  1. Probably safety issues, since it is only a 'ramp up' event anyways.
  2. We've turned it down for a 'boot camp' in possibly Denmark.
  3. I don't think so. We can't take a risk hoping that he'll come good. It'll be like another Duff situation again. The next time we buy, we make sure the player is actually performing well and on his way up, not down like Duff and SWP.
  4. Btw, I always thought he was a good signing. I just didn't know he had two good feet. Try reading other threads at the time again and you'd see I was always pleased with his signing (and excited when it was in the process of happening). Never once did I criticize the boy, not even during his rough start so I'd appreciate it if you don't lump me in with other people and stop chatting shit about what I say/said. The bit about his two feet wasn't criticism, was just opinion based on what I'd seen of him in Serie A, an opinion which was obviously wrong. All I said was that you'd provided me with "immense entertainment" in this thread, along with the others. A compliment if ever there was one. 'The usual suspects, if ever there were some' Don't be such an arrogant prick.

  6. Classic. I guess I shouldn't be trusted.
  7. deserves to be quoted
  8. This is where the argument falls apart because it is this fact that makes us a better judge of a player's ability to play and function in our team. It is because of the fact that these commentators don't watch us week-in week-out that they're unable to observe this. It's also why they keep repeating the same old shite that our defense is shit (even when it wasn't) and that we play good attacking football (which we, honestly, quite a lot of times, don't).
  9. Yea, Liverpool should send out Agger, Garcia, Kuyt, Alonso, Sissoko, Hyypia etc. etc. to play against them foreigners. And Manyoo should send out Park, Ronaldo, Vidic, Saha etc. to play against them foreigners.
  10. Tbh, you've been talking quite a bit of crap in the past few days He's a great player. And Roma will probably do well in the Champions League because they have many great (underrated) players.
  11. 3 English teams in the quarters. Had to be the worst 3 as well. Let the shit-spouting begin (just got a text off of a Manc mate).
  12. He is a bit off-form (although the 19 goals would tend to disagree) but maybe that's because of the team he's playing for is off-form as well? I didn't see a Barca attacker who shone in the game yesterday (or recently). Eto'o was crap, Messi wasn't as effective (creating-chances wise), Deco didn't run the game etc. etc. It's stupid that people are only focusing on Ronaldinho, it's a team game innit? And he's hit his first patch of bad form (if 19 goals = bad form) in about 2 years and everyone's suddenly on his back. Ridiculous if you ask me.
  13. I've never thought he has been worthy of his status. Great players impose themselves on games. He has the skills, but not the desire, consistently. For the last few years, the one player I would take in the world for Newcastle would be Rooney, he is much better. Ronaldhino simply can't compare with Maradona, Cryuff, Pele, Best for instance, from the past either. He isn't in the same league as those players. That's naive, and coming from you, I'm surprised. Rooney? Meh, he does it with even less consistency than Ronaldinho. He has no experience of actually doing it, actually succeeding and leading a team. He has all the potential but like so many English footballers, get way overhyped when he's actually done fuck all. He's overrated and I'll stand by that opinion until he actually produces it consistently (maybe he should look at his own teammate Ronaldo?). Contrary to that, Ronaldinho has done it before and he has shown that he can succeed at the highest of levels. What are the odds on Rooney not actually becoming one of the greats because I'd sure like to bet a few quid on that. It's simply wishful thinking to believe that Rooney is actually one of the best in the world, that he can 'impose' himself on the game and has the 'desire'. Just because he runs around like a headless chicken doesn't mean he has 'desire', and conversely, just because Ronaldinho doesn't run around like a headless chicken doesn't mean he has no desire. You don't hone speciall skills like he has without the desire, motivation and incentive to do it. Rooney 'much better' than Ronaldinho? in your dreams mate
  14. Fucking hell, get in! Scraped through with a 2 pt victory, what a brilliant away victory I had. Turning around a 6 pt deficit. Brilliant!

    Woodgate!

That was Pipkin. what sort of name is that? I think his mother is Jewish, it's her fathers name.
  16. I disagree with quite a few things mate, so I'm gonna go through each point I disagree with. Pace is no doubt a good attribute, but it's an unnecessary attribute for DMC's. Take a look at Makelele man!! He has barely any pace, yet it is this lack of pace that has forced him to improve his positioning, develop an anticipation of the opposition's moves and improve his tackling. If Parker didn't have the pace, he wouldn't run around like a headless chicken all the time. Sure he can put in impressive performances, but it's usually when we're under the cosh, rarely when we dominate and play a team off the park (not that we've done that recently anyway). Parker usually isn't aware of where he's suppose to be half the time - this explains why you sometimes see him at RB, then at LB and then just running around after the ball. You never see Makelele in any of those places and you rarely see him running after because a) he's not fast enough and more importantly, b) he's there before the ball reaches the player. That is what makes Makelele great, Butt average, and imo, Parker pretty shit at the DMC position. It's about positioning and anticipation, which are qualities that if a player has, will improve their other qualities such as pressing and tackling, and these are qualities that Parker doesn't seem to have. That's only because he rarely makes forward passes. Obviously that's not wholely his fault as our movement in general is shite, but I've seen too many times that his passes forward hasn't reached the target or has gone wayward. Sure he makes good 'short' passes, but most of them are simply him running towards our goal from the center of midfield then tapping the ball back to the defender who initially passed the ball to him. This can be explained by the aforementioned fact that he runs around like a headless chicken. Seriously, if he didn't and stayed in a 'position', we'd be better off. This aspect of his game is probably not his fault; it's the manager's. That's essentially Parker's undoing ie. his manager's lack of a 'plan' for him. That's why I don't think we get a consistent Parker, or actually a Parker who knows what he's suppose to be doing at all times. Maybe I'm just being overly-critical but I've seen enough times where he's given the ball away needlessly by acting like the playmaker which he isn't, or run around chasing the ball leaving gaps in the center of midfield which leaves the defence open to all sorts of dangers. He doesn't contribute enough to our attacking game as well. Rarely does one of his long passes reach a player, rarely does he make an accurate and perfectly-weighter throughball (although tbf, rarely does anyone in our team do that now) and he doesn't offer a goal-threat from open play (ie. long shots). To sum it up, I think he's symptomatic of a team that wins by working hard and hassles the other team off of the pitch, and to me, that's a team that can finish no higher than mid-table. He's average, but I don't what us to be just 'average'.
  17. The main problem I see for Shearer if he's our next manager is if he fails because of inexperience, chances are he won't get a 'second chance'. If he tried to start his managerial career elsewhere and actually 'earned' the job, that would please a whole lot more. Or if he wasn't just doing TV, but was actually traveling around the world and learning new methods (think Wenger and Japan, or Adams at Ajax). If he's going to be our next manager (which I'm sure he has an inkling of), he has to prepare himself in advance, and he's not doing that if he's on TV all the time.
  18. Fergie not a good tactician? Come on man, that's like saying Wenger doesn't have an eye for talent. It's Ferguson's most impressive attribute. Name me anyone else in the world who can put Fletcher and Scholes in the center of midfield and absolutely dominate a game? It's all in the movement. That's what makes Man Utd so fucking dangerous and good, it's all in the tactics that Ferguson sets out. He's a genius in this aspect, similar to Wenger in his eye for talent (and tactics as well - Wenger's a fucking genius).
  19. Where was the thread before Christmas, before the 4 important games (Bolton, Everton, Manyoo and Spurs)? That thread should be resurrected and merged with this one. Some points were made then in that thread that is pretty much relevant now, but I can't seem to find that thread.
  20. I'm the 'voice of reason' iirc (what I posted)

    Penalty Taking

Owen won't take 'em. He stopped taking penalties like a season before the end of his Liverpool days, never took one for Real and doesn't take 'em for England (anymore).
  22. Not surprised Milner's the last off the training pitch tbh. He's really developing. Good stuff.
