I don’t really understand all the calls for a LB in this thread. I mean, we have one of the best ones in the country in Hall, and I’d argue Tino’s also looked better for us on the left than he has on the right, so make that two of the best at LB. We’ll need to replace Trippier though, that’s the most pressing need in terms of the full back positions imo.

Osula is no worse than some of our other forward players, is he? I mean I’ve been reading the same comment as yours above for years about first Almiron, then Murphy, and here we are, a 55m investment further, with Murphy still as our best right winger and Elanga yet to show anything like what Almiron managed to do for us at his best. Who is even going to come here as third choice center forward who’s an upgrade on Osula?

As you say, Wissa’s absence and Elanga, Gordon and Barnes not producing are far bigger problems than Osula. Sure, if someone comes in again with a 30m offer he’s probably gone and we’d need a replacement, but chances of that are pretty slim and I’m not sure Eddie would want to lose him mid season. Personally I’m more frustrated about Wissa, for whom we overpaid (considering lack of resale value) and who was supposed to be the guy who was going to hit the ground running to fill the Isak shaped hole in our squad.

Osula is a perfect fit for a third choice center forward. Still developing and full of endeavour when he gets minutes. We’re not going to spend big on yet another center forward unless one leaves.
