  1. Jarque to Spurs ........... could be completed in the next day or two if things run smoothly. Also early stages of a big name with a big fee to go with it. Bound to be in the rpress in the next couple of days. Jarque I'd be delighted about. The other one? Even if it happens (which I doubt), I've got massive reservations.

    Defoe anyone?

Who are you talking about? You're not talking about Defoe, that's for certain!
  3. Spurs never bid for Woodgate, just asked if he might be available, just like the enquiry about Taylor. Boro have got competition for Fred, the Lyon President is at WHL now. How do you know all this? My sister in law told me. She works at WHL.

  5. Comments above Sadly, aside from Toon matches, Spurs and Arsenal are probably the teams I watch the most, living in London and having lots of mates who support both. It’s one thing taking players from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester reserves (and even that has very limited success – see Smith, Babayaro, Geremi and even to a lesser extent Duff and early days Butt), but taking players who are rejects from a team below us in the league is unfathomable. None of them would offer anything extra. I can see why people say Defoe but if we’re going to spend £7-10m on a striker there is so much better on offer – Fred & Ashton are both players I’d rather see us spend that sort of money on. Defoe is a one trick pony who is nowhere near as young as people think (will be 26 this year) and will only get worse as he loses his pace a la Owen. I really hope we are slightly more inventive with who we look to buy than just taking chuck outs like this. I know we can’t aim for the very top drawer players but the least I would expect is to go abroad / to the lower leagues and try and pick up a gem rather than punt on average players we know will never be the best. Spot on! Chimbonda's departure will be mourned by some but, defensively, he has gone a long way backwards this season. At Wigan he made the PFA Team of they Year. This season you could count on 2 hands who is better than him and still need an extra finger or two. Defoe is, as you say, a one trick pony, a poor man's Michael Owen. 'Arry wants him and that's my hunch for where he finishes up.

  7. Whey the Arse fans don't seem to want to let him go so could be canny. Wouldn't pay any more than they did for him though. Anyone know what that was? The scum paid £2m for him, he's for sale at £3.5m. Villa, Everton and City are keen on him as well as Pompey and yourselves.
  8. I'd get in for Defoe if he really was available. Good shot, pace and fair close control. Defoe says he wants to stay in London, wants to stay with Spurs and earn a contract better than the one that is on the table which he refuses to sign. All the signs of another scumball-style Bosman tbh.
  9. No, I had no idea he was an option. Apparently he hasasked for 2 or 3 days to think about it as his wife is pregnant, he is keen but she less so. Of course, the quicker answer to the situation is Fergie is getting a nudge to make a bid. One I did call was Diego, German media are apparently reporting that we've made a bid of £13m. If that is true, I think the price might have be upped a bit! Of course he couldn't of just rejected the move as he wanted a bigger club than yourselves or just to stay at the club he loves, it had to be the his wife said no. In spite of Walter Smith said, I've been told that Hutton moving to Spurs is still better than 50/50. Now being widely reported that Rangers have asked Hutton to reconsider as they need the money! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/scotland/article3149730.ece Rangers put pressure on Hutton to agree on his Spurs move Graham Spiers Rangers are pressing ahead with plans to sell Alan Hutton to Tottenham Hotspur for £8 million, despite public noises to the contrary from Ibrox, and in spite of the player’s initial reluctance to leave Glasgow for White Hart Lane and the Barclays Premier League. Sir David Murray met Hutton yesterday morning in Edinburgh and the Rangers chairman is understood to have made it plain to the Scotland defender that the Tottenham offer made good sense for both clubs and the player. There has been exaggerated talk of what Hutton will be paid in terms of wages by Spurs, though he can still expect to earn almost double what he is currently on at Ibrox - believed to be around £10-12,000 - if the deal goes through. Rangers have asked the 23-year-old to rethink his initial rejection of the move, and the player is now reconsidering his position. Hutton could be a Tottenham player by the end of this week, with Rangers even ready to offer the player a financial inducement to go as part of the transaction. The Ibrox club are happy for Hutton to leave because they feel that an offer of £8 million – with the possibility of a Tottenham player, maybe Wayne Routledge, being thrown into the deal – is too good to turn down. Moreover, in Steven Whittaker, a natural right back, Rangers also have an able player – and, arguably, a better defender – ready to fill Hutton’s position. Hutton is now suspended for two matches, starting tonight in Rangers’ rearranged Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash against St Mirren at Love Street. Asked about the Hutton situation yesterday, Walter Smith, the Rangers manager, was forced to choose his words carefully. “Alan’s initial indication to us was that he has turned [spurs] down, that he wants to stay here,” Smith said. “So that’s where we are right now. “When you look at clubs at the present moment, there is the financial aspect and the football aspect to consider. Everybody knows the Rangers financial position isn’t what it was a few years ago, but no one at the club wanted to lose Alan. From a football perspective, nobody wanted him to go. “But when you get offered that type of money, then you are in a situation where, from a financial point of view, it is acceptable. As I say, nobody wants to lose Alan from a football perspective - and I include the chairman in that – but sometimes the financial part can overtake everything. That’s the reason why the offer was acceptable as a bid. In the meantime, though, we are delighted if Alan has decided to stay.” Smith, nonetheless, is in an awkward position in terms of the Hutton saga. The Rangers manager would receive quite a hefty chunk of the Tottenham fee for his own recruitment purposes during the January transfer window, with Rangers suddenly being able to spend an extra £3 or £4 million over the next 23 days of business. By his own admission, Smith wants to improve his squad. “If we can find a player whom we feel is better than those we have at the present moment, then we will endeavour to go for him,” Smith said. “In fact, we’ve already gone for one or two players and been knocked back, so we are interested in improving the team. But I’m not going to sign a player just for the sake of it. “If we had positions where I felt we were weaker, then obviously I’d take a player to try to help us. But I feel that we have a fairly big squad of players, and if we can’t get anyone of better quality in, then we won’t sign anyone.” Meanwhile, Smith said that Stevie Smith, Rangers’ highly regarded left back who has been out of football for a year with a pelvic injury, is now back in full training and ready to return to the team. “He’s had a tough time of it but is doing very well and is now back to full training,” the Rangers manager said. “I certainly hope we can see Stevie back in action by the end of this month.” Also being reported in the Scottish press although th Scottish Herald says that Walter Smith won't get any of the transfer fee to spend. The last I heard was that Spurs were hoping to get it done tomorrow.
  10. A little off topic but who was it who hadnt even sgined for Birmingham but criticised the training methods during a trial...cant remeber. Hossam Ghaly, we're still trying to offload the cnut. It looks like he'll be going to Derby on loan in the next week or two.
  11. Spurs bid €13m for Tiago http://www.ojogo.pt/23-320/artigo680876.asp Don't know how reliable the site is, may be the Portugese version of TribalFootball.
  12. Absolutely nothing. Jarque is the CB whose name I hear the most, Maduro has cropped up a few times from different people but he's more defensive MF than CB, although comfortable there. Ajax won't let both Maduro and Emanuelson go in the same window. Emanuelson is keen on the move, Spurs have had a bid turned down and Ajax say Maduro will go before Emanuelson (more money). Can't say I'm not confident any of them will make the move this window. Still no official word from Spurs that they have signed Chris Gunter from Cardiff, but he did feature on the official site on Friday when they did pics of the first team squad training!!

  14. SSN are saying Manure have now bid for him. Oh well, c'est la vie.

  16. Don't you get bored of talking s****? You obviously don't live in Bulgaria.
  17. Think it's a another place that could have been filled by an English kid but isn't. I'm not going to criticise Blackburn because they do their bit to give young English players a chance.
  18. I still have seen nothing to convince me that NUFC would be better off with a change of manager. It could be thought of again at the end of this season but I believe therre will be enough happening by then to think that progress is being made.
  19. Berbatov's agent has apparently just been interviewed on Bulgarian TV. He said no-one is saying Berbs is leaving. In the Sun interview he just said what he has said in the past and what he and Levy had previously agreed - IF an offer from a big club came in, they would sit down and discuss it rather than just refuse it. Seems like the Sun were trying to make it into a new story............ no surprise there then. Also, there is no release clause in Berbs contract. There were talks for extending Berbs contract several months ago but when his agent insisted a release clause be included, Levy refused, so they stopped negotiating. Dantchev also said BIG club means really big - there are 6,7 such clubs in Europe and most of them already have 3,4 quality strikers, there are perhaps only 2 or 3 big clubs that might be interested in signing him. All Dantchev wants is if any offer comes, it will be discussed seriously, and Levy has already agreed to that. Dantchev also said Berbatov costs much more that what Spurs paid 2 years ago and a serious offer should reflect that. No doubt there is someone here Bulgaria based who will be able to confirm all this. Also, Ajax have said they are in advanced stages of discussions to sign Michael Lumb for Aarhus. His signing would then enable Urby Emanuelson to make the move to WHL. Ajax originally said UE would not be sold but the player has told the club that he wants to leave for Spurs. It would seem that Wipey's days are numbered.
  20. Compared to Robinson, Jussi is still an upgrade right now.
  21. Honest question. Does anyone really, seriously think there is any chance Berbatov will sign for Newcastle? Given what he has said (his agent said, but there must be truth in it) about Spurs in the last couple of days? Incidentally, FWIW, I'd have thought a Charlie Big Bollocks, arsey, petulant teenager of an overpriced striker would be the last thing you need at the moment in any case. From what I've heard I don't think Berbatov will be going anywhere........... or many others for that matter. The cull will probably start in the summer when the fresh faces have been recruited. The Bolton GK, Diego, Lassana Diarra and Boro's Adam Johnson are all on the radar as are 2 central defenders
  22. Will the club be renamed The Tesco Toffees?
  23. Have to agree, for quite spells in the game I thought Villa were poor. More disconcerting was that almost throughout Spurs were worse. The only surprises were that the score was only 2-1 and Villa took so long to get the winner. Maybe the saving grace is that Ramos and Poyet have accepted it was crap irrespective of the close scoreline and their threatening wholesale changes. I know there at least 2 players that Ramos wanted who Levy has decided are too expensive even though Ramos and Comolli were ok with the fees. The three of them have a meeting in the morning, I'm hearing Ramos isn't in the mood to be fobbed off!! One thing I would say about Villa. I think they're a more complete team than Man City, I can see Villa finishing in 5th ahead of Everton and City and it wouldn't surprise me if they finished ahead of Liverpool as well. Been impressed most of the season.
