He's worth double that. He also just wouldn't sign for you. I think £8-10m was talked about in the summer when we were after him as well. -
I imagine he'd leave Wigan for Spurs because he'd want to play for a bigger club. It must be shit slogging your guts out on the pitch and your team getting good results but knowing that you'll never get more than 20k fans in even the best of times, that you'll never be mobbed by the away end after scoring a goal because your club only brings a mini-bus full to other grounds and that the atmosphere at your ground will always be as flat as a witches tit. Dunno how kingdawson can turn his nose up at the guy though

That's my bet fucked. How can you not beat their second string? Feel sorry for anyone that went.

When we signed Shearer, where did the money come from? Where were we in terms of league standing? Fair point we were one of the best teams in the country when he signed and we got obviously found the money from somewhere to make it happen. This arab bloke has waltzed in with loads of cash to spend and he wants instant success so he's prepared to pay through the nose to get the big names in. He's clearly not prepared to build things up slowly and if they've got the cash to make a real go of it then that's their good fortune. We signed a raft to players for big money to get to and stay near the top of the League and they're just starting the process. At least part of the money for Shearer came from later sales of Sir Les, Huckerby, Kitson etc. True, but at the time I remember lots of fans saying very similar things about us signing Shearer as I'm reading today about Kaka. It was jealousy back then and it's jealousy now. Don't buy this 'bad for the game' stuff. City are about to raise the (financial) bar and it's up to the other clubs to compete. If they can't, City could dominate in the same way Man U have done for the last 15 years. It's not just raising the financial bar though. It's launching it into another planet. The world's highest paid players at the moment are on around £150k a week but even the more conservative estimates in today's rags were claiming they will double(!) that figure for Kaka. It's obscene and will have a knock on effect for every other club in the top divisions around the world. Even Chelsea weren't anywhere near this bad when Abramovich went on his initial spending spree. It will have a knock-on effect yes. They obscene money they're shelling out is going straight to other clubs to spend on alternative players. They aren't giving it to charity, they'll be giving it to the clubs who can spend it on strengthening their own squad at the expense of losing one of their top players. The City transfer fees will eventually trickle down the divisions so from that respect I'd argue it is probably beneficial to the game. There's 2 ways of looking at it imo. Possibly, yeah. With the transfer fees anyway. When I said a "knock on effect" I was thinking more of wages really. It will cause a lot of unrest and higher pay rolls at all the clubs. Why is Kaka worth 300k a week but Ronaldo, Messi, Gerrard etc are only getting half that amount? Likewise with Bridge earning 90k while the likes of Clichy, Lescott etc are on 40-50k and so on and so on until lower league clubs are getting hit in the pocket.

What did Kinnear say about Appiah? Oh and the spurs itk reporting that Appiah has rejected our 6 month contract offer and is looking for a longer deal. 1878 i think we asked for Baines or Lescott tbh. With Bale apparantly being loaned out, i guess lb is a priority (redknapp has said before that we're short on left backs). Would make sense from your end. Both of those players are non-starters from our point of view though. I don't think Moyes is particularly taken with Baines for whatever reason but he's our only natural left back and always plays well whenever he gets a chance in the team. As for Lescott, unless you were offering Jenas plus £10-15m then it's just not going to happen. Actually, no. I still wouldn't be happy with that deal!
-
The daft cunt probably asked for Arteta or something ridiculous.
-
That'd do me. If he gets a 6-month contract and goes on one of those runs to try and earn a longer contract, then brilliant. Likelyhood is we'll still be in the Premiership. Yep, no harm in that. Wouldn't have been averse to taking a gamble on him ourselves- he's happy with a short term deal and has pace which we are lacking.

The Curse of Quashie Asking for trouble if you sign him. -
All I remember about him is that he's really fast and had a brief spell of scoring bucketloads in the SPL when his contract was running out which got him his move abroad.
-
Hull have won 1 in 13 and are probably the worst team to come to Goodison so far this season. You want kicking if you don't win this one.
-
Games at the JJB are always lifeless. The place has got no soul.
-
not this year, but give them a couple of years i really think they could go all the way, atleast challenge til the end.. especially when SAF retires from Man Utd. But they will never win the league with players like milner and luke young in the starting XI. I think this could be Villa's best chance of the title tbh. They'll naturally keep on improving, but no way will Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal drop as many points as they have done this season again. Plus Man City will more than likely be knocking about from next season. Why won't Arsenal drop as many points? They're really not that good. Been on the slide for several years now and Wenger shows no sign of fixing the major problems that have been obvious for a while now. He seems intent on cutting his nose off to spite his face. More likely to sign the Uganda U-21 captain than an experienced midfielder, just to prove a point.
-
He's not a particularly dirty player. The treatment he gets from referees is shocking, other teams are given a license to kick lumps out of him every week and he constantly has two men wrestling... sorry, I mean "marking" him at set pieces. While on the other hand some of the stuff he's been carded for is ridiculous. Is it any surprise he'd had enough yesterday and lashed out? It's been going on all season.

The one that won big brother, thick as f*** but he is all heart really. ? Haha I never knew Blessed was a Newcastle fan!!! get in what a Legend! Gejon is thinking of John McCririck, who was on BB ha ha. He never won it though! http://news.sky.com/sky-news/content/StaticFile/jpg/2008/Jan/Week3/1635127.jpg http://www.facepalm.org/images/03.jpg

I wouldn't call Stoke the North West. It's an hour from Derby. It's also an hour from Liverpool. Bang in the middle of the north west and the midlands. Faye could easily still be living in the north west. Didn't half get some power on it Referee in our game was a disgrace though. Didn't have a clue from the first minute to the last. Came out of the ground pissed off with him rather than happy we'd won.
-
He lost it in spectacular fashion there. Absolutely bizarre. What's he going to be like when there's actually some real pressure on him?
-
Hasn't been shit at all Was brilliant in his first couple of months at the club until he got injured and lost his place to a combination of Jags' emergence as a centre half and Lescott taking to left back like a duck to water. Since then he's only been in the team when others have been injured or suspended. Subsequently had some average games because he was rusty but is playing every week at the moment because Yobo is out and is playing very well. I really hope we keep him. I like our team better with him at fullback and Lescott & Jags in the middle. Think Moyes prefers to have Yobo in the side though, he's our longest serving player and is supposed to be getting a new long term deal soon.

Are our fans the most uninventive lyrically in the league?
1878 replied to David Icke - Son of God's topic in Football
i noticed they were singing some song tonite to the tune the scousers sing to there torres song. Who probably nicked it of someone first, it was johhny cash last time. That bugs me, now england stoke and god knows who else sing that ring of fire as well. It was Man Utd's song before Liverpool, for O'Shea of all people, going back years ago. Then the redshite made the Torres version. Like they stole our Arteta song for that 'best midfield in the world' crap and we in turn robbed the tune from somewhere else which probably wasn't the original either. I wouldn't worry too much about who was first. We Shall Not Be Moved is an old Everton song, over the decades the first part of the song has been dropped and it's now just a general chant that literally everyone sings. Pretty much any chant that catches on at a club will be taken by someone else. -

God, I hope not. There's no place in our XI for him anyway. -
Whats up with your other right backs? Injured? You have about 3 don't you? They're all s****. I think Gunter would be a much better bet than an over the hill Finnan but Arry won't give him a run. He'll pad out the team with fading stars like Finnan and Appiah as he's done everywhere else.
