  1. Can we change the thread title to Man Utd bummed in the face by Barca? That was great. Apart from Puyol being the most annoying wanker ever in that second half.
  2. I wrote this before my computer crashed : United need to bring Tevez on for either Anderson or Giggs who have both done nothing. Especially Anderson, what's he actually supposed contribute? Doesn't score, doesn't get forward that much, can't tackle... he's neat and tidy on the ball but that's not much for £16m Vidic has had a nightmare too. Ferdinand showing he's head & shoulders above him yet again. Maybe everyone will jump off the Vidic bandwagon now.
  3. I hope that works out. Don't mind Southampton, they definitely deserve to be higher than the 3rd tier.
  4. Not sure we need a striker that would cost a lot like Martins. A cheap, promising youngster would do me. How would we keep Martins, Yak and Saha happy? Even if we played two up front you'd have to drop either Cahill or Fellaini which would be a problem. Agree on the centre mid and wide player though. Moutinho was linked again the other day which would be great but I'm not sure how we'd afford that deal. You see Saha as a first-teamer? I've got to say I'd ideally use him as an impact sub. Yeah, someone as expensive as Martins wouldn't be essential, but how much can Newcastle realistically ask for? A young quick striker that would get around a dozen from the bench/occasional starting role would be good enough probably. I don't think Anichebe/Vaughan are really gonna make it - albeit the latter has more promise I think, if he stays fit. And I think in the long-term, we need to drop Cahill to move forward (from the first XI). We need to adapt to a slightly more technically sound style of play, whilst maintaining defensive resilience and general team spirit. I couldn't thank Cahill enough for what he's done for his in the past few years, but he is not the answer long-term. That said I'd still be happy to see him in a 4-4-1-1 formation. I'm just saying if we are to look at 4-4-2, he certainly isn't the answer. I think we should have another go for Obinna; was very disappointed to not get him last year, for some dubious work permit-related reason. I think Cahill has improved his passing a bit this season and personally I wouldn't ever drop him because his presence on the pitch is massive, he really drives the team on with his spirit & work rate. I think the stats back up how much we miss him when he's not there. I wouldn't switch to 442 either. It just does not work with our players and for me, that's been proven several times. I think we'd need an expensive overhaul of the squad to be as good a side in that formation as we are with a 451. The style of football has already improved in the last couple of seasons and I expect that will continue if Moyes is able to get Moutinho or someone of that ilk over the summer.

  6. Said in the paper that Portsmouth & Wolves have balked at his wage demands.
  7. Never seen him play but I think he was top scorer in France last year.

    Talk Spurt- again...

My memory is shot like. The one I remember from 93/94 Graham Stuart scored the goal to keep them up, I think, I think. Yeah, I was on about the 98 one..... when Mikel Madar scored. Gareth Farrelly, actually. Parry is so embarrassing. I'd just like to point out that he's not a scouser, he's from Chester and that 99% of blues think he's a tit as well. really?? I seem to remmeber madar scoring a header against coventry, no? anyway, i think i got myself muddled up here. Farrelly (one of the worst players I've seen for us) scored an absolute screamer and late on Barmby *spit* missed a pen. Dion Dublin then scored a header to equalise which meant we relied on Chelsea to beat Bolton. Is that the same Farrelly who played for us? I always confuse him with Dave Farrell. Yeah, I think you might have sold him to us actually.

That was the first game of the season between the two of us, I think. First match at the Reebok as well. It was wrongly disallowed for offside (although I am adamant that Nathan Blake fouled Big Nev anyway) and we ended up staying up at their expense so loads of their fans are not exactly on good terms with Everton.

  11. He was supposed to be going to Inter the other day. Has anyone seen him play? Must be a bit special to have those two sides after him.

  13. Don't start that one up again.
  14. Not many people feeling brave and going for Cardiff then?
  15. I think West Brom are a dead cert for promotion. Then it's any one of about 10 teams for the other automatic spot and the play offs.
  16. I don't see why he'd fail miserably at all. Did a decent job at Coventry keeping them up against the odds for a couple of seasons before they ended up going down. He then turned Southampton around and got them to the FA Cup final, now they are in League One. He's also Celtic's most successful manager since Jock Stein and managed to get what is a relatively shite team on paper into the knockout rounds of the CL. Old Firm fans being impatient mongs and hounding him out shouldn't be counted against him. He's not one of the greatest managers in the world but he's not half bad either. About the best Sunderland could realistically attract.
  17. Becchio is the one to buy from Leeds, not Beckford.
  18. He's crap. Pompey must really be skint signing Blackburn cast offs on free transfers.
  19. FYP. Didn't realise there were so many Catholics on here.
  20. I think Mancienne will go back on loan to Wolves in the Prem, if not a better side. I saw us and Villa linked the other day. For centre half Rob Jones from Hibs would be a decent, cheap buy. He's a man mountain that just sticks his head on everything and is wanted by a load of Championship sides this summer. He'd do a job in the short term and then revert to being a squad player when you go back up. I think Ferrie Bodde would be a great buy as long as he recovers from his injury ok. You could do worse than raid Swansea who have got some cracking players. I really like Paterson at Burnley as well.
  21. Absolute wanker. He'll have his orange face all over the media again now throughout the summer, like at the start of the season, when he was the worlds greatest manager in waiting.
  22. Not around here there hasn't. Arsenal can't even afford him anyway. There was a rumour they wanted Yobo because he's 3rd choice now and out of contract soon. Anyway- if you stay up, which I think you will, then you can hold on to Bassong. Even if he does eventually leave at least you will make a healthy profit on him. Is that you Mike? So it's Everton, not Spurs ey? I meant on the off chance you go down at least you've got a healthy profit which will buy you a centre half more than good enough to get promoted. If you stay up then the club just need to dig their heels in a bit and he will stay.

    Darren Ferguson.

I don't think Coppell would take the Newcastle job. He walked out on City years ago because he couldn't handle the pressure and is a bit of a strange character. I don't think he would want to deal with the expectation levels of getting NUFC promoted at the first time of asking. I still think you'll stay up anyway mind.
  25. How much was Motta? He went downhill at Barca, did nothing at Atletico and was available on a free in the summer with no decent clubs interested. Inter are stupid if they have spent any sizeable fee on the guy based on nothing more than one good season after a few years of shit performances and attitude problems.
