  1. He is a bit off-form (although the 19 goals would tend to disagree) but maybe that's because of the team he's playing for is off-form as well? I didn't see a Barca attacker who shone in the game yesterday (or recently). Eto'o was crap, Messi wasn't as effective (creating-chances wise), Deco didn't run the game etc. etc. It's stupid that people are only focusing on Ronaldinho, it's a team game innit? And he's hit his first patch of bad form (if 19 goals = bad form) in about 2 years and everyone's suddenly on his back. Ridiculous if you ask me.
  2. I've never thought he has been worthy of his status. Great players impose themselves on games. He has the skills, but not the desire, consistently. For the last few years, the one player I would take in the world for Newcastle would be Rooney, he is much better. Ronaldhino simply can't compare with Maradona, Cryuff, Pele, Best for instance, from the past either. He isn't in the same league as those players. That's naive, and coming from you, I'm surprised. Rooney? Meh, he does it with even less consistency than Ronaldinho. He has no experience of actually doing it, actually succeeding and leading a team. He has all the potential but like so many English footballers, get way overhyped when he's actually done fuck all. He's overrated and I'll stand by that opinion until he actually produces it consistently (maybe he should look at his own teammate Ronaldo?). Contrary to that, Ronaldinho has done it before and he has shown that he can succeed at the highest of levels. What are the odds on Rooney not actually becoming one of the greats because I'd sure like to bet a few quid on that. It's simply wishful thinking to believe that Rooney is actually one of the best in the world, that he can 'impose' himself on the game and has the 'desire'. Just because he runs around like a headless chicken doesn't mean he has 'desire', and conversely, just because Ronaldinho doesn't run around like a headless chicken doesn't mean he has no desire. You don't hone speciall skills like he has without the desire, motivation and incentive to do it. Rooney 'much better' than Ronaldinho? in your dreams mate
  3. Fucking hell, get in! Scraped through with a 2 pt victory, what a brilliant away victory I had. Turning around a 6 pt deficit. Brilliant!

    Woodgate!

That was Pipkin. what sort of name is that? I think his mother is Jewish, it's her fathers name.
  5. I disagree with quite a few things mate, so I'm gonna go through each point I disagree with. Pace is no doubt a good attribute, but it's an unnecessary attribute for DMC's. Take a look at Makelele man!! He has barely any pace, yet it is this lack of pace that has forced him to improve his positioning, develop an anticipation of the opposition's moves and improve his tackling. If Parker didn't have the pace, he wouldn't run around like a headless chicken all the time. Sure he can put in impressive performances, but it's usually when we're under the cosh, rarely when we dominate and play a team off the park (not that we've done that recently anyway). Parker usually isn't aware of where he's suppose to be half the time - this explains why you sometimes see him at RB, then at LB and then just running around after the ball. You never see Makelele in any of those places and you rarely see him running after because a) he's not fast enough and more importantly, b) he's there before the ball reaches the player. That is what makes Makelele great, Butt average, and imo, Parker pretty shit at the DMC position. It's about positioning and anticipation, which are qualities that if a player has, will improve their other qualities such as pressing and tackling, and these are qualities that Parker doesn't seem to have. That's only because he rarely makes forward passes. Obviously that's not wholely his fault as our movement in general is shite, but I've seen too many times that his passes forward hasn't reached the target or has gone wayward. Sure he makes good 'short' passes, but most of them are simply him running towards our goal from the center of midfield then tapping the ball back to the defender who initially passed the ball to him. This can be explained by the aforementioned fact that he runs around like a headless chicken. Seriously, if he didn't and stayed in a 'position', we'd be better off. This aspect of his game is probably not his fault; it's the manager's. That's essentially Parker's undoing ie. his manager's lack of a 'plan' for him. That's why I don't think we get a consistent Parker, or actually a Parker who knows what he's suppose to be doing at all times. Maybe I'm just being overly-critical but I've seen enough times where he's given the ball away needlessly by acting like the playmaker which he isn't, or run around chasing the ball leaving gaps in the center of midfield which leaves the defence open to all sorts of dangers. He doesn't contribute enough to our attacking game as well. Rarely does one of his long passes reach a player, rarely does he make an accurate and perfectly-weighter throughball (although tbf, rarely does anyone in our team do that now) and he doesn't offer a goal-threat from open play (ie. long shots). To sum it up, I think he's symptomatic of a team that wins by working hard and hassles the other team off of the pitch, and to me, that's a team that can finish no higher than mid-table. He's average, but I don't what us to be just 'average'.
  6. The main problem I see for Shearer if he's our next manager is if he fails because of inexperience, chances are he won't get a 'second chance'. If he tried to start his managerial career elsewhere and actually 'earned' the job, that would please a whole lot more. Or if he wasn't just doing TV, but was actually traveling around the world and learning new methods (think Wenger and Japan, or Adams at Ajax). If he's going to be our next manager (which I'm sure he has an inkling of), he has to prepare himself in advance, and he's not doing that if he's on TV all the time.
  7. Fergie not a good tactician? Come on man, that's like saying Wenger doesn't have an eye for talent. It's Ferguson's most impressive attribute. Name me anyone else in the world who can put Fletcher and Scholes in the center of midfield and absolutely dominate a game? It's all in the movement. That's what makes Man Utd so fucking dangerous and good, it's all in the tactics that Ferguson sets out. He's a genius in this aspect, similar to Wenger in his eye for talent (and tactics as well - Wenger's a fucking genius).
  8. Where was the thread before Christmas, before the 4 important games (Bolton, Everton, Manyoo and Spurs)? That thread should be resurrected and merged with this one. Some points were made then in that thread that is pretty much relevant now, but I can't seem to find that thread.
  9. I'm the 'voice of reason' iirc (what I posted)

    Penalty Taking

Owen won't take 'em. He stopped taking penalties like a season before the end of his Liverpool days, never took one for Real and doesn't take 'em for England (anymore).
  11. Not surprised Milner's the last off the training pitch tbh. He's really developing. Good stuff.

  13. He has been ordinary if you measure him against the expectations of people like you. 10 goals in the Premiership IIRC, FIVE less than his teammate. Plus, how long was that drought of his? 8 games or something? And he had a significant drought in the Champions League as well. That's ordinary from a player that many people would like to build their team around. Yea, you did say 'this season', and in 'this season' Samuel Eto'o has been injured for a significant portion, Ronaldinho has scored 13 league goals and Barcelona lead the Primera Liga. Of course Barcelona build a team around Ronaldinho, why wouldn't they build a team around the two-time World Player of the Year? And I'm pretty sure they're going to continue with this policy with them winning quite a few trophies in the past couple of years, are you suggesting they change this philosophy? There's a fallacy in your argument, because 'building around' does not = over reliance. And that off balance shite is just that, shite. So what if your best player floats around and has no real position? Are you saying Arsenal are off balance because Henry plays on the left and he's their best player? That doesn't equal to a team being 'off-balance' if the planned 'balance' of the team is so that they attack from their strongest side, which in Barca's case, is the left. Would you rather let them be more 'balanced' and try attacking from another side? You go through your best players and maximize their time on the ball because they are your BEST players. That's a rule in every sport tbh. Barca do this and that's why they're the best in Europe, and that's why I rate Ronaldinho so highly. Ronaldinho is underrated (evidence is shown here tbh, ONLY 15% have voted for him) because he plays in a league that is not watched as much as the Premiership is. Lampard is DEFINITELY overrated, I'm surprised you even included him. Gerrard received exposure because of his play in important games such as the FA Cup and the Champions League. With Ronaldo? He's obviously not being hyped up as much as Fabregas is, and thus, is irrelevant. Plus, if he was hyped up, I'd say he's living up to the hype with being the best player in the team that is actually leading the Premiership. Chastising him for one tournament? How about the tournament that he actually won?? And what has Fabregas done for Spain? He wasn't even a starter in the WC! Because I wanted to see what the Rooney backers would say when I mentioned the fact that Ronaldo has been much more impressive than Rooney this season. Does he NEED to improve? Tell you what, Fabregas is immense and if it wasn't for Gerrard and Ronaldinho, he'd be my pick. But he hasn't won anything and hasn't shown that winning personality. Of course he has time and all that but building a team based on the 'potential' of one player isn't the best philosophy if you can build another team with a player who is used to winning and will probably make you a winner. And that's the point I've been trying to make. I'm not the type to wait and hope Fabregas develops so the team can win a few titles when I know Ronaldinho will win me probably a few as well. He's had 8 international caps, don't talk about him 'doing well' The second statement illustrates how good Ronaldinho is now. Before, he was a flashy player who came in and out of games. Ineffective for the most part with moments of brilliants in between. Now? He's a much different player. Look at how every team shapes up when they play Barcelona, the right wing hardly exists because it's sacrificed to protect the RB position, yet Barca keep winning. Even with all the injuries (Gudjohnsen, Eto'o, Xavi etc.), they're still top of their respective league. This leads me to this So are Arsenal successful in your opinion? Are they going to win trophies this season? Are they leading the league?
  14. Hah? Rooney being ordinary this season !!? What's the shame of not outshining Paul Scholes - currently the very best quarter back and attacking midfielder rolled into 1 in premiership (also alledgely favoured by Henry and Fabregas as player of the year), and Nemanja Vidic - who has been absolutely colossal for Manchester United? If anything, Ronaldinho has been pretty low key this season, even annoying his own fans. Rumour also has that Barcelona is not going to renew his contract. You must be fucking joking man Ronaldinho low-key? Does low-key by any chance mean 13 league goals this season? Leading his club, the defending Champions League champs and leader of the Primera Liga, in the goalscoring department? Is that what you mean by low-key? Fucks sake, just because you don't watch him doesn't mean he's shite. He carried Barca into the Champions League final last year, has been inspirational this year with Barca missing Samuel Eto'o and you say he's been 'low-key' So are you saying Barca's team is off-balance then? Are you saying the defending champs of Europe have an off-balanced team? Balance or no balance, I'd take the team that consistently plays the most entertaining football in Europe, AND is successful because of one key player, the two-time world player of the year. The real mind-boggling fact is how underrated Ronaldinho actually is, especially by people who don't see enough of him/Barca to realize his effectiveness (even when he barely seems to be involved). Personally, I think Fabregas is overrated. Not massively overrated but his reputation has certainly been helped by playing for a team in the Premiership, a league watched all over the world. He's also playing in a system that suits him to perfection. Stick him in our team, and he wouldn't be half as effective. That's not the type of player I'd want to build my team around. I wonder what will happen when he eventually leaves Arsenal, his passing and vision is sublime, I give you that, but his lack of pace means that he rarely finishes off anything. Ronaldinho, on the other hand, creates countless goals through his creativity and flair, and like the statistics show, he can finish 'em off as well. Furthermore, he's actually done it all. Won the World Cup, won the Champions League and winning arguably the best league in Europe twice in a row. I understand the picks for Gerrard because he's actually done most of it, and for a shite team in comparison to Barca, but why Rooney and Fabregas? Rooney isn't the best player in his team, that's Cristiano Ronaldo. Sure he has potential but he's not shown that he's improved at all in the past couple of years. His temper is still evident, his form is erratic and he doesn't even have a set role in his own team. Fabregas? I've talked enough about him. IMO, if he wasn't playing in Wenger's team, he wouldn't be the player he is and we'll find this out when he leaves. If being a dirty cunt with little or no tackling ability makes you a defensive player in your book, then Fabregas is a better defensive player than Rooney.
  15. I'm surprised at all the Rooney picks tbh, he's done nothing out of the ordinary this season, he's not even the best player on his own team for Christ's sake. Hasn't done it in the Champions League either. I'm even more surprised by the lack of votes for Ronaldinho, who changes the way any team plays against Barcelona more than anyone realizes.
  16. Dammit, down by 6 pts. 55-61. Still alright, will win the away leg
  17. The scene is set, you have the first pick of your fantasy football. You can pick any player, from any club, any country, anywhere really. Pick one player that you think is ideal to build a team around. The one player that you think is the most valuable, the best, the most gifted, the one that you believe is worthy of being picked 'first', the most influential in all of football.. Any player in the world. Pick ONE.. Considering everything, his skill, the position he plays in, his age, his potential for improvement, his leadership, his 'clutchness' if you like.. Consider all those variables, and pick one player. State why you've chosen your player as well
  18. See what I said about Roeder talking too much? Just shut the fuck up and say nothing until it's confirmed, it stops the building up of anticipation then the frustration that comes afterwards when it doesn't happen. Sir Bob was much better at this than Roeder is, he never said a thing until everything was confirmed.
  19. If they're about to sign Bale, I reckon Heinze would be available, and the fact that teams like Spurs are willing to only offer 5m it makes sense for us to offer say 7m but only after a loan deal, and it'd make sense for Manyoo to accept this offer.
  20. is she fit? ;-) lol You tell me. http://photos-945.ak.facebook.com/ip002/v61/155/75/503245758/n503245758_15945_1516.jpg cautious as to comment as il probably get told thats a bloke or something..... but marks out of ten, id give her one! lol Extremely harsh! either u was offended about the first bit or didnt get the second bit! lol Didn't need the "marks out of 10" bit tbh, confused me for a minute bluebigrazz.gif tee hee! wouldnt really have worked without it!
