  1. Well spotted. Same thread more careful wording at the onset.
  2. Big Sam is the man most of us wanted, someone to sort the club out from top to bottom with excellent organisational skills and a true vision regarding the support staff, fitness and player relationships. He is one who builds from the ground up. But what is going to happen if results on the pitch are variable? What if the style of football (looking ok so far) isn't what is expected by the Toon faithful? After all he wasn't the choice of the current owner who might have his own ideas about who the manager should be. Will Sam be given enough time and what how long should that be?
  3. My god you must smoke crack! Sneijder will be THE next world class midfielder to take the world by storm. He's been playing in the dutch senior team since 2003, and has 126 appearances in the Ajax first team with 46 goals; capped off with a 20 goal season last year. I've often wondered what it is with Americans always accusing those they disagree with of smoking crack. Anyway, he's already widely regarded as a very good player, I don't think there'll be all that much 'taking the world by storm' until he moves to one of the glamour teams however. Andy van der Meyde was the last BIG thing to come out of holland look what happened to him when you put him in a BIG team. This is the thing and part of the explanation why some of the Dutch boys are so reluctant to leave the little pond.
  4. Emre isn't fit to shine Deco's boots imo. There are flashes of brilliance from him of course and he has a nice touch on the ball, just isn't penetrative enough with his passing....When it isn't wildly off target of course.
  5. I don't really expect them to do it. But if some did it might be a nice gesture and a signal to others (young supporters) that life isn't all about taking. Many of the ex-Leeds players and their huge wage demands is part of the reason the club got into the mess it is now and Risdale of course. Ironic that we are having this chat in the Michael Owen thread.
  6. Agreed. They do need to give back more, for instance all those former Leeds players who were earning a fortune there a few years ago...Where are they at Leeds time of need? so you worked in a company for 10 years which gave you good salary, now you have moved onto a bigger and better company. if the old company goes bankrupt because of improper managerment are you saying you will donate some money to it? if you don't, then its wrong on your part to expect rio to do that. if you do, then you have gone mad Yeah it's madness to want to give something back. It's what billionaires spend most of their time doing. I guess all that money has driven them mad.
  7. They should sell all their houses, cars and designer clothes and that, and give all the money to Ken Bates of course. Someone like Rio going off his wages just over the last 4/5 years must have £15-20m in the bank. Even 5% of that would come in handy to Leeds in their current scenario.
  8. Agreed. They do need to give back more, for instance all those former Leeds players who were earning a fortune there a few years ago...Where are they at Leeds time of need? What are you suggesting they should do? They were employees, not fans. Didn't Bellamy help some Welsh club out recently?
  9. Hey now... What? It's slang for 'you're right'.

  11. Have to get the mind right for success to follow imo. So surely while he is injured again, we need to try and get behind him and not start talking about off-loading him This is true. But don't you think we've stuck by him long enough? I dont think so. Some people are still sticking by Dyer and wanting him to return and he has done far more to deserve our lack of support. Granted it is bloody frustrating how little we have seen of Owen but to date he has done little to suggest we shouldnt stand by him I thought he took a fair old time to swear his alligance to us this summer.
  12. It's Samir isn't it? Yes, I was subtlely trying to make them sound English by shortening their first names but clearly that didn't work and now I'm writing this pointless statement saying what I meant originally and probably boring whoever is reading this sentence right here so I'll stop before I go too far. Samir sounds far more skillful than Sam tbh.

  14. You say that now but when he comes back and scores, You will make a new thread preaching how Owen is world Class I doubt it, for one he isn't a world-class player anymore, although his finishing abilities are, and secondly, he'll never play for us again because he's always fucking injured What's wrong with him coach? Too much footie when he was younger has weakened him is one theory. I really don't know. His earlier injuries, i.e. the hamstrings and groin injuries, were down to his acceleration, running style and growing body, all that pressure on the body at the same time was too much for him basically. As he's gotten older, learned how to run properly and to exercise his hamstrings, groin and calfs, he should really be in peak condition. But luck has deserted him in recent years it's fair to say. His last injury was a pure freak one as was his foot injury away to Spurs, while his new injury is a direct result of not playing for so long and the efforts he's exhausted to get back to fitness, again his body couldn't cope with the demands. I fear he'll forever be hit by one injury or another after another in the same way Dyer has been or Woodgate. What makes cases like this all the more baffling is if you look at Shearer - he has had more injuries than Owen, yet he's never really been troubled by a succession of them. How, and why? No-one quite knows why. I actually reckon mental well being has a major part to play myself. Owen hasn't been happy for years... The last point is part of the pic I reckon. These days there are whole books on the mental aspect to regular injuries or loss of form and fitness. Aye, I'm a firm believer in how powerful mental well being is, not just in football either. Very powerful stuff that can pretty much determine the outcome of anything or conversely, screw you good and proper. A lot of people see it as mumbo jumbo but positive thinking and a state of well being mentally is they key to prosperity in whatever form it comes under. The mind is very complex. blueyes.gif Have to get the mind right for success to follow imo.
  15. Van Der Vaart is already world class imo Sneijder will be in a few years Nasri has potential but needs to leave Marseille soon VDV has everything right now and a tremendous free kick on him.

  17. Can't see him in the poll options. Can't see D'Allessandro either. I presumed you included all suggestions in the thread. Miguel would be a quality signing. It's my poll. D'allesandro doesn't quite cut it and Miguel isn't a playmaker as such. Good player mind.
  18. Can't see him in the poll options. Cause he's not a playmaker.
