Having said that, Ashley was known as an abrasive recluse when he took over and I, along with quite a few others on here, were suspicious from the offset. I don't think the same can be said for this new lot. When it comes to the takeover they've conducted themselves with class and dignity so far, and I can't see them neglecting this club for their own benefit. Besides it being an investment for them I suspect the Saudis also want to use it for sportwashing purposes, i.e. to improve their reputation abroad, but why should we be concerned about that. Their interests are much more aligned with ours than was the case with the fat mess the last 14 years.

These owners are night and day to him whose name I shall not mention anymore. Hope they continue in the same vein.

God damn Paul, that's a similarly beautiful and sad post. You, @Greg and so many others can hold your head up high that while you couldn't stop Ashley desecrating the club you love so much, you fought back as hard as you could and I like to think that it is this fight that finally made the club more hassle than it was worth for Ashley and convinced him to finally sell up for real. We have all pretty much lost 14 years of enjoyable football fan life, where everything has just felt incredibly numb. Some of our friends and family are not here anymore to see the day when hopefully the good times can return. I can't wait to set foot in Saint James' again and feel the club is back in harmony with its fans and your beautiful city!
