They are the most "one man team" you will ever see. The rest of their squad is made up of very average players and even some of their better ones have been fighting relegation battles recently. People will say "well Bentancur and Kulusevski are good players", aye well so are Palinha and Mitrovic but I'd be annoyed if Fulham finished above us.

A disappointing window according to some but that's because we didn't sign the players in the position THEY prioritised.

Honestly, Villa look a mile more appealing than Spurs, for example. Much more balance and depth. Neither us nor Villa should be finishing below Spurs. It's a real bone of contention for me that anyone can think Spurs have a better first team or squad than either of us.

It was 2 more including Livramento, who he obviously didn't want to be drawn on.... although he said he liked the player so that's as good as done.

We are better than Spurs and therefore should be getting more than what they get. Let them cry.

It can't be understated how important it is that we are signing versatile players: Gordon RW, LW, 10, ST Barnes RW, LW, 10 Tonali, DM, CM Livramento RB, LB, RW? We aren't signing one position, we are covering a range of areas.

Interesting that Livramento seems a very different type to Trippier. Where as Trippier wants to dink passes or play in triangles, this lad looks to want to burst past players. Another physical specimen. Good stuff.

Seems we are probably suffering a 5m tax on the young English players we are signing. Gordon = 40m Barnes = 33m Livramento = 30/35m Would have all been much more accurate prices for position and age of said players. It's been a looooooong time since Newcastle United have started hoovering up quality British/Irish players and I'm all for it. Let's hope we aren't done.

Yeah that's my issue here. This narrative that Dan Burn is a poor left back. He was probably top 3/4 left backs in the league last year. Unless we are signing someone like Joao Cancelo or Theo Hernandez, I really don't see the issue. I'd rather wait for a proper world class left back who would instantly improve us, than take a punt on players who might be better going forward. The "going into games against real madrid" arguement is a daft one too. Literally cherry picking the hardest side in Europe we could face. If that's the case, we need a new right back too because Trippier might struggle with Vini Jr.

I don't want us finishing below Spurs and Villa. Therefore 6th place is the target. Chelsea and Man United should be in our sights too.

All I read there is; "If we don't sign the players I want, I won't be happy." We HAVE improved. We ARE improving. We are MILES ahead of where anyone with half a brain thought we would be. We don't have a perfect 11 or squad is what you are basically saying, which is absurd.

I don't necessarily disagree with you but it's not clear cut and that confirms my point about Spurs.

It's such a simple concept. It's getting painful having to point this stuff out. We are ahead of ourselves.

This thread just shows, no matter how exceptional your success has been and how far your club has come, some people just aren't happy and never will be. Give certain individuals the opportunity to be negative rather than positive and they will always choose the former and then hide behind "just telling it how it is". We finished 4th last year and have improved. There's absolutely nothing to say we won't finish top 6 this year. Which, for me, would be a good season.
