Nah, he was regularly in the Hookah place next to the Dog and Parrot during his stunning run of form, he'll be reet.
-
Hahaha, get in.
-
Loads of tickets gone already for Bordeaux, think we'll get a canny attendance.
-
Pardew's made Shola bearable by limiting him to sub appearances, if he starts getting regular games it'll be torture again.
-
I brought this up after he got a back spasm before the Man U game but was ignored amongst the James fun, he's been getting intermittent thigh and hamstring strains since then.
-
Ahh is that where he's from, had no idea

What is Brendan Rogers accent all about?

He can be much, much worse -
Agree with the above. Pardew set a really good foundation last year in terms of defensive solidity, it's time to build on it or we will go backwards.

yep im tired of seeing him putting his foot over ball while shielding the opponent from the ball with his body and basically just standing on the spot doing it not moving, Ba was guilty of doing the same thing. if you havent got a team mate to pass to, dribble away from your marker and look for a pass, what they did today was just lazy standing there all macho with their foot over the ball shielding, whilst backing into their marker almost like waiting to get spooned. its fair enough if we were winning and needed to waste some time on the corner flag, dont bloody do it when its 0-0 or 0-1 down ffs. You mean trying to hold the ball up and retain possession until teams mates are available for pass or would you prefer he ran down a dead end and lose the ball in a less macho fashion ? what i mean is look up look around team mates arent that far away, try turning, spinning away from your marker, football is pass and move basic stuff unless you're limited. I think if the option was on he or Ba would do that. Villa were closing us down quickly. ba and jonas were doing it for no particular reason, at times they did it when they could see a team mate to pass to, other times instead of beating their man who was on them they simply stopped dribbling, stood there and did that foot over the ball bullshit, lack of fitness perhaps, the jonas and ba of last season would have kept dribbling. Jonas does it week in week out Retain possession and hold the ball up? It's his default play, stand on the ball and shield it. It's fine sometimes, it doesn't make sense when there's no-one to shield it from, just buys the other team time. Cant say ive ever seen him hold the ball up shielding it from no one. Ill have to watch for it. It doesn't actually happen - so you'd be waiting a while. So you've never seen him receive the ball or run onto a ball that's gone astray and decide to shield it in anticipation of being closed down rather than look to pass or move with it? He does it quite regularly. Far too many smart arses on here nowadays. I'm not slagging him off, I like Jonas but it's a clear feature of his game.

He did mention in an interview that he'd be willing to play anywhere so yep, think we have our RB if Simpson's out for a while. If Anita's happy to play right back Simpson should be irrelevant.
-
Yeah, after 38 mins when Simpson went off.
-
If he doesn't want to play full back long term he went about it the wrong way today, he was great.
-
It started off as 4-4-2 then we lost all of our shape and it looked like like a case of every man for himself, the formation will not work with the players we've got and sticking to it is costing us. We didn't make a tactical change after 20 minutes, we went to pieces. No offence, but you're wrong We 100% moved to 433 after they scored, and then moved to 4312 before half time. You could see Pardew shouting the instructions out when Simpson went down injured. 4-4-2 until Simpson came off on 38 mins imo.
-
For about the millionth time, we played 442 for about 20 mins and swiftly changed it. Maybe the players have to be more accountable for some of their lethargic performances. We played 4-4-2 until Simpson came off, so that would be 38 minutes, pretty much the first half. We persevered with 2 up top for 90 minutes though, and it didn't work for a fraction of that time.
-
What did you think about our formation and tactics today?
-
Absolutely correct, our play in 4-4-2 is based on getting it wide and getting a cross in but we don't have a consistent crosser of the ball in the team. Add to that the fact that we've got two right footers on the left and only HBA on the right and it just isn't working. I'm really worried that Pardew isn't addressing any of the issues that we had last season, it was glaringly obvious that we needed more attacking cohesion and to stop relying on wonder goals or strikers feeding off scraps. We were uninspiring going forward today at the least. The result isn't the end of the world but the performance needs to be much, much better.

'can spot a good player'. So can my mam.
-
Eh? Are we thinking of the same game? We were bloody great at Swansea last season.
-
Based on what? We finished above them last season, their squad is worse, our squad is the same.
-
Created nowt, at all. Were gifted two goals and clearly unable to change their plans when 1) Swansea equalised to make it 2-2 and 2) Swansea had a men sent off. I know Swansea are a good team but the mackems were shocking.
