Looked a 4-4-2 to me from Vuckic onwards.

I know he values being compact and hard to break down above all, and I really appreciate it considering how easily teams have broken us down in recent years, but there MUST be a way that we can be solid and achieve some sort of rhythm going forward. We basically rely on Hatem skinning 4 men, Cabaye playing a wonder ball or the strikers feeding off scraps. Last season in a 4-3-3 we were knocking it about really really well and making progress up the pitch.

I wouldn't take much notice of people calling for Perch to play, it will be the same ones who wanted us to play Tavernier until the Atromitos away game. It's nothing to do with Perch being a great attacking right back. It's everything to do with him being just as good defensively and the fact that he can pass the ball. On the floor. To our players. Like a footballer. Simpson can actually do this, I've seen him do it when Pardew takes the shackles off and we have more bodies in midfield to take the ball, but in a 4-4-2 Simpson isn't good enough on the ball and shits himself every time.

6th, I don't expect the Europa League to affect us that much to be honest as we'll either be playing the squad members or out of it.

To be fair it's his job to get them fit and play then in a system that gets the best out of them.

If we finish 7th, there's almost no chance of keeping hold of HBA, Cisse, Ba, Cabaye or Tiote imo. I see what you're saying but for all of them to leave they're going to have very good seasons no? Because they need to go somewhere, to a club that wants to buy them based on good form? If they all have good seasons it's likely that nufc will have a good season, no?

It's fine for now, but a poor season and it'll have backfired on us. Aye, but like Ian W said above; there are probably very few other managers around that would work with Ashley under these conditions. You could question Pardew's pride and morale, but as things stand, this way of running our club seems as if it's working to a suprisingly great extent. I'm happy with it for now. I just hope it doesn't turn ugly when Ashley decides it's time to cash in for sure. We've gone three windows without selling any player who hasn't expressed a will to leave. Should be about time within the next year. Doesn't this suggest that a window where we do 'cash in' is the exception?
