Glad to hear he's having a good game against moderate opposition as you would expect, when he really finds his feet, he's gonna be a fantastic asset. Fans loving his performance this quick is a good sign. -

He's shite is what's wrong with him can't pass or tackle without fouling -
Watched the Man Utd game again. When he runs, he seems to "lope" a bit and he definitely likes to come inside on his left foot so the Waddle comparisons are pretty accurate. Wonder if the coaching staff might prefer him on the left side to play more as a traditional winger, time will tell. He's without a doubt different to what we've had before and if he can provide good service from either flank we're onto a winner.

Didn't like losing Cabella in the deal as we never got to see what he could have done as a 10 in our team with proper coaching and a run without injury. That said, Thauvin I think will prove to be a lot more useful in our side than Cabella would have. Looking forward to seeing him develop, hope he settles and integrates well.

He definitely didn't appear quick but he was clever in his movement around the box, competed for everything and looked like he relishes physically challenging defenders. Away from home when we need someone to hold up the ball, he appears to be the best we've had for a long time and he will also help in defending set pieces with his strength and height. On the downside, his lack of speed will allow defenses to push higher up the pitch without the threat of him running in behind and press us back so tactically a few challenges ahead. Still like what I saw, only a kid too so the potential is huge.

No problem at all actually, I agree with your appraisal and if you read my earlier posts defending Thauvin against TCD's baffling expectations, you'd know that. Not sure how you can say "not as quick as I assumed" though, what were you expecting like? Can any new player be given time to settle, find his feet and gradually show what he's he's about anymore? If every player's qualities were concluded after 20 mins, barely any f***er would make it as a player at the toon. His qualities haven't been concluded, man. Just hate it when a brand new player isn't given more than 5 mins to find his feet. Seen it a thousand times. With hindsight, perhaps I overreacted slightly
-
"Not as quick as I assumed" isn't really a criticism, it is just a comment from people that hadn't seen him play before such as myself on how he was different to what they thought he would be That's a very fair comment and a lot more reasoned than "you'd expect your expensive new winger to trouble Shaw who's played for 70 mins" or whatever shite he posted. Forgetting he mugged him with basically his first touch.

Aye reet so let's make a statement professing an opinion while admitting we actually know 100% fuck all about him. Then agree with it. Amazing

I know, someone kindly warned me earlier. My own fault. His logo's fucking rubbish and annoying an'all.

Ok, so IMHO being match fit in one country and league (if he even was) is different than another country and league. There's an adjustment that takes longer than a 20 min cameo to judge anything surely? And besides, other than looking a little tired near the end (most likely mental tiredness and adrenaline brought on by his first appearance), he looked fit enough to me flying down the pitch from the edge of his own penalty area in about 12 seconds to almost score in the opposition 6 yard box. I saw no evidence of lack of match fitness or ability to run there. Any other vague claims, not based in reality to support a puzzling adgenda, to make? You're a looney. His physical conditioning is not a factor when you've had a full pre-season, played 2 league games and come on for the last 20 minutes for your new side. Sure he may not have adapted to the mental pace of the league but he'll not get physically much faster just by being here for awhile. He shouldn't be getting tired after 20 minutes man. I don't think he was particularly tired anyway, you're just making things up and sounding crazy. You are even agreeing with me in the end lol. Yes he's fully match fit, yes he's running like he will come to run and yes he got caught like an Elephant by a Lion by Luke Shaw. Sure, Shaw is rapid and it may have been a mental slowness rather than a truly physical one. But I was hoping he was a direct, pacy strong running type and early indications show that might not be the case. No biggie. can't draw any conclusions yet. I just said he didn't look as fast or as explosive as I had hoped. You came caping in saying "he probably isn't match fit" but erm... he probably is. "B.b..but match fit in Ligue 1 isn't the same as the PL" - what you talking about? Relax mate. I'm perfectly relaxed "mate". I debated your original daft point that you were disappointed he didn't come on and make a mug out of Shaw (which ironically he did immediately with that shoulder drop). I countered with the reasons why which you also argued with, specifically, the match fit point and whether he is or isn't. I just said other factors are just as or more important. You then said his ability to run shouldn't be affected. It wasn't as clearly shown by that 90th minute counter. Another daft statement - "But I was hoping he was a direct, pacy strong running type and early indications show that might not be the case". I personally can see why he may take time to impress and become what we want but you want to judge him and conclude he might not be direct or pacy enough for your liking based on 20 minutes at Old Trafford and i'm the looney? Good Grief. Carry on mate.

He's been here 5 minutes, doesn't speak the language, has barely trained, probably isn't even nearly match fit and hardly knows his team mates. Of course he should belt onto the pitch and start murdering full backs away from home when we're defending for our lives man. Just the full pre-season and two league games in Ligue 1. Aye validates your point entirely Eh? It just invalidates his. Don't even know who you're arguing with. You seem to be saying that because he had a full pre-season in France with a different team, coach and players and 2 Ligue 1 games, that means he's completely ready for a new league and nowt else matters and that: Completely negates not knowing the language Doesn't matter that he has barely trained Means nowt not knowing new team mates or being 5 mins in a new country and league If you're then still expecting him to join a game in which we're defending for our lives and proceed to demolish Shaw, then you're full of shit or a total WUM.

Hopefully McClaren realised today that having an actual player with intelligence and heart covering your left back, leads to your left back actually looking like a left back.
-
He was a handful early, roasted Mbemba a couple of times but then faded. Not as quick as I expected but tricky.
-
I think Shaw is a bit better than he's getting credit for in this thread, a lot of their attacks came down that side. He's not a 30 million player but the fee is hardly his fault. As for Thauvin, I like what I saw. Once he settles in, gels with the squad and gets fully match fit and premier league "ready" I think we'll see a real player. Today was just a cameo but I like that he looks to get forward quickly, is positive and intelligent with very quick feet. Needs patience though, young kid, big fee, new country.
-
Brilliant team player. How much better did our left side look today without the Brainless simpleton Obertan failing miserably to cover an exposed left back. No coincidence either that Haidara's performance was light years better with the confidence of quality cover from Ayoze when he attacked. Perez needs a run in the team, love his spirit, quality and team ethic.

About 3 or 4 french papers plus Gary Jacob from the Times, it's a little more than twitter bollocks. Aye it does seem to have more to it than other rumours. Could be an interesting signing, just hope he can play right side and Aarons isn't the one to miss out if McClaren ever gets over his Obertan fetish.
-
Provence apparently is the word of God when it comes to these things. Cheers, I just looked further back and saw that. Well, i'm all for spending on a player with ability in a position that needs quality. If we're ever going to start Mitrovic and hope to get the best out of him, he'll need that service. Hope if he does come this isn't to the detriment of Aarons' growth and we still have dosh left for a couple of defenders. Forlorn hope probably.

Isn't this all still just rumour at this point? Twitter bollocks? or is there substance to it? I haven't seen anything anywhere to suggest it's more than that unless I missed something.
