  1. I think the hunger thing is much more to do with the fact that they had won everything there was to win in a manner that was never done before. When you've done that without refreshing the squad, it's natural to expect a decline in the intensity level. You can't go from playing at 60% against Osasuna while thrashing them 5-0 to having to be at 110% soon after in a Clasico. They just weren't hungry enough in general and it affected them in the big games because they couldn't up their level.
  2. Bought the inter home and Juve home and away. The material for the inter one is amazing.
  3. What's the average age of squads now vs ten years ago would be really interesting.
  4. Sinclair is in Bangkok, for what it's worth.
  5. Should have stuck this 5m onto PEA in January. Whatever. At least he's better than Shola. That's my criteria for any new striker these days, as depressing as it is.
  6. I don't know what to believe in anymore. I'm just hoping the guy who actually spent £300m on the club will care the most out of anyone about it so he's going not going to get us relegated next season. As stupid and crazy as he is, one thing we've all learnt is that he loves money so he's not going to piss away hundreds of millions for fun.
  7. You must be kidding me with these posts. We don't need to sell. We have a great team. We only need to buy two or three players and our first team will be as good as Spurs and Liverpool. It will be cheaper replacing the manager, anyway. He is the one who needs replacing, not the players.
  8. From right to left: Makelele, Abidal (?), Desailly, Carew, Hatem, ? , Dhorasoo?
  9. They won't for long. They're going to be competitive with European teams soon.
  10. What has happened Fontas?
  11. Van Persie cost Yanited more and Nasri was about the same. Besides Arsenal in both situations got 100% of the money, Santos are only getting a cut of it. 13m is shocking when you compare similar transfers. Van Persie was £24m and Nasri was £20m. Also the fact that Santos didn't receive the full fee is irrelevant because they haven't been paying his full wages for a while either. If they haven't been the only investor in Neymar, hence not being the only party to have risked money in him, then why should they reap more benefit than their share? You're dancing around in circles. Firstly it was the fee and now it's Santos not receiving the full whack. Both your criticisms don't have merit.
  12. Agree with Flip. Santos were right to have kept him for the past two years and what they got for him now was pretty much bonus. VI of course is also very astute in pointing out that this is the largest fee for a player with a year remaining on his contract. All in all, Santos have done well.
  13. £50 Dortmund +0.75 @2 £30 Dortmund to win in 90 @4.5 £10 Dortmund 2-1 @15
  14. Tonight just reminds me of Bayern v Barca in terms of how attractive the odds for the underdog are. I honestly don't know what to do.
  15. Even though PSG are ridiculously wealthy, I bet we'd be competitive in wages because of the stupidly high taxes in France. I bet he's one of those guys who didn't have enough leverage to sign a 'net wage' contract, too. It could just be agent ploy to get better wages but PSG may feel that they can't justify the increased wages for him given the already substantial wages they're dishing out plus the higher taxes. Who knows.

O'Neill is so backwards. Aren't there multiple peer-reviewed studies showing that the effects of a proper drinking night can last up to a week? Especially the dehydration which normally lasts up to a few days.
  17. They were bad for many reasons. The fall out from the van Persie thing, lingering injuries combined with settling in period of new players etc. If they don't sell anyone of importance and can buy two players, they'll be a good team next year. Funnily enough their defence is very strong now with Mertesacker and Koscielny. Kosc is now one of the best in the league and Mertesacker is very dependable and acts as a leader.
  18. To add to my point, in the last 23 league matches, title winning Man Utd got 53 points. Arsenal got 52. Essentially, since the middle of December, Arsenal have been playing like a title winning team. If I'm Wenger, I know my team is not far away if the team has been that consistent over more than half the season.
  19. Arsenal are not far off a title charge. They've been playing like a title winning team for half the season. They're only two players away - a winger and a striker, funnily enough - from being very realistic challengers for the title and they won't have major outgoings this season plus loads of managerial changes. Next season is probably Arsenal's best shot for a while.
  20. They presumably have Rose coming back next season, him and BAE should be fine at LB. Walker can be a liability, but he's good enough and young. The last three are what they really need. Pretty much. Walker is clearly good enough to play for a title-winning team if the other players in the team are good enough. They really need a striker and another winger to lighten the load for Bale. If I'm a Spurs fan, I'm really excited about next season.
