  1. Creating chances and scoring goals isn't an issue with Eddie Howe sides and never has been for us (barring the odd little spell). Having a solid defence and balanced midfield is more of a likely issue and if feels like we've turned a corner in that regard (since Tonalis inclusion and the Brazilians getting up to speed). Against City I never really felt like they would get a winner and Everton didn't get near our goal for most of the game. We drew away from home, kept a clean sheet and dominated the game. We are fine. Also, as absolutely shite as Everton are, they will get a couple of big scalps this season and I'm pleased we aren't one.
  2. I don't think that's "training" so much as muscle building. He might not even be sprinting yet. Great to see the big fella though.
  3. A reminder that this man achieved this 90 minutes of utter joy, which we hadn't seen in 20 years or more. He did it with Longstaff, Almiron and Burn in the side. He manages this club with class, intelligence and dignity. So when match days come around and you don't like the teamsheet or the way the match plays out, remember, he knows more than me or you and has earned the right to manage this club and make mistakes. When I look around the rest of the PL and see the other managers, there's nobody I'd trade him for (ok I'd have Pep but fuck you). He's absolutely fantastic and call me a Howe fan boy all you like, because that's exactly what I am.
  4. So pleased Coming Home Newcastle is back.
  5. Never easy breaking down 11 behind the ball. They will get tired. Keep going. Perhaps switch some positions. Move Willock as a number 10.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

You know what I wish? That someone had spotted Mbeumo 6/12 months ago. I don't think there was a fan in the world thought he was a good player back then... not a single person. Certainly not anyone with a name being with K. Feel like this board is missing someone who could feed us knowledge on any African based players, it's certainly missing someone who could hammer the point home every 5 minutes and let some of us know that we are fat and lazy. Alas, can't have everything.
  7. Isaac Hayden would struggle to get a game for Wimbledon. Honestly, why does this keep coming up? Do people remember Hayden? I don't like talking shit about players but Hayden was barely PL quality at his best, let alone now.
  8. Sorry mate. You just never know.
  9. This argument doesn't wash when he's had 3 years and they've looked worse each year. He could have Man Citys eleven, they'd still look shite.
  10. Also nowt wrong with using a first choicer for 30 minutes at the end. With the team above, we really shouldn't be struggling.
  11. I wouldn't be playing Bruno for this. Just feels so unnecessary. I know Eddie takes the cups seriously but we really need to rotate. Dubravka Tino Krafth Kelly Hall Longstaff Tonali Willock Miggy Osula Barnes Get Barnes, Hall and Tonali subbed off when the game is won.
  12. Walcott comparing Palmer with Bergkamp is frighteningly stupid. They are both great players but there aren't even remotely similar IMO. Just lazy punditry.
  13. While fair enough on finding someone who thinks it wasn't a pen, I don't agree with Shearer on many things. Fair enough, you won't be swayed.
  14. Can't be comparing this with Gordon yesterday? There's so many differences.
  15. I promise you I wouldn't. I can also promise you that I'm a hypocritical cunt. In all seriousness, I can't even remember the Jota one.
  16. Also let's say Gordon had jumped over the keeper and the ball had now ran into a tight angle and he missed, you are saying that's fair? So what's going to happen next week? Goalkeepers are going to throw themselves at everything knowing that the striker is now massively disadvantaged. 95% of players do exactly what Gordon did and rightly so. Again, I'm not saying that I don't understand your frustration with the modern game but that's not really the discussion. The question is whether it was a penalty. It was.
  17. But it was a penalty and has always been a penalty. You not thinking it was a pen, doesn't make it not a pen. I get sometimes in football there are "could go either way" situations, like the Joelinton one. This isn't that. I'm surprised anyone that watches football thinks it's not a penalty. Also @LFEE this is PL football. It's not mates having a kick about. We can all talk holistically about how we'd like to see football. It's irrelevant, it's a a million miles from the game we want. If you say "I wish it wasn't a penalty", no issues, in fact I'd agree.
  18. Aye it was brushed off on Tnt. In fairness, I don't want players sent off for that but we were done for Schar doing fuck all first game..
  19. Of course it was a pen. Even if the keeper didn't touch him it's a pen. You can't go launching yourself at the ball without winning it and forcing the attacking player to, at minimum, take evasive action. Who cares if Gordon played for it? It's not relevant in a football conversation in 2024. Pep admitted it was a pen. Lescott said it was a pen. It was a pen. It really sounds like some of us can't enjoying anything at times.
