It will be Hughes. I'd get Whoolier in as DOF. ...and Shearer in as half time entertainment.
  2. Hasn't there already been a press release from the club saying they aren't looking at Al? Would be madness and another sign of desperation to go back on that imo. Keegan is finished stop this nonsense. He is a bit loopy these days as well. I meany Shearer as Houllier's number 2. What does any of what I said have to do with Keegan too? Seems like your the one whose gone a bit loopy parky! I've got SAK © on the brain.

  6. Your family member or Houlliers' family member? This is quite critical. I certainly believe Mort ahead of Redknapp. I believe Redknapp wanted the job as long as he could continue to live down south (because his wife wouldn't let them move) and we weren't having it and so he then came out and said he turned it down. I think that would have come up pretty early and so I doubt we offered him the job. My family member, saw them face-to-face. It doesn't mean we will get Houllier, but when all the crack on Thursday and Friday was that Redknapp was gonna be offered the job, it shows its bullshit made up by SSN/press. I guess Mort was going to approach Pompey to talk to Redknapp (just like he was talking to Houllier). Doesnt mean he was offered the job at all. interesting makes you wonder who else he has had a meeting with More than anything I'm glad it shows he is looking at foreign managers too, though if we are talking to Van Gaal for example, i would have thought rumours would be coming out from Holland, which they aint. Van Gaal has ruled himself out.
  7. They're trying to do too many things at the same time, the money simply isn't there for all of it.
  8. Without a huge transfer kitty SAK will have no hope.

My main concern now is fast dissapearing transfer window. Depends if Hughes has had his eyes on some players who were ultimately too expensive. This plus Ashley maybe wanting to show some intent might mean a couple of signings. Latest from the Telegraph.. "Sources at Blackburn say the club are braced for an approach for Hughes but they are confident of retaining his services. Hughes joined Blackburn in September 2004 and his performance there has won the admiration of Newcastle's billionaire owner, the sports retail tycoon Mike Ashley, who has commercial links with the Lancashire club."

Yep you make sense. I'm of the similar feeling. But maybe we are not able to go for the big guns yet. Exactly why it might have been better to wait till the summer.
  13. Not necessarily. Been pondering those Ashley comments and if you're being really cynical it sounds like he's after a "yes man" rather than a Mourinho. Does a manager in the Keegan mould exist these days? Would managers like Redknapp/Hughes have altered/alter their own philosophies on football and team selection, etc? It's a very funny one. I was speaking purely as a football fan. Watching teams pitch up for a goalless draw is rubbish, whoever the teams are. As always, I just hope for the best, and that the comments aren't meant as you say. Ashley deserves a bit of slack on the first few goes at this IMO. All we can do is hope, really, and support whoever accepts the job. I think it's plain to see that I'm now back in Hull... and that it's Monday tomorrow The fightback begins today. MA will be 'in the office'. Onwards and upwards.

Think about it a bit harder, and see if your opinion changes. I was right first time. To say he has "no reason" to lie is utter bollocks, although I do think you're probably right. There are a number of reasons that Redknapp would have to lie, but their not as big as ours are. Redknapp's pay has just doubled to 3m per the BBC as a result of this debacle. I think he had every reason to lie about a job offer from us.....it doubled his pay Clearly a non-debate. Nappy just sold us a paahhnd of toms.
  15. Our fans would probably give him about two seconds. Maybe less. I just checked, he's only 34! Just a year older than Butt. Butt's legs are actually 42 Geremee and Butt fight over oldest legs award in new toon trophy dilema?!

We really need to invest in the first 11. Btw I'm 90% certain it is Hughes. Is that based on piecing things together, like him refusing to rule himself out. Or do you posses a cystal ball of some sort? If you do would you please tell me when my girlfriend will stop being mental, ta. If she's a woman.....never.

  18. I don't think Enrique looks poor, like the others he's had his moments but needs games. Yup. Cacapa and Geremi need jetisoning immediately.

There is something very determined and seething about him which I like. Reminds me a bit of Fergie/Cloughie.
  21. Redknapp also ruled out any chance of him joining Newcastle should the club renew their interest. "No, not a prayer, I couldn't do that," said Redknapp after Portsmouth's 2-0 defeat at Sunderland on Sunday. "I said I'm going to stay at Portsmouth. I wouldn't be able to show my face again, I'd be finished. "I made a decision and that's it. I'm here and I'll stick with it and get on with my job at Portsmouth now." Never seen Baggio so desperate.
  22. You're getting far too upset over this. This is the way Africa have organised their football calender. No matter how much you twist and whine, they won't change it. Do you hear African football fans complain because the winter Premiership fixtures interfere with the build-up to the ACN? Thought not. Hehe, i'm not getting upset about the ACN schedule, i honestly don't care, i'm sat around on the sofa at home and thought it was a vaguely interesting convo, what irritated me was you preaching to me about the matter, re-iterating things i already know and trying to make out that i'm proposing sweeping reforms of the African game! I just expressed a couple of ideas! Grief, are you on all the other threads telling people their opinions are irrelevant as they're not actually going to make a difference at the end of the day "however much they twist and whine" or have you just chosen to on this one because you mistakenly believe your soap box stance makes you seem more politically conscious?! African needs might become more powerful as thier players become more and more key in the Euro game. Just a thought. Totally agree... In fact i agree most opinions in this thread are pretty reasonable conversation points on a massively contentious issue - you can see why there has been no change as there are groundswells of opinion to support all arguments and counter arguments. It would be good if they could sort something (another IDEA, and very unlikely i realise, would be something like having World Cup every 4 yrs and then Copa America, Euro Champs and ACN the summers in between - that way, players would get the odd summer off which they constantly whinge about never having in Europe, all tournaments would get sole exposure on their summer and the world cup would remain as is). Not bad. Of course the money sucking thing that is the Euro game (light years removed from the original ethics and simple emotional alliances of yester-year) would be the main source of resistance.
