  1. Jlaus Hans Kuntelaar? Freudian slip? Not enough Argies in Holland. Gotta be Spain.
  2. Keano plans £15million hat-trick By STEVE BRENNER ROY KEANE is planning a £15million triple swoop for Anton Ferdinand, Benni McCarthy and Michael Ball. Sunderland manager Keano is waiting to hear if West Ham defender Ferdinand fancies a move to Wearside after Hammers boss Alan Curbishley accepted an £8m bid. Former England Under-21 star Ferdinand, 23, is considering his options and will give Sunderland an answer within the next 48 hours. But Keane is hopeful of landing his man. And the Black Cats chief is also working hard to bring in Blackburn ace McCarthy. Keane will offer £6m for the South African striker, 30, after having an initial £5m bid rejected on Friday. He has spoken to both players, while also asking about Manchester City’s £1m-rated Ball, 29 and Manchester United left-back Mikael Silvestre, 31. If Keane manages to seal the treble swoop it will take his spending since landing promotion two seasons ago to a whopping £70MILLION. But skipper Dean Whitehead, 26, could be heading out of the Stadium of Light with Fulham, Middlesbrough and Stoke all interested in the midfielder. FOOTBALL chiefs have confirmed the transfer window will be extended 24 hours until midnight on September 1.
  3. Me too, I think we should give them the Falklands back in thanks. In reverence I think I'll doff my proverbial cap by having a corned beef sandwich in tomorrow's lunch box!
  4. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1046495/Newcastle-step-bid-capture-Real-Madrid-striker-Saviola.html?ITO=1490 Shamelessly nicked from the Chronicle! They actually forgot to delete "Chronicle"! Imbeciles!
  5. I was impressed with Guthrie yesterday too - neat, tidy and made some good passes.
  6. Besides Saviola what would be two other realistic (i.e. no Messi) Argies? Colo's best friend Burdisso? Maybe Riquelme? Can't get enough of the Argies!
  7. Saviola would be fantastic - 5" 6 or not. He's got a cracking goalscoring record and would have a number of Spanish speakers in the squad to help him acclimatise. Especially if this is a loan it really would be a great signing.
  8. They couldn't afford his wages.
  9. Everton looked horrible (albeit with no signings and a few injuries) and got booed off. Blackburn thoroughly deserved to win and Warnock had a decent game - it was his free-kick that led to the winner in injury time.
  10. Yes, I think it could be really him. Looks too young to be him. Mpenza is 30 now.
  11. It's only 2.5 hours to Bolton - I do that every day to Tokyo. Seems like he wants out or that he's got on Keegan's bad side.
  12. In order of Likelihood; Warnock Tiago Larsson add a striker, or if needs be swap larsson for one, and i'd bite your hand off I meant the next one will be one of those 3. I believe the next two signings will be Warnock and Tiago. Any more news on Tiago? I thought he was off to the Toffees. Baptista would be nice but it looks like he might be off to Roma.
  13. And where can we find a centre half for 2m to replace him? Just doesn't make sense.
  14. Just plain daft if it's true. Who will we replace him with? Danny Gabbidon? I'm sure he'll create a huge stampede of folk trying to snap up the many unused season tickets.
  15. Hopefully no Berbatov - it seems to have gone a bit quiet on that.
  16. Would 9m get our perennial target SWP? He might not get many games with Big Phil next year.
  17. "Certainly United do not believe in doing things in a hurry these days". The one thing I agree with. We haven't exactly been on the ball to say the least and our forthcoming punishment at Old Trafford could well be as bad as last season. Not the best way to kick off a new season.
  18. Depressing reading! Everton eyeing swoop for NUFC target Tiago Aug 14 2008 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle EVERTON are ready to hijack Newcastle United’s move for Portuguese international midfielder Tiago. We reported on our Chronicle Live website yesterday afternoon that United had agreed a loan deal with Juventus, with an £8m deal becoming permanent in 12 months time. But United’s executive director Tony Jimenez has been unable to agree on just what contribution Newcastle would made towards the players wages and the deal stalled. This alerted Everton and, as David Moyes already has another Portuguese player with him at Goodison Park in the shape of Nuno Valente, a switch from Italy, where he has flopped, to Merseyside suddenly looks more attractive to Tiago. Everton have yet to move into the transfer market as buyers in the close season, and even if they do pull off the signing of Tiago it will not lessen their interest in United striker Alan Smith. Smith is not the only United striker in demand as Ipswich Town are finally hoping to tie up a £2.5m deal for Shola Ameobi. The Chronicle revealed on June 9 that Ipswich wanted Ameobi and it has taken over two months for the move to materialise. Certainly United do not believe in doing things in a hurry these days. There was still be no announcement from the club regarding the £10m signing of Fabricio Coloccini from Deportivo La Coruna, even though the Argentinian central defender has been on Tyneside for nearly a week and has been training with the club. However, United tell me that there could be news on Coloccini in the next 24 hours, but this has not stopped talk coming out of East London saying Kevin Keegan is a big admirer of West Ham centre- half Danny Gabbidon. United have until noon tomorrow to register Coloccini if he is to play against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. And the same applies to Jonas Gutierrez, whose paperwork still had not arrived at St James’ Park from Spain by first post today, and unless it comes he will miss out on the opener at Old Trafford. There isn’t much good news round for Keegan as far as Sunday is concerned. After watching Michael Owen and Abdoulaye Faye jogging around at yesterday’s open day, while the rest of their colleagues were put through a full session at St James’s, it is hard to see how either can be involved at Old Trafford. And it remains to be seen whether Keegan will still go ahead with the behind-closed-doors friendly he had planned to give Owen a work-out. In addition Oba Martins has been back in Nigeria after having knee trouble .
  19. He's always injured! Underwhelming again though hopefully Wor Alan is "wide of the mark"!
  20. 9m being mentioned by some rumourtastic ITKs. Providing we spent it well I'd have no objection about him going.
  21. More media madness: Bolton poised for Ali bids Interest mounts in Trotters' No.2 A number of Premier League clubs are ready to try and prise Ali Al Habsi away from Bolton Wanderers. The impressive Omani shot-stopper looks set to be No.2 to Jussi Jaaskelainen once again this season, but Al Habsi is looking for more this term. He impressed hugely last season when he finished the campaign in between the sticks, with Jaaskelainen injured. Al Habsi also featured regularly in the Uefa Cup - including an outstanding display against Bayern Munich, who, along with a number of Bundesliga clubs, showed an interest. Now skysports.com understands that Everton, Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Hull have all shown fresh interest in the last few weeks. Bolton have always insisted that they have no intention of letting Al Habsi leave - but with the player shunning their offers of a new contract, and with Jaaskelainen secured on a long-term deal, they may consider a sale at the right price. Al Habsi has just a year left on his current deal and will be free to talk to other clubs in January.
  22. Definitely mate. I have some sexy ball-juggling skills to show off. Anyway, I've got to dash - Keegan's just been on the blower. I see you've picked up the lingo quickly. My mate Micksta reckons we are signing some new players - any news Fab?
  23. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry. Chops and Shola up front? The Mackems could have watched them play together at Kingston Park a few years ago for a couple of quid!
