Disappointing match. Chelsea are a horrible football club. Even though they got what they came for (as did Man Utd last year), they did not exactly endear themselves to the neutral fan. This is why I hope Barcelona rape all the teams left in the competition this year. I know it's practical to be defensive but come on, you're ruining football, man, and this mentality, if it's constantly successful, will spread. Barca will be in a bit of trouble at the back for the second leg with Puyol suspended and Marquez out with a cruciate (or so it looked to me) but they created chances today with Chelsea having 11 men in their half for most of the match and I think they'll be able to win it at Stamford Bridge. Fulham won't defend as deep because they're in UEFA Cup contention and Boro will need to score or else they're down as well. Before the match, I had us surviving on 37 points but I had us winning against Pompey and drawing against Fulham. We can still do this, but I really think that we need something from Anfield or Villa Park now. fulham are very organised and disciplined, they'll sit back and frustrate and hope they score a few as they grind us down. pompey was definitely a much easier match. Boro will be forced to come out and attack though, but in recent years we've struggled to beat them (drawn at home against them for the previous 3 seasons) so i would doubt our chances against them too. I thought Guthrie was shocking...am I alone in that? He seemed very nervous and rushed a lot of his passes, so yeah, he was pretty shocking. Our players tried. That's obvious. We just missed two very easy chances and that's that. We also probably got lucky on the Coloccini tackle. I thought the ref could have easily given a penalty for that.

Sorry, but have you even watched Duff this game? Don't get me wrong I don't particularly like him, but he run with the ball, crossed, shot, and worked hard that half. He always works hard; that I don't doubt. But I'm saying his contribution is very negligible. His crosses are always floated in and it's too easy to defend against. He runs with the ball but not with any determination and his passes are neither incisive nor ambitious; they're almost always to the man behind him or squared to the CM. So he's useful in that he rarely loses possession but we need midfielders with an attacking instinct.
