I was thinking that too. Straight into the deep end against the Mackems, with the arm band. One of the few players who i think could handle the pressure. he seems like a good candidate, was having the captaincy conversation in the pub and there didn't seem to be any decent candidate, nolan would seem like the best choice If Beye was a couple of years younger he would be the outstanding guy but right now we need a Barton or Nolan.

Still think he's a decent youngster, even if he is a knobhead. -
I forgot about the captaincy as well, I say give him the armband straight away, we've got nobody else to wear the thing. I was thinking that too. Straight into the deep end against the Mackems, with the arm band. One of the few players who i think could handle the pressure.

Amen to that. Technically he maybe fairly average but he is a battler and can force the game onto the opposition. Added to that he is a captain and a penalty taker (should we ever get one). This isn't a good signing because he's a great player but a good signing because he's a good player at a resonable price.

Of course we did..... Mike Ashley's pie fund.

Don't particularly rate the lad, Lee "yellow card" Cattermole perhaps. -

I wish we had signed Pennant on loan, so we could have moved Jonas out to left for the remainder of the season. That would have improved things vastly for us. -
There was a day when big clubs would have been courting N'Zogbia and i wouldn't have wanted him to leave but that was a long time ago. His attitude isn't good enough if he wants to achieve his potential, therefore i don't care who we sell him to. Fine him to make up the transfer fee we have lost because of his winging.
-
The only way i can see us bidding 10m for Veloso is if we have let Given go for 14m, therefore we are making a profit if we sign him. I don't believe for a second Ashley's decided to "loosen the purse strings". We won't sign Veloso but in the short term i don't think he would have made an "impact" anyway.

I prefer Butt. Say what you want about him but he's definately a fighter who gives his all. People say the same about nolan but i really don't agree. He has a decent shot on him but other then that, he offers nothing else. He's also extremley slow and about a half a stone overweight. He's the sort of player that rarely gets involved in play but might come up with a decent shot on goal now and again, then go back to doing nothing. I trump you Jermaine Jenas.

I'm desperate for this to go through. Everytime i have seen Bolton play at SJP Nolan has been the one constant thorn in our side, he's got a brilliant no nonsense attitude which we are desperate for. He's certainly not a flair player but he will hang at the edge of the box and chip in with a few, as well as fight the fight in midfield.

I think Smith might have a few decent games for us this season. If he aint going nowhere, we need to get behind him.
-
If we show the same passion as we did against them in the home game then we are capable but they have an incredible amount of talent. I hope Robinho is locked up for this one.
-
Come on boys lets get behind them. We might get a hiding but we can make up for it against the mackems next weekend.
-
Either its a media ploy so we can get more money or we are TRYING to show a bit of ambition by keeping Given.

In the other thread mate.

He is the weakest member of our first team, him and Butt. Bullshit. Absolute unfounded bullshit. Soz like, but it's my opinion. Which bit? Enrique or Butt? Please don't tell me you rate Butt, i might cry. -

Exactly. Even if we have a replacement lined up for Enrique, we should still be keeping a hold of him to at least have some depth. However, i still think we are one experianced centre half short. -
TBF, the one thing you normally get from African/French is a bit of physcial battle, hopefully he has the brain (like Beye) to play at this level. Completely agree with the transition view though, fergie has been the master of this down the years.

I'd rather take bloody Gary Caldwell back. -
With our "say fuck all" policy, we could have signed ten players and noone would know. If reports are correct it should be a done deal soon but nowt is simple with us.
-
I remember how bitter Bolton fans were about Guthrie and saying they were not sad to lose him, he's been a good player for us.
-
its m'bia, kinnear still wants him How do you know that?

Is he any good? -
Kinnear reckons he will be here today, and training tomorrow. Probably the Sunderland game on Sunday. Source? All I have seen Kinnear say is that "Talks have been going very well regarding Albin, and we are working hard to make sure he comes to Newcastle." No timescale, and no guarentee he will come here full stop. The Journal had quoted Kinnear saying he expected Ebondo to be in Newcastle today and training "straight after".
