  1. Fucking Steven Taylor, what a fucking moron. Well done, Coloccini.
  2. How does Shola continue to get games, man? It's the biggest mystery of them all.
  3. It's been a decent start. We're pressuring them well but we're not looking too mobile up front. Same story, really. Cabaye hasn't really had time on the ball so far because we're launching it up too often.

    Alan Pardew

I'll also say that he's operating under a more continental style of management, where he selects the team but the incomings and outgoings are handled by a different group of people. And because of his record and the way he generally talked in the past, I think it's to our benefit that his management is limited to team selection. He's not an Alex Ferguson-type who has contacts and scouts throughout Europe and South America, and is willing to sign players from abroad to complement his team. Pardew strikes me as the type that wouldn't have heard of someone like Ronaldo before Man Utd spent 12m on him, and that's quite damning for someone who is in the footballing world. It's as damning as Shearer not knowing who Ben Arfa was before he signed for us.

    Alan Pardew

Well, Ashley has as much right to argue to Pardew about the team as us fans do, and I'm pretty sure most of us think that Pardew's made mistakes with team selection and tactics in the past. That's not to say we're smarter and thus would be a better manager than he is, but I think it does say that football's not some esoteric thing where only a few are privy to the keys to a successful team. For what it's worth, I think the direction of the team i.e. our style of play and the type of players that we are signing, are being imposed on Pardew. Pardew has never spoken about fast, quick players playing good football and he's never been able to get his teams to play that kind of football. His WH team was good for a while, but they weren't a particularly good team to watch. And obviously he failed at Charlton. I also think that if some of these signings weren't imposed on Pardew then he'd be after top-four rejects. His transfer record is pretty much like the average British manager, where his focus and knowledge of players is quite limited to the UK.
  6. That Liverpool team is pretty weak, imo. The center of their midfield isn't good enough, and I'll repeat what I've been saying for 6 months: Carroll will struggle to play alongside Suarez. If Suarez doesn't perform, this Liverpool team is fucked.
  7. Suarez is the key to their season. If he gets fucked, they're fucked.
  8. They're not wealthy but they're smart to know that they need to qualify for the CL. If they don't then they're fucked long-term.
  9. Me too, bro. I am positive as hell. Wake up after noon tomorrow, chill, gym for a bit, some Japanese for dinner then it's football all night
  10. Ba Jonas Vukcic Obertan Tiote Cabaye would be exciting to see. But if Barton plays, I could see Ba Jonas Obertan Cabaye Barton Tiote which would also be a decent team. We have a good chance to start the season well.
  11. Like trying to rescue a hostage in CS, this. Impossible to do it quietly.
  12. Woke up thinking the match was today. Love me some public holiday
  13. Why does he have no chest hair?

    Hatem Ben Arfa

His injuries aren't chronic, is what I'm saying. They're different and unrelated to each other, which is why it's not a concern. I know everyone's on edge these days so we're all prone to some exaggeration/doomsday-type talk, but he'll be fine and we'll be fine. It's just frustrating that our squad hasn't been strengthened enough to be able to cope with injuries to him and other key players, even though the opportunity was there.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Breaks like these are random injuries. Yes, he's the type of player that invites challenges, but so are most dribblers. He doesn't have a history of injuries, and these bone injuries are random. I'd be more worried if he had persistent muscular problems a la Kieron Dyer, who could never got over the issues, or Owen, who had surgery which changed his game completely because he didn't have the raw pace anymore. This will all be forgotten when Ben Arfa gets fit and plays 30 matches this year.
  16. That Germany team is so good right now. They are loaded. Kroos, ozil, gotze. Fuck me. And Gomez is looking like his old good self again.
  17. The meme 'what is this I don't even' was created for shola and his career.
  18. Edging closer to American sports stars salaries now. In a few years 400k/week will be the norm for the best players in the world. Football is a growing industry. More and more money is being poured into it. Merchandise sales rise year after year, as is broadcasting revenue. Revenue in general will rise by a shitload in the next ten years when tv money from asia and the rest of the world become the largest source of revenue.
  19. Wouldn't mind a postponement. Allows more time for the new guys to train with the squad and more time for us to players in. Also means that Ben arfa will be fit in the replay.
