Pretty much my thoughts as well. I like Pardew but I'm still not convinced coaching passing football comes naturally to him. Other than that though he's a top bloke. I used to think he was a proper cunt before he came here tbh. I'm hoping that the passing football will come in time, he's got 8 years to figure it out now. I think he's pretty committed to self improvement and some day he'll feel confident enough in the defensive stability of the team to start opening up our passing game a bit.

This. Finish 5th and sack him, get innnnn. George Burley got Ipswich to 5th... It's not uncommon. Lets just see people's opinions come May. He's proven himself a good manager, if he's backed with reasonable funds he'll do well.

I've got my issues with Pardew but in general I think he's done a great job and I'm all for a bit of stability. Particularly like the backroom staff as well, it's good for Krul to know he can work with Woodman for pretty much his whole career if he likes him etc etc

Was great to see! Such a rarity under Pardew it has to be said. Fist thing I said to me dad when that went in was 'we won't score another goal like that this season'. It's one of my major gripes with Pardew. Weird, given at West Ham their game was always about getting Etherington and Newton (i think it was) down the wings whipping balls in. Game has changed a bit since then though but with two capable and strong strikers we don't get do it near often enough. Aye that's what I can't understand. If he wants to play 4-4-2 (which he clearly does) he needs to sort out the service to both Ba and Cisse. Shearer and Ferdinand weren't a great partnership, but they were both great goalscorers that thrived on excellent service. Give the same to Ba and Cisse and we'd see a similar outcome IMO. Indeed

Dont jump on me for saying this ,but isnt that what Jonas has been like in his worse games for us? He has changed his game the past 2 years, and he added an end product too, but early on especially in the relegation season near the end, i swear this was written about him (the bold bit especially!) That´s the point. Almost everyone complains whatever he does when we have tons of other players that isn´t exactly setting the world on fire. So what? What you're proposing is a never ending circular deflection of blame which results in nothing getting done and the squad not improving. He's not good enough man.

Irrelevant, people are giving opinions on his form at the club so far. I know, but I don't see how current form is irrelevant. He's shown more so far in the few chances he's had This season than some of the players people are clamouring for getting the chances he's had, i.e. the likes of Sammy, Vuckic, Marveaux. I'm not sure what you're on about here like. His 'current form' is trash, same as his form since he's been here. He offers nothing but slowing the game down, making wrong decisions and failing to get a decent cross in on the odd occasion that he does manage to get past a full back. Shane Ferguson came on and did in 30 seconds what Obertan couldnt do for 90 minutes. Saying he's shown more this season than those three doesn't carry much weight at all imo, Sammy's barely played, Vuckic plays in a different position and Marveaux's had one shit 45 and very little else in the league. Above all that it's not just recent form that we've got to go on with Obertan, he's looked fucking hopeless from day one with 1 or 2 exceptions to the rule.

Yeah with Gosling, Vuckic, Willo, Shola, Harper, Simpson and some others so we won´t have any players left. Because playing with 5 men is better than having Obertan at the bench. Nice straw man. Obertan's shit.

It's still likely that from tonight's games, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool will progress. We missed our shot in the late 90s/ early 2000s where few sides took it seriously allowing the likes of Leicester/ Boro to win it. Too many of the top teams fancy it now. I'd only feel like underdogs against Arsenal, that's one team. Spurs are still a better side than us. Chelsea are still in it as well. That's a matter of opinion, are you telling me we'd be underdogs against Spurs at home?

Don't think that's the case (or at least it certainly isn't with me). Just don't see why you wouldn't want to get most bang for your buck. It's to do with team balance, something we sorely lack.
