  1. Exactly. Who the hell is going to sell us anyone even half-decent now?? fucking 5 days left in the window for Christ's sake? it'll be some tripe on loan, can see it coming.
  2. Think it's clear from the 3 games so far that our striking pool is actually bloody awful. Ba may come good in time but signs are not good so far, maybe it's just a fitness thing? because he did look good in the past. The rest are a mixed bag of the mediocre who perform ok once in a while (Ameobi/Best) and the utterly terrible (Loven/Ranger). So really, I think we need 2...no chance of it happening, we've mucked around for far too long this summer. Nobody is going to sell anyone good in the last 6 days of the window unless we offer stupid money, like the bin dippers did for Carroll...and we all know we won't. I doubt we'll sign anyone, maybe someone like Ngog on-loan. Brutal. Edit to say...I can see Sammy and Vuckic getting more playing time as the season goes on. I hope they progress and we don't ruin them, not ideal to be throwing them in expecting them to be the answer to our problems up front. That said, they just might be our saving grace this year. Ashley and co have a lot to answer for.

To what end exactly? like it would be spent anyway. Only concern here is that we're another player down, there has to be investment in the squad before August 31st.
  4. I don't think he will be replaced, we'll just shoehorn players from the squad in there. No way we'll spend money on another right-sided player. Priorities lie elsewhere anyway.

Saddened by this, and I personally think we'll miss him a lot more than some believe. No point dwelling, have to move on now...no more outgoings please, the squad is beginning to look emaciated. Absolutely no excuses now from a financial perspective (not that there ever should have been) for not getting in the 3 or 4 we desperately need.
  6. Like Man U and Chelsea haven't been reported for tapping up players. Come off it man all clubs do it. Charlton should take the money and use it to get their shitty dressing rooms painted. didn't chelsea actually get the ban, only for it to be removed later...? (edit: google confirms this ) Related to the Kakuta deal I seem to recall. Look i'm sure all clubs do it, but this on top of the general transfer incompetence just fills me with dread and frustration is all. When will they get something right?
  7. Suggests that any proposed transfer is actually no closer to happening than before. Great. Or that the deal might be closer but until the two clubs reach an iron cast agreement PSV will keep playing him. Hope you're right, this assumed price wrangling is going to cost us points eventually, just wish it would get done. No reason this couldn't have been finalized at the beginning of this week. Really, hows that then? /Come on Colin, spill those ITK beans. Not ITK obviously, just appears that we're wrangling over the price for the sake of a million or whatever, in the meantime, games are coming up and we're stretched pretty damn thin at the back. Why this has taken so long is beyond me, we sold Enrique 2 weeks ago man. Can anyone reasonable explain that? beyond Ashley being cheap and not wanting to pay the going rate, I can't think of anything else

How can it be a joke when even on a free only clubs like QPR and West Ham are the only ones to show interest? Did you even think this through? Don't give a toss if only QPR and West Ham are the only one's interested. I'm p*ssed off we're losing a key player on the pitch and in the dressing room for jack s***. The only reason the 'bigger clubs' aren't in for him are do to with off the field stuff nowt to do with him as a player. The fact you can't see that shows who isn't thinking. Agree totally but the lack of fee is the last concern here, since we all know fine well any fee wouldn't get re-invested anyway. The issue here is their pathetic, snails pace player recruitment efforts. They'd embarrass a Championship outfit, never mind a getting re-established premier league team.

Why don't the feckers running (ruining?) us realize that by selling (or giving away) first, we advertise our desperation to potential selling clubs? Are they truly this clueless? If we kept the players we plan to sell until a replacement was in the bag, we'd have some leverage. Now clubs know what we need and how much we have and have us ower a barrel as we flounder around trying to buy their players who they don't really want to sell. Is Ashley really this thick? The Supply and Demand class at Business college must have passed the fat idiot by. /brokenrecord

Urghh, I hate these owners. Amazing how it seems like after every good result on the pitch, there's some crappy news just waiting to break in the background. They never seem to follow up with something good in the offing, like a deal agreed with a good player in a position of need. Nah, we'll just give away another one. Just once, it would be nice.

summed up very well. Don't see how anyone can argue with a word of that.

I don't think anyone on here is kidding themselves and in Barton's shoes, most would do the same. It may well be true that in the end, we won't miss Nolan's goals and influence or Barton's set pieces and his way of generating team spirit. My own problem with this is simply the short-sighted way we're doing things, giving players away with no replacement in sight. That's not what was promised by this incompetent, lying regime. . .you NEVER give away a player without a replacement, and with only 7 days left to scramble for his likely lesser replacement ffs.

I'm sure QPR are looking to make a big statement of intent, so Barton can probably ask for whatever he wants and will likely get it. Annoys the piss out of me that a crappy little club like QPR with about 12k fans (inflated to 20k for the premier league) now have an owner come in ready to spend whatever it takes. We have 50k most weeks and a hard core of about 35-40k and we get the one billonaire who wants to spend whatever he finds down the back of his couch. We won't even spend what we bring in apparently...wasn't that the whole remit? no capital outlay, we can only spend what we generate? where's our f***ing left back and striker you cheap tw@ts???
  16. LionOfGosforth

    Joey Barton

No doubt he's as good as gone, QPR will offer him a huge contract and that will be that. Ya know, the mongs running this club could have avoided all or most of the bad taste from selling Enrique and kicking Barton out by just having the foresight to have their replacements in the bag first. If we signed Pieters and then sold Enrique and signed (for arguments sake) Barnetta prior to letting Barton go, most would be willing to just move on. They do everything backwards, sell or give away players and worry (if they even worry at all) later about replacing them. Just the wrong way to do business. Not that they give the slightest toss about what the fans want or think

Not this again...do people think Enrique and Carroll played for feckin buttons like? THEIR wages should be their REPLACEMENT'S wages ffs, we shouldn't have to push other players out the door to allow a left back and a striker in man.

I wouldn't be worried if he did, he's been distinctly average for quite a few games now and his free kicks are crap. Do you think that maybe part of the reason he's been arguably below par (not sure I agree but it's certainly debatable) is because of the way this club's idiot hierarchy have treated him? That perhaps morale is more of a problem than the ability which he showed for large parts of last year? I don't know, was morale a problem for his first 3 years here? What most people seem to forget is that he's been here for 4 years and been good for about half a season. I think he can be a good player when he's really fired up, he can also do idiotic things. Like I said I'd prefer to keep him as a squad player, but he's not a player I'd be gutted to see go. I'd still be disappointed if he did go and we didn't replace him though. I personally think he is a big part of why we have 4 points on the board already. He has worth beyond his "free kicks", he's a leader on the pitch whatever anyone thinks of his behavior past and present and a lot of the players in our team respond to him. That he has done stupid things in the past and not provided value commensurate to what we paid for him in fees and wages is obvious. That he today is worth a lot more than being pushed out the door to bloody QPR is also obvious IMHO.

Don't like this any way it's spun but i'd have a heck of lot less of a problem with it if we had a reasonable replacement in the bag. As per usual, that is beyond the nitwits running us. Seven days left and another player gone.

Anyone who thinks we won't miss this player on the pitch AND in the dressing room is off his/her rocker. The fact we're giving him away is beyond belief but actually the least of the problems with this. I wonder where our wage bill will be after Barton's gone? Probably if not for Smith and Colo (who will be the next big name sold no doubt), in the bottom six of the league. Which is where we're going to end up if we keep chucking players out and not replacing them properly. If he leaves this window, we're a left back, striker AND a good midfielder down, 7 days to replace all 3

    Yep...therein lies the problem...
  23. Us at Spurs in the FA Cup in 87 was supposed to be very similar. 12000 went down for that and were shoehorned in by all accounts, with some fans having to escape by climbing to the top tier. Am sure there are some fellow old-timers on here who may well have been there (I listened in on Metro) Yep was at that game. Time has dimmed the memory but recall standing on the side of one of the pens behind the goal for most of the game. Some barriers actually broke at the hinges and came away under the strain. Recall the Met weren't too keen to allow those getting crushed at the front out and into the section to the extreme right which was next to their fans. Was closed for segregation, in the end they had to open the gates at the front and allow a fair few into that section. Much gentle banter insued. I was 16 and terrified for the first 40 or so minutes until I was able to get across and up onto the side. Easily could have been close to or as bad as Hillsborough. Feckin coppas in those days down there were real bastards. Got a right chasing outside as well, perfect day really. i was on the fence to that segregation section they opened, watching seat parts flying down from the shelf Lets not forget the flying bottles...was ridiculous, like a war
