Personally i think we are nowhere near that point. Let's say the season does turn to shit and we finish midtable, I still won't see that as justification for sacking Howe. It's not because I lack ambition, it's because I think I see the bigger picture. Howe has shown what a superb manager he is (or can be) and also what a superb fit he is for our club. Does it mean he should get 20 chances? Of course not but I'd happily give him another season, provided he's given a chance to freshen the squad again. Part of me feels that a big sale of a player and reinvestment across the team would be a good thing. It's all gone a bit stale... but I don't doubt Howe for a second. Also, just to make clear, me having such faith in Howe is in no way saying I think he's perfect. I've said previous that I think he needs to have a plan B and change the dynamic of our midfield. I think the mistake some often make is assuming that the next manager doesn't come with a whole new set of flaws and even worse, what if they are a cunt who gets the fans backs up? It won't last. Howe isn't a cat and shouldn't have 9 lives but he should be given at least a couple IMO.

I think we could, yes. Sacking Howe won't work, that I'm sure of. I've seen it all before. The key is to keep your good managers and sack the shit ones.
-
I think getting rid of Howe would be a disaster. Get behind him. Stay in the mix for a European push and back him in January with a couple of key signings.
-
We are a decent side with a couple of big flaws. Sort out pace at the back and a proper DM and we are laughing. I know we need a RW but I don't think it costs us games in the same way as above.
-
Our best goal of the season. Played out from the back beautifully.
-
He's 21, and one of, if not the most exciting young full back breaking into the national team. 30m is peanuts. The only issue is our lack of spending power else where. That's something that club can only deal with in the long term.
-
He wasn't shite. He wasn't even expensive for a striker at 25m. Forest got a bargain at 17m or whatever. So yes, it kind if does change it.
-
Yep. Never learn.
-
If he was a puppy the vet would have put him down ages ago. Such a shame because he can be a massive player for us.

The next transfer window has the ability to make or break our season, our last transfer window almost broke it, this window needs to fix it. I know people like to get into the ins and outs about what position and who but ultimately I think the fans (and team) need a lift. For whatever reason our club seems to crave a star signing or two to keep the flame alight. If we can pull an exciting attacking player out of the bag in January, I think we will go on a run at some point.

The forum is losing more and more of its more balanced members, who are fed up with the relentless drivel coming from certain people. We've even had a couple delete their accounts. It's a shame because the admins do a really good job but they can't choose who comes in.

That sounds like a good idea in theory but I've made several posts highlighting the ridiculousness of several posters who have continually blamed Howe for everything from injuries to transfer policy, the same people were doing the same thing the season we finished 4th. These cowards start their posts with "I'm supportive of Howe but..." and then carry on with all the reasons they aren't supportive. It's the easiest thing in the world to be the most negative cunt in the room. It would be like me spending the last 4 days talking about the subs I didn't agree with on Saturday, and what? What would be the point? He's still the best manager since SBR and I've yet to hear one viable alternative. There's people who talk like (I'm convinced believe) they know more about this game than Eddie Howe. They don't. I suppose that's fine because it's a football forum and we are hear to chat, right? What would be the point otherwise? Well I guess there is a way of doing it that doesn't sound so mental.

His dip in form (along with a couple of others) is a lesson to me about having doubts about players. Next time he goes through a tricky spell I know that the answer is to play through it. Get Isak on a new deal and that can secure our future, then we can concentrate on adding to the squad.
-
Champion, a new manager now and we are sorted.
-
At home I'd love to see: Isak Barnes Gordon Joelinton Bruno Tonali
-
We need more of you. That said Howe's subs were shambolic.
-
Taking him off was a shocking decision.... He'd moved more central too and was playing really well. Then Bruno went off and I was even more perplexed. Perhaps it's because they'd played for their countries? Still wouldn't have taken them off. Isak would have been first off.
-
Not spent about a billion quid though have we.... And on and on and on. Mindless.
-
Half? Your opinion on Howe barely represents 10% of what actual fans think.
-
Mate, don't do it to yourself. Get down the pub and have a bit crack with some newcastle fans. Don't waste your time in here, certainly on this topic.
-
Now, now, no excuses allowed. Losing a game of football, regardless of circumstances = sacking.
-
Sack Arteta. The only solution.
-
Aye sandros having a nightmare... clowns.
-
Tonali has done fine. Not his fault that there is a chronic lack of pace in defence and Isak isn't playing well at all.
