  3. I reckon a few of our better players will stay and give us a season to get back up. They did the same at West Ham and Juventus. when did West Ham go down?
  4. Lucio transfer listed by Bayern
  5. But why do they need to bring in recognised superstars? There's no reason why they couldn't buy up-and-coming youngsters instead of trying to buy Europe's biggest clubs' star players. They'll have to pay the players double what the biggest clubs would. I like the way Lerner and O'Neill are going about things at Villa. What Citeh are doing, and what Chelsea did before them is vulgar, and bad for football. At least Chelsea typically pay silly money to a smaller club, which is a good thing. Citeh are trying to make Europe's richest clubs even richer! what, paying over the odds for English players ........ok not to city or chelseas extent but MON seems to overpay for average players Milner 12m, Davies 10m, Reo Coker 8.5m, Luke Young 6.5m, Sidwell 5m, Harewood 4m ,Heskey 4m(free 6 months later) etc
  6. NUFC turmoil means missing out on transfers Jun 26 2009 by Steve Brown, Evening Chronicle NEWCASTLE may have missed out on a freebie with recent Champions League experience this summer. And top agent Ian Elliott says it is all because of the power vacuum at St James’s Park. Elliott has touted the player to the Magpies to no avail because even his connections have left him wondering who to negotiate with at Gallowgate. A chief executive figure would help, Elliott believes. For all his critics, Freddy Shepherd had it right, he adds. But while United continue to fumble in the dark, Elliott insists the answer is staring them in the face: Alan Shearer. “I’ve got a top quality player with Champions League experience that I’ve been trying to put in to Newcastle on a Bosman free, but who do I talk to?” Elliott said. “There’s a raft of names out there but who do you approach? It’s very difficult until they put a manager in place. “Even then, if they talk to the quality players you would hope a club like Newcastle would be targeting, you bet your life there are other clubs after them as well. “They won’t attract the top drawer but if they appoint Alan Shearer, who has that aura Kevin Keegan had, they can still get good players. “The trouble for now is, which ones? Who decides? Normally you ask a club what they’re looking for and see if you can fill the vacancy, but how do you know what they’re looking for? “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a chief executive or a director of football handling transfers providing he is negotiating for players the manager has identified. “That can be a huge advantage, taking work off the manager’s plate. Most of them work within that sort of system, where the manager provides a list of players and says ‘Go and get them’. “I don’t think Kevin Keegan would have had a problem with Dennis Wise if the players they were bringing in were ones he’d identified. “Under Freddy Shepherd, Newcastle had a very good set-up. Managers chose the players they wanted and Freddy went out and did the business. That’s the correct way to do it. “Rightly or wrongly, Freddy always backed his managers to the hilt.”
  7. Chelsea are closing in on a £4m deal for Charlton's 17-year-old forward Jonjo Shelvey, who is also being tracked by Newcastle, Tottenham and West Ham. (Daily Express)
  8. Seems so. Just a bit rubbish that he went with 'easier'. Plus a future of missed-Januarys due to the stupid f***ing African Nations Cup. I don`t think playing in the Championship would affect his chances of playing in the Cameroon team at all. Judging from their squads for the world cups, ,african nations cup in the past, plenty of their players were called up despite playing for 2nd division French/German sides, Belgian league and obscure leagues like the Israeli leagues etc.
  9. Jimenez: Newcastle fans convinced me about joining West Ham Luis Jimenez says the passion of Newcastle United's fans convinced him about a move to West Ham. The Inter Milan forward joined on a season long loan with a view to a permanent £4million deal. He said: "I watched the final day of last season and saw how passionate the Newcastle fans were and what it meant to go down."

  13. Reading fan Charles McLeod could be the world's most devoted supporter after racking up an incredible 120,000 miles last season to watch his side 17 times - travelling from his hometown of Toronto, Canada. (Daily Mirror) Spent 14 grand last year on travel http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2009/06/22/club-class-115875-21461195/

  17. NOTW SUNDERLAND GO FOR LUALUA Former Newcastle striker in line for shock Black Cats move EX-NEWCASTLE striker Lomana LuaLua could make a back-flipping return to the Premier League - with a shock move to their bitter North East rivals Sunderland. The Black Cats' new boss Steve Bruce is a long-time admirer of LuaLua, 28. And he wants the DR Congo captain to be one of his first signings as he rebuilds at the Stadium of Light. LuaLua scored just five goals in 59 games for the Toon before moving to Portsmouth and then on to Greek side Olympiakos in August 2007. He has spent the past year with Qatar side Al-Arabi and said: "I loved my time in the North East. I'd love to play again in the Premier League."
  18. Tomas Radzinski Simeon Jackson Paul Stalteri that's it. Julian DeGuzman of Deportivo. And Fulham favourite Tomas Radzinski. also his brother Jonathan De Guzman, Owen Hargreaves, Kevin Mckenna, Jason de Vos. Nick Dasovic, Jim Brennan
  19. 15.51 Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has completed his first signing at the JJB having brought in Jordi Gomez from Espanyol on a three-year deal. The Spanish schemer impressed under Martinez at Swansea City last season.
  20. Shefki Kuqi claims two of the three relegated Premier League clubs are interested in signing him. The Finnish international is out of contract at Crystal Palace this summer and is yet to agree fresh trems. Kuqi is now considering his options, but claims there is big interest in his services. "I've not made a decision yet - I want more time to think," Kuqi told the Croydon Advertiser. "A couple of clubs that have come down from the Premier League have shown an interest in me." It is believed that the two relegated clubs in question are Middlesbrough and West Brom.
  21. Italy are a very good team but overrated
  22. to be fair he only really worked the magic here. at fulham and citeh he was given spending power far in advance of the competition. (i think) His masterstroke for Citeh in Division 1 was without doubt bringing in Bernarbia. Absolutely fantastic player. I remember when he was at Monaco and tore us apart in that UEFA cup quarter final.....with Henry on the wing
  23. Bassong opens exit talks Two English clubs in for Magpies defender Newcastle defender Sebastien Bassong has revealed that he is in talks with two clubs regarding a summer move. The Frenchman, who has committed his international future to Cameroon, was powerless to prevent the Magpies slipping out of the Premier League last season and was expected to be among those seeking an exit from St James' Park during the transfer window. The commanding centre-half has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal, while Manchester City, Aston Villa and Tottenham are also believed to be keen. It now appears to be only a matter of time before the 22-year-old, who only joined Newcastle from Metz last July, will be on his way out of Tyneside. Bassong has refused to reveal the identity of those clubs that have made an initial approach for his services, but he has admitted that discussions have been opened. "I have started to negotiate with two English clubs," he told Aujourd'hui Sport.
  24. Young is never going to go to Spurs, for two reasons. Firstly - why? What would be the point? Secondly - you couldn't afford him. Agree totally with the first reason, disagree with the second, there is money for the right signings. It's widely reported that AY hasn't settled in the area and his family are Spurs ST holders but that's no reason to expect him to sign. I agree with you, Young is never going to go to Spurs. Not having a go at you, MJ, but there are two of the most tiresome, continually trotted out London club cliches of the transfer market there. Firstly the "widely reported he's not settled in the area" / "wants to return to London" line (despite being from, err, Stevenage). Widely reported where? On every football forum on the internet, that's a phrase that gets trotted out when there is a rumour of a London club after a non London club player. I've not seen it yet in relation to the NRC / Spurs link, but I bet you what you like we hear it in the next few days. they:re grown men and they need to go crying home to their mums still ridiculous excuse about being homesick. Birmingham is only an hour and a half away from London isnt it?
