i expect him to be blooded in a similar way that Moyes eased Rooney into Evertons team.

Folan is a slight surprise, he's impressed since his switch to the back, but I'd say Jeff Henderson (his CB partner) was the better of the pair. What about Adjei? How's he coming on? Heard he struggled to begin with, but has he developed anything this season? We don't hear anything about him here in Sweden. Same goes for Ole Söderberg, but he's been injured right? Lee Ryder from the Chronicle seems to like Adjei but i've not been too impressed when i've seen him play, he's still too lightweight for me. Can't seem him pushing for a first team place next season.

He's a decent solid enough player but like so many others for whatever reason he just hasn't managed to kick on after getting to reserve team level.

i just thought we were playing him rightback for the last few games cos we had no one else due to injuries/youth games.
  5. Getting rid of the singing corner.
  6. suppose it is, i was more thinking of 36 points. Looking at this seasons league, if we get 8-10 wins we should stay up.
  7. the key to staying up?? easy, win 12 games. not bothered if we do it the direct physical way or with barca type football.
  8. there's more than just the right back to worry about, i've doubts and worries over whichever keeper gets picked, Green or James. As everyone knows RB is a problem but you've also got Terry coming into the tournament on the back of a poor season and hasn't played well for ages, Rio has barely played and Cole who is a quality player is returnin from injury and will hopefully be able to rediscover is form from early in the season.
  9. Was anyone from on here involved or see the ruck with the West Ham fans at Kings Cross? We went drinking around Liverpool st after the game, but as we got to Kings Cross about half 6 the place was crawling with police, we got chatting to a couple of them who advised us to go to a different pub as some West Ham were still in the pub we were heading too. When we asked what happened they said west ham had came down looking for trouble but took a kicking, they seemed quite happy that they'd got a kicking as well ;-) I'm presuming it was all pre-arranged, when we left the ground a QPR fan came up to him to as he put it " be careful later lads west ham are coming lookin for your lot later"
  10. Aren't Spurs already a feeder club for Man U?
  11. Head to Shepherds Bush and you can't go wrong. I don't know the area particularly well but there are loads of pubs, if you're feeling unimaginative there are big o'neill's and walkabouts, you won't go thirsty. Seemingly none of them open until 12pm on a Sunday! Last thing i heard from a couple of my mates was we are just going to the Flying Scotsman at Kings Cross when we get off the train to see some dirty strippers!!
  12. Who's Austin?? the right back. haven't opened the link as am work.

He's only scored 8 goals this season and thats against reserve teams from the likes of Rotherham, Hartlepool, Lincoln etc, hardly fills you with confidence he will score in the PL. It also doesn't help that he plays like a headless chicken and his team link up play is poor. Yes his time here as been blighted by injury but thats they way it goes sometimes and its a case of being in the right place at the right time.
  14. It'll be interesting to see if he plays for the reserves tomorrow, if he does then i don't think he'll feature at QPR, can't see a lad who's been out injured for almost 6 months playing 3 games in 6 days especially as Tuesday was the first 90 mins he'd played since his injury.
  15. Using that theory Skirge we probably wouldn't have him now as he'd still be in Slovenia and we wouldn't have got Kadar and Krul.
  16. there is a 3rd option..... we do OK next season, the finances are sorted and we look to grow, he's only 18 1/2 by then and agrees to a new contract being happy here and knowing he probably wouldn't get as much pitch time at the barce's of this world. (all assuming he looks to be fulfilling his potential). even then i suppose it's just postponing things. i actually can see him signing a new deal with us before the end of the year, more likely in the summer tying him down till 2014-15 time. I will however stick to my post i put on here weeks ago that i'll be amazed if he's a NUFC player when he's 21. regarding the over hyping, yes he's a cracking player, yes he could be very very good and yes Lee Ryder in the Chronicle is over hyping this kid big style.
  17. the 'tbc' is the concern good point, well he came early last season iirc so can't imagine him not signing anything smaller than a 3 year deal so i would say that would be 2012.
  18. given a choice of believing .com or lee ryder i'd go with .com being right.
  19. i wonder if Carrolls court appearance this Thursday will have any impact on team selection, he could possibly be making his debut for Durham nick this weekend rather than playing against QPR.
  20. Also know that Hughton flew out to personally run the rule over a player on sunday, no idea where though.

i'd agree with you Chris about Edmondon, thought he played well tonight and looks promising, that was only the 3rd time i've seen him and tonight was the best i've seen him, got some lovely touches just needs too get stronger but i'm sure that will come in time. Disagree about Kadar though i thought he just cruised through the game in 2nd gear, yes he had a few little battles with their striker but Kadar came out on top, think he was just told to go out and just test out his injury and take it easy. Thought Vuckic was quite quiet and could have/should have had a couple of goals, dragged a good chance wide just before Fergie scored from a similar position, went close with a curler from 20 yards bang on half time then missed a really good chance when he put a Fergie cross over the bar from 6 yards. Agree again about Donaldson, another poor game and did very little until he went off injured. Paddy McLauglin actually had one of his better games, he's a neat and tidy little player but he's not going to make it at NUFC. Thought young Dummett had another good game at LB and he's getting better and better. Also think tonight was the most left footed players i've seen in one team, Lough, Dummett, Kadar, Ferguson, Mclaughlin, Vuckic, Edmondson and Folan.
  22. apart from Sunderland you'll not have any bother getting tickets.

    Nicky Butt

Some of the stick Butt gets on here is laughable really, you'd think he was the worst player to have ever played for the club, its pathetic. Yes he's never been a world beater when he's played for us but neither has he been as bad as people make out. Think the lad from true faith sums him up well in this weekd TBAWE column It is being widely reported Saturday was Nicky Butt’s St James’ Park swansong at Newcastle United. Nicky has had his trials and tribulations at the club but for me he has always been a fully committed professional, a decent lad, a winner and a credit to himself and Newcastle United. When football nowadays is full of the diamond ear stud, hummer driving tossers, Nicky Butt has been a throwback to a time when players were just like fans. Having met Nicky a couple of times for interviews (when fanzines had access to United players) I can confirm he is the decent lad he is cracked up to be. When he arrived at the club I was delighted we’d signed him and contacts in Manchester sung his praises as a top class pro and decent human being. Nicky’s first season was not a good one. He played with an injury, his form dipped, he refused to hide, he was slaughtered by fans and he was lied about in the press. He was grotesquely mismanaged by Souness (what’s the odds eh?) but to Glenn Roeder’s credit he was rehabilitated and in my opinion he served the club very well. There have been games when Nicky’s age seemed to be catching up with him but for those who were watching closely they saw a lad doing the dirty jobs on a football pitch for his team - tracking runners, screening the back-line, putting his body on the line, making himself available for the pass in a difficult situation etc. In short being a proper footballer. If there was one lad at the club who could have played the Billy Big Balls it was Nicky Butt because after all he’s the only one there who has a box full of medals, international caps and the memories of playing in a World Cup and countless other top matches and tournaments. Being a lad from Manchester who grew up under Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford it is obvious a big, big part of him will be a Red forever. Who would expect any different? However, from both his words and deeds we know Nicky Butt is a Mag and if he does hang up his boots and moves into coaching I’d love him to have a role at our club because there is much a young player could learn from the way he trains and lives his life. Thanks, Nicky! No doubt the vultures will swoop down to tear it too pieces.
