no if he's come back and is working as hard as the other players then he deserves a chance BUT because of what has happened previously he should be at the back of the queue and if there's a striking position up for grabs alongside Carroll then the likes of Lovenkrands(16 goals last season), Shola (best goals to game ratio last season) or Ranger who has scored 6 goals in the pre season games he's played should get there chance first, if they don't take it then give Xisco a chance to prove himself. Although i think i'd even give Airey a go before him.
-
Ranger deserves his chance before Xisco, at least Nile has been scoring a few in his pre season games. Xisco didn't want to be here and admitted he stopped playing to get a move away, now he's back he should be at the back of the queue and have to work his socks off to even get a sniff of a game. He clearly has been, in that case. i was meaning more than just on the training ground, i have witnessed him put in some of the most shameful non existant inept waste of a shirt appearances for the reserves in his last spell and i'd want to see him going out for the 2nd team and show the desire, fight and passion with him scoring goals before i'd even consider him getting a look in. From what i've seen so far he's benefitted from the squad been so poor and no cover for Jonas as he's ended up getting back into the side as a left winger which isn't even his position.

If he's not prepared to stick his hand in his pocket for the benefit of the team, he shouldn't be the owner of a football club. He has done wrong in doing nothing to address problems that are 2-3 seasons old. he made his position clear that he wasnt going to put his hand in his pocket This season aye. What happened to the Milner money and Given dosh that was promised to go back into the team? 20m a season kitty was also promised? went to cover wages that were paid to players, the clubs made large losses last few years and the money to pay that had to come from somewhere The wages are covered through the general income the club makes, so that's a load of bollocks tbf the club had for several years spent considerably more than it had coming in. the catch 22 comes when needing to invest to try to make money to pay it off or what to do when it doesn't work. Mainly due to blowing massive transfer fees on s**** for so many years and selling players for next to nowt, the wages however would be covered by general income. we were spending close to 70% of the entire turnover on wages. thats not sustainable. ashley has been at the club 3 years, if that isn't enough time to sort the payroll, then he shouldn't be managing any business tbh aye but the fat tw@t started his reign at the club giving the likes of Smith 60k a week, Colo 80k a week and then realised shit the club can't afford to pay out that much.

i've never been that impressed although only seen him play a couple of times.

As soon as i saw we were meant to be bidding £4m then i knew the Leroy story was bollocks.

commentator just mentioned that young boys don't keep clean sheets, don't see what thats got to do with a football match, just thought it was natural of coming of age.....

Think attitude and tactics will play a huge part in our possible survival, if we go into games with 5 man midfield with the attitude of not getting beat then we'll go down. Blackpool have been written off already but are going out to attack and have fun, they went to Wigan who are also likely to be down the bottom of the league but went with 3 up front and went straight at Wigan, scored 3 in the first half and could've had double that. I doubt we'd have even played 2 up front, we'd have went with Carroll up top and nolan off him and tried to contain Wigan and nick something.
-
Do Celtic still want Harper? Sell him to celtic for £2.5m, get Given on back on loan and offer Marseille the money from the sale of Harper with another £2m at the end of the season.
-
Even out wide though he'll produce more of a threat than either Jonas or Routledge. With a striker like Andy Carrol we'd be better off with a winger like Etherington than Jonas, we need an "old fashioned" type winger who will get to the bye line and swing the ball over.

it would, ever heard of protecting your investment! it's what sir john hall did when he bought the club outright! the club's balance sheet for this season will be well into the black, as the books are already balanced due to us being in the premiership Ashley is totally different to SJH, he is a gambler and i think he's quite happy to take his chances on the current players keeping us up and if he doesn't have to spend anything he'll be delighted. Not going to get into an argument about balance sheets etc cos i don't know the figures plus i'm getting into an argument over something i actually agree with you about as i think we should release the funds and pay the transfer fee. (i just don't Ashley has any intention!)
-
i fully agree but i just can't see in our current situation despite the new income from TV, merchandise etc Ashley releasing funds. imo Ashley sees the new cash injection into the club as his chance to balance the books more so its a more attractive propostition so he can sell. Splashing out £4-5m wouldn't help this plan.

we have got 4M, ashley is trying to claw back his losses this season No we haven't, we haven't got a pot to piss in, we are skint and still got a huge wage bill to pay for. We wouldn't be scraping around looking at loans and freebies if we money in the bank. Which is why it's imperative that we survive. We aren't going to do that with the current playing staff. remember our income get's an extra 40M+ this season, so to say we're skint isn't exactly true! yes and that £40m will be going into the clubs coffers to cover the aforementioned wage bill and costs, i'm sure Ashley will be wanting to use that and other income the club can generate in the PL so he doesn't have to put another £20m in to keep us going again. This isn't some kind of defence of Ashley and i'd love us to just sign the lad but if the club hasn't got the money then we haven't got it, simple as. We aren't in the Shepherd era anymore and Ashley isn't going to spend money if it puts us further in debt.

if we haven't got £4m then we can't pay Marseille £4m no matter how good a deal it maybe.
-
i can't see Everton too keen to do a deal with us after we pinched Gosling off them as well
-
Can we mark that hopeless attempt as a back header for Titus as his first cock up of the season??
-
Drenthe? I doubt that tbh. He isn't in Newcastle, that's for sure Drenthe is definately NOT in Newcastle, i was watching him playing for Madrid playing against Bayern in the Allianz arena tonight.

Anyone living near the Copthorne, Malmaison, Gateshead Hilton, Marriott or Holiday Inn get yourself down and see if he's checked in....

they are probably the Hungarian side that he was on trial at.
