I really like him coming off the bench against tiring sides. He is the epitome of the impact player at present. Just needs one to go in as he has a chronic lack of confidence.
-
He did have a good first half and I think the voting takes place during the second half - he certainly didn't deserve MOM for the whole 90 mins
-
Totally incongruous with the rest of his game. I think he's too thick to allow the pressure to get to him
-
Can only play the opposition in front of you though. I agree that there is no need to go over the top mind
-
The Gallowgate were certainly buying into his enthusiasm - even before the kick off
-
About 2m I think (varying depending on the leaague we're in)
-
His injuries have certainly hindered his development. As for Best, Pards seems to like getting players back before the summer. Presumably to give them a psychological lift.
-
He was alright but certainly not the best player on the pitch. Foster for me.
-
I thought he played really well first half, but had no influence on the game 2nd half.
-
Good win. Could have been more convincing, granted. For a newly promoted team against major trophy winners it was fine tho
-
next season will tell us a lot about whether the decision to sign him was a wise one. If he keeps getting niggles it'll start to look like we've got a dud
-
My point is that playing again this season should never have even been on the agenda. Ah reet. I agree actually but imagine that he was the one doing any pushing.
-
Doesn't look like he's been pushed in any way at all. You'd imagine he probably wanted to play some part. As soon as there is a problem it sounds like he decides how and where to deal with it. Wonder what the complication is. Must say i'd have liked him to stay here until the summer break. A bit worrying.
-
Evan that isn't as good as it was. They aren't linking up as intuitively as they did at the start of the season
-
Premiership the best league in the world. So good it breaks the space time continuum
-
Same here. His pace and strength are real virtues defensively. However, his decision making and distribution are suspect at times. He may look better in a team with more movement around him though. Guess we'll find out next year.
-
Fair point about the set pieces. We have very little threat from corners and free kicks at the moment
-
I agree, seems to have gone by the wayside. Incidentally I miss yelling 'STEPS' as the opportunity useed to present itself at the match

Hell f***ing fire. Honestly don't know how people can come up with statements like this at times. Yes, of course they bloody have. We wouldn't still be in the division. Cast your mind back to 08/09, and see the effects of a dressing room that genuinely couldn't give two shits. 'Better' players, too. Today we finished the game with Kuqi and Ranger upfront. And we're still comfortably ahead of the relegation pack. Yes, the players care. It's the kind of infuriatingly hyperbolic nonesense that some people can't resist after a defeat sadly

Agree on the encrochment. Those 2 corners in the first half were a joke Thought 'Meresh' timed his run quite well. When Barton's foot made contact with the ball he was about 9 yards away but because he was running into the path of the ball it made it look like he was far closer. Good tactic tbh. 9 yards ain't 10 though is it? Should have been pulled up on the 2nd one Virtually impossible for the ref to see that though. There's no line on the park and he's got to keep an eye on what's happening in the box too. And it's in front of the Kop. Did you really expect him to book him? No I expected to be able to retake the second one as it was blocked and he had encroched

Newcastle United v Birmingham City Pre-match thread (07/05/2011 - 3pm KO)

Sunny day, few beers. Was hoping I'd be able to buy the new kit - but it doesn't look like it'll be available. No pressure - the job is done for this season. -
He and Nolan mean more than that in terms of continuity and team spirit though.
