  1. And the ever insightful Martin Hardy: "Are Newcastle United a Champions League club now?" We're in the Champions League you absolute dullard.
  2. "Is winning important?" Scott Wilson, Eddie's press conference.
  3. If you're still stuck, @Jimburst you can just hand that Austria one straight to Acuna.
  4. imagine going onto another team's message board and telling everyone what they think, and being totally wrong. Obscene levels of arrogance.
  5. Putting to one side the laughable virtue-signalling about club ownership, no one sensible wants PSR (or rather, financial regulation) deleting. People just want a system which doesn't act as a benefit to some clubs and a constraint to others.
  6. Fwiw I started accepting new registrations literally yesterday, thinking we were probably far enough past the transfer window closing that the Liverpool whoppers wouldn't be arsed any more. Oh well.
  7. Obviously I don't know a thing about them but they're pot 4. If we're not picking up maximum points against this lot, clearly it doesn't mean we won't qualify, but you wonder what we're doing here at all. Over recent seasons, it's been very well demonstrated that even rubbish PL teams are far too strong for all but the very best continental ones; it's our turn to demonstrate that utterly miserable fact.
  8. This isn't a controversial statement. Losing Isak automatically means we are a worse team, regardless of any signing. Losing his replacement as well has made our start to life this season all the more difficult. Losing the apparent third choice to suspension for three games was the cherry on top. Meanwhile Woltemade still can't finish a game and Osula isn't up to it. It's a bit of a mess really.

    Dogawful Officiating

I'm happy to listen to any argument that suggests we've faced some injustice, but if he's defended the situation fairly - and it's ricocheted onto his arm - it seems like a harsh call to give a pen. In a no-VAR world, I'm raging at the ref for not giving it in the first place, with the absence of digital recourse ensuring the decision stays.

If it's deflected off another body part then I can't really complain, it's not really different to the disgrace which was Tino against PSG. Not a chance in hell the ref has spotted that deflection though; God knows why he didn't call a pen to begin with. Then you've got the hope that it's not 'clear and obvious' enough for VAR to intervene... but the benchmark where that was concerned was already set, when they changed Arsenal's penalty decision based on information impossible for the referee to have in real time.
  11. Aye sometimes you've just got to hold your hands up and say, great goal. He's a menace in the air, Merino, and it was a brilliant header. For him to deliver an un-saveable finish from that awkward position was superb. Looks like he's been a good signing for them. The winner was obviously a disaster.
  12. Feel nauseous this morning. Thank Christ we've another game straight away.
  13. I wasn't; more defending the choice to go with five at the back and try and hold out, rather than try and take control of the game. I just don't think it was gonna happen, particularly not with Bruno off it and Tonali having his own flirt with concussion.
  14. Just flicking through insta and see our posts are flooded with Arsenal fans. Is that just a them thing or do all clubs' fans do that?
  15. My recollection is that Arsenal did absolutely nowt in the ten minutes after the triple sub. Miley for Tino is a decent enough shout, we could've done that. But tbh I don't think anything is sticking at the top end of the pitch with Osula on up there. He can barely stay on his feet.

    Nick Woltemade

Gabriel had him sussed for almost the entire game yet he bettered him once and scored, so that's incredibly encouraging. His footwork and neat passing continues to speak for itself. However, the Wissa injury gets more annoying with every single result atm; we desperately need a more wiley and faster striker; our lack of one is really hurting us atm. Potential with the guy looks enormous though and I don't think it'll be too long before he's really tearing it up.
  17. Calling me touchy is condescending. I don't think it's touchy to debunk criticism when it's OTT, and I've given you the OTT examples I was responding to. Anyway, there's more to be fucked off about tonight than this! The next game can't come soon enough.
  18. This is pretty condescending from you, like. I'm not gonna go round quoting people's posts but I've read "absolute shit" (re Howe), "embarrassing," "got everything wrong," "really poor," and apparently being responsible for us "throwing it away." Mild criticism is obviously fair enough; believe it or not I do occasionally have a dabble myself. OTT criticism which is either outright wrong or makes no nod to the obvious mitigation will always have me contributing with a defense. Frustrating that we're having this conversation but whatever.
  19. Pity you had to go there, then. I've seen plenty of criticism which has been OTT and I'll always get triggered by that.
  20. I'm not even sure how much of a tactical choice it was to let them build up momentum; Woltemade still isn't to to scratch fitness wise and Osula is no use against that standard of opponent. The version I picture in my head is: Tino stays on, our favoured back five continues to keep them out, we build in confidence and grasp some control back as the game goes on. It isn't plain sailing but we get a result.
  21. We won't go there, I think I'm in enough pain.
  22. Aye but they didn't have to sell Saka.
