The guy is beginning to look like a complete charlatan. His post match schtick is just made up.

My least favourite footballing cliche. When you get a good manager, then try to keep him for 10+ years. Unless Ashley is mates with Martinez, Jol or some other decent coach and both parties are willing to work harmoniously it's all a moot point though. We're stuck with Pardew, no point twisting to nothing so we have to stick until Ashley goes, becomes mates with a better coach or kicks Pardew out of the regime (which we're a million miles away from IMO). Never and I mean never, underestimate Mashleys cunning ruthlesness.

More worrying is Pards newsbites and body language on the touchline, it's pretty clear to me he has no idea what is going wrong and even wether there IS actually something significantly wrong. A lot of his pronouncements I find disingenous and distracting from the real issues. He is basically in denial. That for me is seriously worrying.

I think deep down he is a good man, a man who it is clear has worked hard, a man who understands football, a man who has come up through the ranks. A man who was a glazier (window cleaner and mender) and took the risk of a tricky contract at Palace to have a chance to play football. He took a gamble and it paid off. He is in many ways a man who against all the odds made good. He, it is clear to me has learnt new skills and new methods of enahancing team formats and performance. He through choice has taken on one of the hardest jobs in football and to double that work with two of the trickiest characters to come into the game. He has worked within that budget...Not only the fianancial one, but the one that equates to self-worth. He was one of the lads when at Palace and was reknowned to be one of the ring leaders, perhaps even a future manager, it was a tough gig cause Kenny Sansom used to play left back for Palace and he was one of the best in the country at the time. I don't know. Sometimes you look up and you can go the extra mile. This is it Pards. This is Newcastle United. Give it all you know.

Absolutely. Think he's just out of his depth tbh.

This is what happens when the wonder goals stop. There has never been a cogent style apart from that small spell of games since he's been here. That being what it is, the team doesn't setttle into routines or passing phases when things get tough. They start to go long and get a bit panicky and disenchanted. Swansea are an average side who are well drilled with movement and a bit of nouse. That was too much for us. I think it might even get a bit worse if things go wrong in Jan and our blue chip players get offers.

Thread title change: Manager of the fear.

Gave it everything today. Diamond shining in pig shit.

Odds dramatically shortening on the Pardew Out thread.

Looked alright for about 30min and then it went all hoofupsideyerhead.

Playing some decent football. Hatem looks gold. Tiote very good composed performance.

Our players look tiny in the tunnel.

Unfortunately at the minute it's looking like he was on a good run of form last season. Sorry, but was just waiting for someone to post that fucking cliche'. A cliche maybe but it's true of Cisse. This is his first poor run in his entire career and he showed for us last season that he is a class player. You don't score the type of goals he was scoring (or even attempt some of them for that matter) if you haven't got ability. Think he had a barren spell at Freiburg - 10 games or so. I was asking some Germans about it.
-
The only player I see playing with any kind of freedom is Hatem and he still has to track back and knacker himself in our own half.

Preparing us for the shambles that is coming?

Maybe it's because I'm more into football because of the drinking and swearing than I am the intricacies, but sometimes I read stuff like Zonal Marking when they talk about why managers made certain choices and it fills me with a similar skepicism as when English teachers used to explain the hidden allusions behind every tiny detail in an author's work. "He called her that because it's a similar name to an egyptian God with a dog's head, symbolising her loyalty." rather than just liking the name. "He brought on his holding midfielder to adjust the pace of the game to further suit his modified peruvian Christmas tree formation and allow his goalkeeper to put additional pressure on the perpendicular channels." rather than because the guy he replaced looked a bit fucking knackered. Class.

Without delving into this can of worms too deeply, while it's true that Keegan's teams did lose games because he didn't set his teams up defensively and sometimes paid for it - we also used to beat the vast majority of mediocre teams through our superior firepower. Losing one game and winning two is better than drawing three. Yup. KK was one of the most simplistic managers around. 442 with players all over the pitch capable of scoring goals. Motivate and stand well back. If you've got quick witted and footed players then 442 works a treat. Anytime he tried to be clever in his first spell such as the wretched attempts at the then fashionable 3-5-2 we usually lost. Exactly.

KK rarely mentioned the other team. [/canofworms].
