You don't need realists when you have a board full of manic depressives. That would be overkill.

I can see this thread backfiring. As hundreds of minds focus on negative images. GM what have you done?!!

Been on the insane pills again ? Is that Phil "OMG!! I don't know where the next point is coming from..!!" K ?

Please turn the opera off. lol Funny though... Can I turn the opera back on yet? Yeah cause losing away to the champions with half the team missing really is an indicator. But maybe call the string section in for practice.

What £100M? http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=48562.0 Oh, the £100M our chairman Parky has decided we need to spend. Dreams win prizes.

Every time I mentioned Anelka half this board in its wisdom didn't want him and dragged out the old patter about 'Le Sulk' etc Shocking.

Two of my favourite players. Very irritating news. FS has moved up the Parky hit list confirmed. Is Parky on Parky's hitlist? If he doesn't behave. Yes.

Not only are the results becoming harder to deliver and the recent squabble over cash for players...Scoucers yank cowboys could be in bigger trouble with the debt beginning to cause huge implications. "Liverpool FC could change hands for the second time in a year as their American owners encounter difficulties in refinancing £350million of debt incurred in taking over and running the club. Beset by the steeply rising costs of a new stadium and manager Rafa Benitez's demands for new players, Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr have been attempting to transfer the debt, for which they are personally liable, on to the club itself. City sources believe this is an extremely difficult task to complete before the loan's due date at the end of February..." Tricky business. blueyes.gif http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2240166,00.html

Liverpool played more attractive football under Houllier than they're managing at the moment. There's little differance tbh. People are waking up to Benitez. The world catches upto me sooner or later.
-
Who you backing now Parky? Didier Deschamp is not keen on joining a club mid season & is one of the front runners to take over France after the Euro's. If not DD I'd go for Van Gaal or Houllier. With Houllier I would look to move him upstairs at some point as a DOF and then bring in Shearer with a couple of crack young coaches (one european and one english).

There are some interesting names in that Telegraph article, I hope these avenues will be explored before approaching Hughes.

Are you advocating the owner to buy players Park Life?

I don't think that was his tone tbf - I think he was trying to emphasise that he had done something "major" by putting that much money in to show he was serious rather than a figure of fun suggested by his sit with the fans image. I would stop short of kissing his arse but us being a debt free club is worthy of some gratitude I feel. Being debt-free doesn't affect the fans. If the efficient running of the club's finances eventually results in higher revenues which are invested in higher quality personnel, which in turn results in better performances on the pitch - then it affects us. Hasn't happened yet. I'll be grateful when it eventually - hopefully - does. Yeah, Luton fans aren't being affected at all mate. I agree with you Gol one day some people may grasp the concept that running a football club isn't quite the same as running Marks and Spencers It's easier.

Honestly, I didn't want to stir up the reaction I got, just the more I defended myself, Ashley's disciples took it as a slight on their hero. They see him as a footballing romantic who is just ploughing money into the club never to see it again. Yeah, that's why he took on a club - that he had no previous affiliation with - that was recently in the top 20 richest clubs, instead of the numerous smaller clubs in dire need. There's gold in them thar hills. There seems to be a myth perpetuated that football is a financial black hole, and anyone investing any money into it is just throwing it away for personal glory. Astronomical tv deals, tickets @ £30 a pop, yet apparently there is no money to be made in this business. The bigger the lie, the more it will be believed. Anyways, it doesn't matter if he is a prudent investor or footballing philanthropist. As our avaricious friend Shepherd taught us; if you make lousy choices, it is all for naught. I'm tired of being told what players we're going to buy and how we're going to play attacking football, and how great we're going to be. Don't sing it, BRING IT. Why doesn't he shut up and get on with delivering us these promises? Because all I can see right now is a managerless club with a barren transfer window ahead. Get us a top manager and give him enough money to give us a squad with a decent first 11 and cover in reserve. Then stand back and beam with pride. Don't brag to us at the aftermath of a disaster. It's distasteful. Nothing controversial in there. You say what you think mate.
-
Nothing new in there. Some nice and interesting sentiments and it looks like reinforced commitment to the project. However he needs to spend money on the pitch. You've bought a business Mike and you've stabalised it...No one asked you to. It's a business that relies on players and it's a business that is speculative in terms of risk. BUY some quality players.

But we don't know the exact circumstances - personally I think Ashley didnt trust SA with his money and wouldnt give him much in the window, SA got fed up, and so they mutally parted. Might not have been as simple as Mort just getting rid. I agree that the actual circumstances are obfuscated by the speculation and rumor, but the one thing we do know is that moments before he "mutually parted", Sam was at a press conference apparently under the impression that he was preparing for the Man United game. A reporter mentioned the rumor that he was no longer employed, he said he had no idea about that and left to speak with the chairman. An hour later he was gone. If the above is true, then Ashley and Mort were well aware of Sam's future long before he even suspected there was a problem. With that in mind, there has to be a surreptitious way to contact out of work managers and gauge their interest in the position. Right now it seems like they all walked into a room, sat down, undid their jackets, sipped some water, looked at one another and said "'arry? Right. 'arry then." and fucked off to Hong Kong. mackems.gif ....they couldn't find Nappies number and had to call Olivah for it.

This is the background feeling, that it is such a bad time to ditch if you haven't got someone cast iron ready to step in. Hopefully we are 'talking' to others right now.
-
I'm with you mate, agreed. Modesty at it's finest. No other bastard replied to it and I was getting desperate the idea got some recognition. :-[ It's been mentioned quite a few times now fella, Parky even has his own thread about it, which was posted 2 hours after your quoted comments, mind.

As I said earlier, this for me is a genuinely concerning thought... I fear we have we arrived at a defining moment for the club here... having pined for the end of the Shephred regime we have now ended up with exactly what we wanted - an owner who thinks like the fans - only for us to realise too late the dangers inherent in this situation... It could cut both ways, sure...but on present evidence, I am left wondering whether we'll even get someone half as competent as Allardyce. Ironically our best hope is that the Nappy fiasco has hurt Ashers pride and he will hit back with the only way he knows how....Big money!!

...back to square one?
