're a loss making club and have been for years.

I don't know what you're laughing at, the admin must have edited his post, wait a minute, scratch that.

I think the club should appoint the right manager, which we've eventually done, then we should back the manager the best way we can without putting the club in danger. If the right manager decides that he wants a £30,000,000 player or a £30,000 player then that's his decision and that's who we should go for. The manager should be told what his transfer budget is and then it's up to him to get the players he wants in to the club.

I'll make sure he's aware of your concerns as he clearly said that.
