There's a difference between saying 'our performances in the FA cup haven't been anywhere near good enough and that's something we're trying to turn around' and 'I've been really, really unlucky in the FA cup'. One is the words of a manager who constantly bluffs and gives nothing but excuses. He could have said many different things on many occasions that would sound like him taking responsibility for the team he manages without saying 'I'm a shit manager'. In what way? We're proud of our players and want them to do well. I don't say we overrate our players anymore than English fans overrate English players. American players are still highly undervalued and disrespected by many fans and clubs in this league, for whatever reason. But for the most part, American players have enjoyed successful PL careers whenever they've come over. Sorry this is really, really, REALLY wrong I can't think of an England fan on here or in 'real' life that rate many if any England players let alone overrate them. We are cynical/negative or apathetic by default when it comes to our players. The support of the national team has been in sharp decline since as far back as Euro 96. I would say the general consensus is the other way round, most English people think English players are massively overpriced rubbish who always bottle it when playing for the country. Even players as good as Gerrard and Lampard struggled to put in more than a handful of good performances. We maybe have half a dozen players in the last 10 years who have been able to perform at the level they should be capable of at international tournaments. Thing is, they've acknowledged that last summer was a disaster but are doing it again with the "We brought transfers forward in January" excuse. They really are thick as pig shit. The guy that acknowledged it was a disaster has left though.
