Sorry I thought you meant Pape Diakhete Apologies here
  2. You better not attempt to rekindle your fond memory of Peter Ramage. You have bad memories. You do need your lord to help you. You think England should play 442. But you praise Pearce's first half 433. Ok it is not really relevant. But how is Pearce's 2nd half 442 mishapen and weird? That a winger (Routledge), or 2 if you include Young not performing well does not mean that the formation is mishapen. In your words England did well in the first half with 433. You should give credits to Pearce and say he got the tactic right.

  4. If you are perfectly honest, then you are really perfectly blind. Leighton Baines had a bad game defensively. How he impressed you I don't know, just like how Ramage impressed you I don't know. And this is the first time I heard that England playing 442 is a weird and mishapen. Many Kudos to you for your audacity to go against the general opinions that England should always play 442

For a forum regular who follows Newcastle United avidly, it is shocking that you have never heard of him. No I am not teasing, there was strong rumours linking him and us and there were reports in the Chronicle and Skysports. Glenn Roeder even flew to see him personally.

Don't you think Big Sam needs to sign Christian Postilla, Diego Bisewar, Benoit Costil, Vincent Kompany and AVB too?

Wow, how do you know my secret of scouting !!?
  8. Just found this. Thanks for the website Macbeth! You have contributed enormously (indirectly) to this takeover. Thanks again! I will need to change my signature soon once the takeover thingy settles.

He will give us much needed quality cover the rest of the season. The benefits more than offsets the downside. But then if we get Tal Ben Haim we wouldn't worry about anything.

We were rumoured to be after him. So I went on to investigate him.

We shoulnd't get Thuram in though. Though he is vastly experienced he is quite slow and clumsy nowadays.l Pape Diakhete is the way forward.

  13. Miss the first 20 minutes and the last 10 Scott Carson - A pair of assured hands - 8 Justin Hoyte - Goes forward well - 7 Nedum Onuoha - Uncomfortable at times - 6 Gary Cahill - No nonsense - 7 Leighton Baines - Goes forward well but defensively shaky - 6 Kieran Richardson - Inconsistent, greedy and selfish, but audacious - 5 Nigel Reo-Coker - Great engine, but wayward shootings - 8 Tom huddlestone - A gentle giant, teddy bear Michael Carrick, not really useful - 6 James Milner - Some good crosses - 7 Ashley Young - Dissapointing considering his last game - 6 David Nugent - Wastes many changes - 7 Wayne Routledge - 6 - Quiet Stuart Pearce - 8 - Got his tactics right and got his soldiers playing a high tempo English game. Would have prefered him to partner Reo Coker and someone else in the middle but in overall decent performance from the U21
  14. The defenders suffer lapse of concentrations by remembering the existence of RVN?
  15. Good signing for Sunderland. The fee is a bit high for Sunderland and it is a tidy profit for Reading but Halford is a good young proffessional with great physical conditions still with plenty of playing potential.
  16. If the release clause is not there Owen wouldn't have joined us.
  17. When he decides to switch on the invisible mode he appears lazy.
  18. It is very very easy, and of course a favourite pastime, for fans to slate a poacher type striker for being lazy. A poacher has to go invisible during games so that he is not noticed and tightly marked by the defenders. It is best if defenders totally forgot about his existence. RVN, Owen, Trezeguet, Inzhagi, Larsson, Fred etc are all lazy strikers. When fat Ronaldo is lazy he is really being lazy because his game is not about going invisible and strike out of the blue. But it is very unfair to critise Trezeguet for being lazy when it is his duty to be lazy. Only a poor and bad poacher striker does not appear lazy.
  19. I'd agree with that view. There is an argument for signing a youngster after having seen him at the World u17 Championships, there may be a kid there who has slipped through the radar, but at the Euro u21's?? Any scout worth his salt would know all the players in all the squads. But you need to see if a player has got the temperament to do well in big stage.
  20. I haven't got such impression myself. I would be extremely surprised if any Newcastle fan will say no to him if offered a chance though. Top top player with excellent ball control even better than C. Ronaldo, and a better range of passing and shooting. He is difficult to handle though.
  21. Quaresma's talent and ability is well publised and well known. He will cost a lot, and he will not come to club of this statue anyway.
  22. I don't think it is particularly helpful if we sign a flair player just to prove that we intent to win something. Realistically we won't win any trophy even with a trophy signing this coming season and raising everyone's expectation too much will only heap pressure on the team. The crowd will soon slag off the squad if we fail to win anything. Rather Sam and his team be pramagtic than overambitious.
