  1. These sort of quotes really worry me. Loads of us could see what a tidy player Marveuax was from a few minutes last season. To be fair just about every quote about or from Pardew seems to worry you.. I don't think his handling of Marveaux has been so bad, giving him plenty of time to get back to match fitness after a number of serious injuries. We were all frustrated when he seemed to do the same with Hatem last season, yet was complimented later by the player for his handling of the affair. Nothing worries me as much as the football we've been playing for most of his time here.
  2. I said ages ago that he's a future captain, might be a little bit soon for him now though.

  4. I'd rather give him the rest of the season off with a view to him coming back than lose him completely like, that would involve buying another player though.
  5. Pre contract for the summer won't help anyone. Except us, after the summer.
  6. Please get a result lads, even a spirited draw would be good at this point.
  7. Well this is absolutely fucking ridiculous.

for gods sake, as if what Ian said was even remotely offensive

If QPR agreed a fee at least we'll know exactly how much it'll take, would make sense for us to just have bid that amount as soon as we found out he turned them down.

Yup. See the sad thing is the majority of owners really aren't all that different from the majority of fans in how narrow minded they can be as far as hiring a manager goes. The first reaction when you suggest a change in manager on here is usually, the typical 'who can we get that's better?', which always baffles me. It always seemingly has to be someone everyone has heard about that is a proven success already. I gurantee if people had suggetsed Laudrup, had he not already gone to Swansea, he would likely have been rubbished by most, as having not proven anything anywhere. The priority though should really be to look at the manager's approach and philosophy, and the potential to marry this up with the clubs current assets etc. Although I can't necessarily name them all, I have no doubt there's at least a handful of managers that can come in and make far better use of the players we have, and implement a style of football that is bettersuited to them, than Pardew ever could. It's been quite unacceptable from Pardew really. and another good post.

A 'particular style of play' to me refers more how easily and well players of lesser ability can slot into the team and do more than simply make up the numbers. Lots of teams can do this effectively, by which I mean they don't instantly turn to the turgid 'kick the ball as far as possible from our goal', ultra-negative play we've seen so regularly this season and even parts of last. Pardew's philosophy to date seems to be that if all of our best players aren't available then we simply can't do the same things, and I don't buy that. Some have excused it by saying we can't play good football with Williamson and Simpson in the side, but we managed it perfectly well during those six wins in a row last season in which they both played every minute. Sorry, Simpson was taken off with 8mins left against Stoke at 3-0. As I've said however, the ludicrous 11 purples thing doesn't help him at all. great post

The conditions may have been excellent in terms of the team being mostly populated with technical footballers (remind you of anything) but he was following arguably their most successful and popular manager into the job, the pressure was on. He's gone in with a positive attitude though, to the football, it's the opposite of Pardew who just shits himself at the mere hint that the opposition might be able to score a goal and sacrifices any sort of attacking intent because of it.

Glad to see we've reached the 'well no-one else could do any better' stage. Lunatics.

When i saw that in the arsenal game i assumed it meant "please no more goals conceded" but he later went on to say in the post match that he was saying no more goals for us please. Pardew pointed towards the opponents goal and said 'get it up there'. He was talking about the ball, I assume no more no more was about short passing.

"Danny, no more, no more, get it up there".

He should have, but Pardew needs to tell them it's their responsibility to make themselves available every single time Krul's got it. He won't.

I would like to see him roll it to the fullbacks more, that's just basic football imo. That's not particularly what I was getting at though. When the ball is played back to him more often than not he has to kick it long because he's under pressure and all our defenders are too. This comes about because we make very little effort to work our way up the pitch as a team by passing and moving. All too often the other team can press us without us being able to pass it around them and make them pay for it, and we just knock it back to Krul. It's this sort of stuff the 'it's Simpson and Wiiliamsons fault' crowd don't see. If we had an intention to pass our way up the pitch, we'd practice it, if we practiced it we'd be able to do it on a match day and when teams stepped onto us we could make them pay. We don't do any of this and other teams know it now. We need options just ahead of the ball, not one option 50 yards ahead.

You need only notice how many times we resort to playing it back to the keeper to see that there's absolutely nothing happening in terms of playing our way up the pitch as a team. Coloccini does it all the time.

If Pardew was anywhere near 'striving' to play football we'd be implementing it on the training ground. Have you seen anything to suggest we are?

If a player doesn't do what he's told you don't play them and if it wasn't down to the manager, why did Ben Arfa, Ba and Cabaye who regularly attend training think it was down to the manager? Who do you play there instead ? Is it Pardews fault we have no one to play instead of Williamson, we have tried Perch, Raylor, Tavernier and Simpson there, none of them have made any improvement. Your reply would be valid if Pardew persisted with these players whilst keeping Debuchy and Taylor on the bench and lets be honest Taylor is still not the answer. Do you have any idea how Poyet managed to get Brighton playing passing football despite having footballers who are Championship standard? They're a highly inconsistent championship side, and have been for the duration of Poyet's tenure - I think you're barking up the wrong tree with him. I agree we need a manager with the attributes you've quoted, but you've based your opinion on two games against us as opposed to his managerial record in full. I have to agree with Mick's earlier post, think that really hit the nail on the head re our predicament. I'm quickly reaching breaking point, and have completely lost any enthusiasm for this season. The QPR game was one of the worst matches I've ever been to, and that's been followed by one of the most embarrassing performances I've ever witnessed yesterday. Also, the inevitably of the Everton loss was so galling its untrue - I really don't think Pardew has an idea what he's doing. Look at the majority of managers of teams in the bottom half. Most of them have players who wouldn't get into our teams, yet they are able to perform in the premier league due to an understanding of the system and philosophy that their manager is employing. They seem to have a style fundamentally understood, and players know what they are doing. The majority of footballers are simple beasts and are able to play to their maximum if they understand what is being asked of them. Look at Wigan, most of their players are individually poor and wouldn't get anywhere near our team. However, they all seem to understand what they're doing and play some terrific football at times. Imagine what somebody like Martinez could do with our team? Similarly look at West Ham, Norwich and Fulham - they just look better organised than we do and appear to have a system that all of the players understand. Our lot look like they've never met each other before and that's the fault of the coaching staff. The injury excuse is bollocks for me, because they've looked like that for the duration of pardew's stewardship with the exception of 6/7 games from the end of last season. Ideally I'd want to replace him, but I share everyone's concerns about the club's ability to replace him with anyone other than some cunt like Kinnear

This, and I've been saying it since the beginning of last season.
