  1. We're not called 'Northern Rock', based on what's on our strip. Are we? we're not called sports direct FC either. no-one complained when the stands were re named. No, but the stadium will be referred to as 'Sports Direct Arena', on TV and in the media. That's my point, which you knew, of course. but the people that matter will still call it SJP. unfortunatly the people that matter, if they want to wear the clubs colours have to advertise some other company. I don't know what you're getting at. Do you just want an argument? Because I can't be arsed. nope, just pointing out apparent double standards as i honestly can't see why one is seen as terrible and the other tolerated if not encouraged. It's a bloody terrible analogy, you're comparing micro details to macro details. it's more a question of being honest. the name change will actually have less effect than the shirt sponsorship. think match days. no-one outside the media will use the name, you don't say in the pub "what time are we going up to St James' park ?" but you can't help but notice the sponsorship on every single top. the only thing with the shirt sponsorship is that A) people have become accustomed to it, and B) we weren't the first major club to do it. honesty? being honest about your own subjective opinion you mean? your whole post is based on the assumption that everyone's annoyance with the name change is based on how many times they might hear or speak the name of the stadium. mine certainly isn't, it's based on the fact that the name of the stadium has been officially changed, that's bad enough for me to hate it no matter how many times i have to hear or speak it.

  3. We're not called 'Northern Rock', based on what's on our strip. Are we? we're not called sports direct FC either. no-one complained when the stands were re named. Something was put on the strips, the name of the club didnt change. Something was put on the stadium, the name of the stadium didn't change. Now the name of the stadium has changed. Can you see the difference?
  4. one of the reasons i started following the packers I didn't know you were gay? I don't mention it much on here
  5. one of the reasons i started following the packers
  6. great news but we still need Tiote and one of Obertan or Marveuax back before any hope of a result over the next two games imo

That he's worth f*** all? Righto. It's easy for him to say that now aint it. Wasn't worth f*** all when he was banging them in every week for us thats why liverpool wanted him so badly. Plus all that nonsense at the time about desperately not wanting to sell but andy handing in a transfer request etc is all proven bollocks then if these quotes are true. He did hand in a transfer request though. yeah but if these quotes are true then they clearly got the best deal they could then went to andy and told him "your sold" There could realistically never be any doubt that this was the case,Carroll still took the money over refusing to leave like, but no footballer ever stays where they're not welcome. The fact remains we didn't have to accept any bid though.

A meeting? Or just a chat in a bar?
  10. I think you're right and that's before you even factor in Marveuax's injury
  11. I met him in 91 when he was at the peak of his powers and he was such a nice person. I was 7 and he was my hero, he took the time to have a chat and share my bag of midget gems. he told me he used to hide midget gems in his socks while he was training with England because bobby wouldn't let him eat them :-) Really hope he gets better.
  12. Wish he'd gone to man u instead of spurs, could've been so different for him.
  13. Still love Gazza like, was an absolutely incredible footballer but unfortunately is an extremely vulnerable bloke.
  14. aye fair enough, ignore list time
  15. It's the opposite of interesting, proper hardcore yawn. Well yes and i'am due a afternoon kip, this may help me along. Try this, better than nytol... http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php?action=profile;area=showposts;u=10709 Nah its more fun/boring to watch people who support the same team, trying to dissect each others degree of support because they go to more games, live closer, used to support another team when they were 4, may or may not agree with the Fat man, are or aren't a Geordie and being dismissed for being a Southerner. Funny as we all love the same thing. I was only joking with you Bimpy man. backtracking!!! he's backtracking!!!! Probably best that you did delete your original post and quote mine as nobody would know what you were on about. posting logistics burrrrrrrn :'(

  17. i was referring more to him saying that St James Park would always remain as the official stadium name when asked, but yeah there's a few examples
  18. He's as good as said that anyone interested will get the advertising space Sports Direct currently has. Unfortunately for us, what he says is worth absolutely nothing. Why? It's completely reasonable for any new stadium sponsor to have their name plastered everywhere and not Sports Direct. I'll tell you what else is reasonable, he's a liar.
  19. there's nothing there that reads as if i'm advocating selling players for profit. i responded to you asking how he cuts costs even more by saying he could make profit on players instead, it's really as simple as that.

  21. How have I made it look like I'm desperate? You said he could cut costs so that so we don't need to rely on sponsorship money, I asked how as we've cut as far as we can and you suggested selling Tiote and Cabaye. Now if the club are almost running at break even then the club don't need to sell anyone unless they see a better player available for the same money or even cheaper, so how would it compensate not having sponsorship money? Perhaps you should try and word things better if you want to get your point across without confusion. Sigh, right, one more time. I was suggesting ways that Ashley could compensate for the lack of sponsorship money in order to have SD on the shirt and more exposure for his brand which I believe to be his priority, at no point did I suggest this was what I thought should happen or that it would be good for the club. You've made yourself look desperate by attributing that view to me when I never once stated it and then compounded the issue by claiming I was back-tracking.
  22. i said he could cut costs to compensate for the lack of shirt sponsor money in order to put SD on it, you said costs had already been cut as much as possible, i said he could make up for it by making profits on players. nowhere in that exchange did i suggest it as the right course of action and anyone who's read any of my posts on just about any subject ever knows that's not my outlook. carry on making yourself look desperate though if you like.
  23. right o, i think you're right and the deal's already been made.
  24. of course, i've been saying for months that the amount of exposure he can get for SD by doing exactly what he wants with NUFC is a good trade off for the original investment he thought he was making when he bought the club. that kind of exposure of the length of time (as long as he wants) would be worth an astronomical amount.
  25. yes......but based on the recent DL comments (some people still take him at his word) if the stadium renaming is indeed to showcase the branding opportunity in order to bring in further funds then we can take it that bringing in funding is the most important role of the stadium aside from the fans paying to get in to watch the match? if that's the case, why not make even more of the money we so desperately need (to buy a striker) by selling the sports direct boards and signs?
