Tino is a year or so removed from a torn ACL. With so many injuries, I wouldn't be surprised if EH doesn't quite want to risk a big asset so easily too soon and perhaps his training regime will ramp up and we'll see more of him later this season and next. That's my guess anyway.
-
We've also just took 7 from 9 scoring 10 goals including 2 tough away games. Following on from going into the 5th round of the cup, destroying the Mackems on their own ground. I think i'll lean on the positives to get me through it.

Christ . That Tino is still recovering from injury. That he doesn't see Tino as a LB. Maybe Tino doesn't train quite as well as he thinks he should. That Burn brings a tactical structure to the team that he prefers. The back 3 component to our success last year. Experience and familiarity with the others at the back. Tino can come on and make a difference which Burn isn't likely to do. That he's loyal and enjoys fostering harmony and that means not booting players out because a few nutcases in our fanbase can't help but revel in negativity and enjoy being right when things go wrong. All or some of the above and probably a dozen others that neither I or you can guess because we don't know what goes on behind the scenes. That enough for you?

Do you really think our best manager in 20 years, who took us from rock bottom to 4th in 18 months, sits and analyzes recent games and says to himself "Ya know what, Burn's struggling, we're gonna keep conceding with him at LB, plus we're playing Forest this week and they have a pacy bloke at RW. Burn will again struggle, so I think I quite like the sound of that and i'm going to keep him in so that I can fulfill all of the negative prophecies on Newcastle-Online"? At this point it probably should occur to you (and the others questioning the sanity of this), that there are a myriad of reasons why Burn is playing, why Tino doesn't just come in. And none of those reasons will include enjoying seeing our left side get roasted and conceding goals because of it.

No sweat mate, i'm in here fighting EH's corner, not questioning him.

Nottingham Forest 2-3 Newcastle United (10/02/24)

Exactly why I brought it up and took issue with it. It's one thing to react emotionally in the moment, we all do it to some degree. But the disrespect in these match threads game after game for our best manager in 2 decades is incredible. Same 5-6 posters most weeks. -
I'd add tactical structure to that (maybe you meant that by the back 3 comment), plus team harmony/loyalty and also, he doesn't think he's as bad as some on here clearly do. Also Tino may be struggling in training due to prior injury...so yeah, plenty of reasons. I'm not the one screaming in match threads about it and calling our esteemed gaffer an idiot and a fraud so not quite sure why you picked on my post
-
Not sure many people can beyond it's all part of a tactical structure that EH prefers. At a certain point, and I say this as one of Eddie's biggest supporters, it becomes a problem keeping the same player in the firing line and getting it in the neck for making mistakes, all for the sake of loyalty/team harmony and/or tactical structure. Unless Tino needs managing due to prior injury.

I think this is a key part, we don't know what's up behind the scenes, there's reasons for everything. I'm as perplexed by the Burn thing as most.
-
That's a bit different than what you actually posted which was to call him "a fucking idiot" in 2 separate threads. Emotive reactions are one thing, but that's just ridiculous drivel really.

Great win. But these match threads man, seen EH described as "a fucking idiot" and a "fraud" over the course of 90 minutes. Fucking shocking following these threads. -
Sheff Utd 3-1 up at Luton, great result for the scouse mackems
-
I mean not really, there's something like 10 points covering about 14 places down in that trash league
-
Champo is such a weird crap league. Sunderland have only won something like 5 of their last 14 and are constantly either just in or just outside the top 6.
-
Hudds 2 up at Soton, huge shock on the cards there
-
Won't last, it never does. The amount of times they were losing or drawing last season and pulled it out late gave me fucking ulcers
-
Utter maniac, totally reckless and a red card waiting to happen every game
-
On current form, the surprise of the day so far

I know playing for these tramps must have an effect on your ageing process but kinell, just saw a pic of Gary Owers on the BBC website, he's only 55 but the bloke looks like a late 60s retired prison guard or something.

Nice one Cyril

Commentator "Sheffield United aren't finished here", 2 minutes later 5-2 Brighton.

Quality hat trick from Joao Pedro

Remember the Cole thing well and still recall the anguish and disbelief, especially where he went. Didn't even think the fee we got was particularly great either. I remember people saying "at least we got 7.5m for him", I think that was the fee but I mean Blackburn bought Sutton from Norwich the year before for 5m. Not saying he wasn't a good striker, he was more than decent for the type of player he was, dovetailed well with Shearer, but comparing him to Cole, Cole was Gerd Muller in the penalty area in comparison.

Don't know how they manage it but they always seem to be either just inside or just outside the playoffs, despite being totally shite most of the time. Weird league, must be about 12 teams in "contention" for the playoffs, they're actually only about 4 points from dropping as low as 14th
