That's what I hate about the new breed of stadia, they're so f***ing bland. The Emirates is a superbly furnished place to spend an afternoon in your leisure pursuit, there's no doubt you'll be comfortable, but it is every bit as soulless as the Riverside, the Reebok or the Ricoh. Everton's Kirkby plan (forgive me, I'm behind on developments there - in fact, fill me in on them if you've got time) looks like the worst of the lot. Goodison may be decrepit in parts and unserviceable, but it IS Everton. Clubs seem happy to sell out that kind of history a little too easily for my liking. You're right mate, the Kirkby stadium is bloody awful. Thankfully it has gone to a public enquiry where it is being torn to shreds for breaking loads of planning rules and doesn't look likely to go through. It's basically a massive scam to let Tesco have a monopoly in that area and fill Kenwright's pockets with millions in extra cash when he sells up. Any other set of fans would have driven him out by now. Ours are too stupid/apathetic.
