Well there are many reasons for it tbh. As a striker he was getting dispossessed every time the ball went near him. Opposition get given so many opportunities to then counter attack, which is a bit of a disaster when everyone has got further forward. Has been many times when he wouldn't even try and get on the end of crosses, especially ones across the 6 yards box, would be still slowly jogging forward. We can't really press with him in the team, as couldn't get around quick enough. Which is important aspect in today's modern game. Those are the basics, not sure you can build a team with someone who is being dispossessed so often. That being said, I think with a pre-season we will see a better version of him. His cameo's recently have been more positive.
  2. I don't think Eddie Howe is the type of person to go into a match with a deliberately weaker team than possible. I'm sure he selected that particular 11, based upon his own belief that it gives us the best chance.

Actually got an assist that day and was our best midfielder out of all of them ironically.

I quite like him, think he's a top talent.
  5. For a team well out of form, with nothing to play for against one of the best teams in Europe right now... Yes, we lacked quality in the final third.
  6. It's takes some going to use a loss, away at Arsenal, as further evidence that Eddie can't turn it around. We played well, and with a better front 3 we take something out of the game, imo.

And he acknowledges that and say he owns that decision. Has to set it right in the summer.
  8. Wissa was the Wilson replacement. He's not worked out at all. Considering how good he was at Brentford, it's been hugely disappointing. Considering we had to overpay for him as well. And the Isak argument isn't exactly weak, he was arguably the best striker in Europe, it boils down to, would we have more or less points if we adequately replaced him?
  9. His replacements hasn't really worked out have they. We didn't expect to have to replace him, and the more suitable players moved elsewhere. We gambled on Woltemade.
  10. I would say after this summer window.

Might be something in that. His cameo's have looked better recently.
  12. I mean.. we are closer to 7th than 18th.
  13. He wanted numerous players that we didn't get. And I'm pretty sure it's more complicated process than what you're making out. PIF have a process driven approach to any decisions that are made. Hence the snail like pace.
  14. Transfer windows are very important. It locks your squad in for the forthcoming season, our struggles are due to it. We have had no capable strikers and terrible goalkeeping performances. The summer we overspent on mediocrity, poor identifying of players, bad planning all those things. All those things aren't solely on Howe- There has been a lot of chaos behind the scenes. He has tried his best and come up short, now needs to fix those holes in our squad. Hopefully we are more prepared this time.
  15. This is a great post. Totally agree about looking for reasons to justify their views by twisting reality and difficult circumstances to form an unflattering narrative around Howe. It's all rather ugly. Wish some people would look into the facts more.
  16. I don't think anyone wanted to play for Almiron, except Bruno F. Almiron was playing for the sack at the end. The players all had a spring in their step and more fight when he left. Their form is tailing off now - certainly performances, and if Carrick gets the gig permanently they will regret that next season. Purple patch from a new manager bounce isn't the way for forward. Case in point us with Glenn Roeder.
  17. The summer has been explained to death. If you think our backroom team was stable, and we had a normal pre-season than salut.
  18. If Chelsea had stayed patient with anyone of their successful managers in recent years such as Tuchel, they wouldn't be as shit as they are now. Same with Spurs and Poch. Those teams have spent years under performing due to appointments which hasn't worked out. Not many hit the ground running.
  19. I don't necessarily agree with that but for argument sake, sure, the others were far from first choice. With either Trafford/Mamardashvili and Ekitike, we have much better season imo.
  20. Neither was Ekiteke, Sesko, Cunha, Szoboslai, Pedro, Olise who he has all tried to sign. It's such a lazy narrative at this point. Any top team is full of athletes. It's literally the modern game now. But you need the quality as well.
  21. Who is the next best momentum manager around, can we bring them in? We need momentum. Totally daft.
  22. If people stay patient we can find out for ourselves. But a bad appointment can set us back how many seasons?
  23. 'Momentum' isn't 3 and a half seasons.
  24. Boggles my mind that he doesn't get more support on here. Or some benefit of the doubt. You would think he has earned that much at least. Some can't even be arsed to even respect him anymore.
  25. 'Faux outrage' the thread
