  1. I agree, I might have to add this to the mistake thread if he comes here and looks good.
  2. For my own, I thought Allardyce was the right manager to take over from Roeder although I changed my mind early even though I didn't call for his head. I also thought Gullit would do a good job taking over from Dalglish, the others I've been spot on with. As for other things, everybody gets loads wrong; I rarely if ever predict the correct score although I don't do too badly with the actual results points wise. As far as players go, I thought Sibierski would be the pits but was proven wrong, he was a lot better than I thought and scored more than I thought. I was not keen on Smith but thought if he could go back to the player that played for Leeds then he'd do OK, I couldn't have predicted just how bad he's been. I didn't think Luque would turn out as bad as he did, I thought he was a players who would do OK with the right management, Keegan would have made a player out of him. I could probably add a lot more but don't have the time.
  3. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defend him. The point I'm trying to make is that both Roeder and Allardyce had easy starts, a luxury that Keegan didn't have.
  4. You can't compare the honeymoon period of Roeder and Keegan, if my memory is any good Roeder only played 1 or 2 top teams. I remember Chelsea but can't remember any others, Allardyce started off well, it didn't go wrong until he started pissing about with selection and different tactics for home and away games.
  5. I think Keegan will ask for a number of quality players, possibly 3 or 4 and I think he'll be given whatever he needs to get them in, I don't think he'll be told he's got £XXX to spend. It is more likely to be a number of players and they will be signed for whatever they cost, within reason. I think if Keegan goes and asks for Bentley, Carrick, player X and player Y then we'll go all out to bring them in.
  6. We did play better football and that's got to count for something, Keegan also had a hell of a more difficult first 10 games than Allardyce had a last 10 games. Ultimately results do count but the performances were enough to suggest that improved results were just around the corner, we just needed to get to some games which we had a chance of winning. Once we got to those games the players gained confidence. If we’d had an easier run of games to build a bit of confidence we might have got something from those harder games. I’d bet that the poor results would be improved upon if they’d came after a run of easier games with Keegan in charge.
  7. The money raised is now up to £151,967.17, amazing. http://www.justgiving.com/thesirbobbyrobsonfoundation

A fat left back, John Bailey.
  9. Really? If that's the case, what does this mean? http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=51433.msg1265622#msg1265622 I bet you that if we had bought 3 forwards we would have done a damn sight better
  10. You're not from Seghill by any chance are you?

  12. You've agreed with NE5 who wants forwards then asked for 3 midfielders, a defender and 1 forward.
  13. I knew Kenny well, we went to school together and played for the same football team, he was one of my best mates until my parents moved house.
  14. I really can't call it other than going for a home win, if we score early and have a good go at them we could do really do well, especially if the crowd get behind the team in a big way. I can't wait for this game but as you say, it could end up being of lower quality.
  15. If Kenny had a go at Foster he would have had good backup, his older brother was a canny boxer (obviously not the 4 legged kind).
  16. I hated going to Luton, it was one of the worst days out.
  17. The hijacking was to do with your bored comments, the thread is about Full backs next season. How would 3 forwards have improved the team if they were getting the poor service that our current forwards have been getting? And as has been said, who would we play in defence if we hadn't brought in Beye, Enrique, Faye, Rozenhal and Cacapa? You seem to forget that we got rid of Onyewu who was only here on loan, Bernard has gone along with Babayaro, two players who were never fit and we've got Carr who is rarely fit enough to play, add Bramble and Moore to the list of those we had but have gone. Do you really think that we didn't need to bring in defenders? We needed defenders and we brought them in, we lost Sibierski and replaced him with Viduka, a better player but one who isn't playing enough games because he can't seem to get fit enough, we also brought in Smith, a player who you rate but one who has proven to be totally shite but at least numerically we increased what we had up front. We lost Nobby, Parker and Dyer, we only brought in one player who has struggled until recently and Geremi, a player who has probably had his better years behind him. I struggle to see how you can make the kind of statements that you’re making and you’ve been saying the same stuff for the best part of 2 seasons. Have you got a link to where I made that comment about Bentley?

I'll leave that to you, I also understand that he could see it as being offensive, I just don't think it would be an automatic reaction.

Did I miss something? It is late.
  20. With a bit of luck we'll forget the bad times once Keegan gets the players we need.

He might see it for what it is and laugh, nobody is advocating that anything the KKK does is right, they are rightly known as a horrible bunch of thick evil bastards.
