Henry played on the wing before becoming a striker. Ben Arfa can play on our wing. After some time he may then 'graduate' to his supposed preferred position upfront. Is that a good enough explanation for you? Not really, two completely different situations. Not to mention two completely different players; one who was absolutely made to play CF in this country. Hatem doesn't like playing on the wing because that role comes with defensive responsibilities. We're just going to have to accept those limitations, embrace the fact that his attacking talents will shine more out there, and slowly he'll adapt, hopefully. It was worth it for Robert, who disliked running nevermind defending. It's worth it for Ben Arfa too imo. That goal is fucking incredible.

They're also about not spending money where they think they don't have to. They got Ba for free, so it's pretty understandable IMO that his agent might have got their way on a few things. I've been saying this since the news broke Dave amidst people maintaining there's absolutely no way Ashley would agree to a release clause. Imagine if we lost our most prolific strikers two January's in a row, eurgh. The club have got a major decision on their hands now over whether to improve his contract or not, because there'll be offers for him at the end of the season, release or not.

He's looked like he doesn't have any since he arrived. He may have had some at some point but he doesn't have any ability to go with it, so we'd never know. Didn't he say that his confidence was low from his time at OT and never having a chance to be in the matchday 18 each week? Would suggest that this was discussed as part of the transfer and Pards promised to give him a run in the team...he just needs to earn his corn by managing Obertan properly now - if he keeps sending him out to do nothing and get slated, the fans are going to continue booing him () and his confidence will drop even more. Fair enough, I don't remember him saying that about his confidence. I've always said I don't agree with booing any of our players but it's completely Pardew's fault imo. Even if he promised him a run in the team, the team is more important.

Pleased with him today for making the Obertan change really early in the second half and making us a better team. Just remember what happened when you're picking the team next week Alan.

It was a positive change, aye but cheering like that will destroy his confidence/fragile mind. He's looked like he doesn't have any since he arrived. He may have had some at some point but he doesn't have any ability to go with it, so we'd never know.

If Pardew's willing to give Ben Arfa a run on the wing but wants to continue with the policy of protecting our worst full back, Jonas should be on the right. We'd also get more crosses in and create more space this way. We don't need to go into this game defending. -
There's people who post on here regularly that fall into that category tbh.

Krul Simpson Williamson Colo Santon Jonas Cabaye Abeid Ben Arfa Shola Best we need to make the pitch as wide as possible to make space and get crosses into the box for the lads up front who need all the help they can get. this is a game where attack is the best from of defence, QPR aren't very good, make our extra quality count going forward and let the back four/ abeid worry about defending (it wont happen like, we'll play narrow as fuck and the front two will stutter all game and be forced to feed on scraps, without Ba's talent to turn them into real chances) -

In all seriousness if what to do with Obertan is a selection headache after the last two games then Pardew should be sacked on the spot. -

good news for us, Faurlin's a decent player imo. -
Then he should actually try to play football instead of what ever the f*** he is doing out on the pitch, that he even gets money for doing it pisses me off. Pardews responsibility to take him out of the team. Absolutely. If the penny doesn't drop for Pardew today then I'm going to have to conclude he's permanently tripping on acid.

Hopefully today is the turning point.

Bloke on the radio 'the milk man's horse could do a better job than him on the right wing. If I had his pace I'd never have got married'

To be fair a lot of people would agree with that with his recent performances, just timed the comment really badly He turned the corner a couple of games ago from his bad form. Obviously I didn't see the game today, but he's been bloody awful since October. You and your ludicrous love for him. he was our worst player against Man U imo

We'll win this like. We struggled against Swansea and WBA but QPR are nowhere near either of them. -
absolutely. as stupid as Pardew's persistence in playing him.

Hard to say for definite, wasn't on telly anywhere. But from the off it sounds like we had a lot of possession and created tons of chances. Hit the bar, at least two cleared off the line and 13 corners. Their goal was against the run of play so a win - though fortunate the way it came right at the end - sounds like a fair result. You just forgot to mention that it's sounded like Ben Arfa's goal was something special Amazing you're right, the doom and gloom was ridiculous with over an hour left, sometimes wonder why people bother typing out so much negativity I agree, the negativity was OTT. However I think there's a lot to be learned from today, get the wings working and we'll look much more of a threat.

removed at 56 minutes....we pile pressure on and score 2. howay alan, you know what needs to happen now. That's two games in a row we've got positive results with him out the way.
-
Jonas and Ben Arfa swapping wings will create chances for them though, I think Jonas could do it from the right. Pardew just needs to swallow his pride and make it happen. Shola and Best up front is no good, though. It was plain to see against QPR. We need a striker so badly it's ludicrous. I agree, just trying to look for the best case scenario with what we've got. We haven't carried a significant threat from out wide all season, add that and Best/Shola might be able to find more space in the middle.

ridiculous how many corners he won, seemed like loads once he was on the wing. clearly causing them problems. commit to improving yourself Alan and swallow your pride.
