  1. True but when you have stupid, simpleteon chairman like Freddy Shepherd hopes for success for lesser clubs is rather limited. On the other hand if you have competent, ambitious management there are always hopes and indeed there are. Just look at Arsenal, Spurs and Everton.

    Martin O'Neill

David Moyes, Sam Allardyce, Alan Curbishley, Mark Hughes, Roy Keane, Aidy Boothroyd are all known for restructuring the whole club! David Moyes - Been in the club for 5 years, steadying the ship and pushing the club forward gradually. Academy has been flourishing under him Sam Allardyce - Mark Hughes - Build a one of the (maybe the) highest qualified backroom Roy Keane - Bring in reputed coach and physio Aidy Boothroyd - The extent of his work is not much known to me except that he has brought in Keith Burkinshaw as his assistant manager and his scouting is extensive judging from the players he brings in. All these managers work without Director of Football. Steve Coppell and Martin Jol work with DOF. Not to knock MON off any credits but I don't being involved in restructuring the whole club is a big deal. Even Roeder is supposed to be involved in similar activities.

  6. Terms agreed with Spurs. Has his medical next week . That's from his agent. Younes Kaboul at the same stage of progress. Looks like Levy has finally opened his wallet!! How many strikers do you really want? Assuming Defoe is gone come this summer Berbatov, Keane, Bent is still a very good set!

    Serious question

I aint going back to check It would be nice if you could prove it, since you are running an accusation? Some people (not suggesting you) are going beyond jokes everytime someone mentions an obscure player by suggesting that the player must be drawn from FM. But if this is trully the case then the names of Saivet, Millar, Bisewar, Van Borren, Ekoko etc the "true" FM wonderkids would have been mentioned more frequently. It makes me laugh loudly when the supposedly "obscure" players are not even good or great in FM. BTW, Karate Kuyt I agree with what you have been saying in this thread.

Sam Allardyce? David Moyes? Mark Hughes? Martin Jol? Maybe Steve Coppell, Aidy Boothroyd, Roy Keane? I don't think MON is that great as some others might think, I think Allardyce, Moyes, Hughes, Jol, Coppell and O'Neill are possibly in the same class with minor differences. But I can't agree that Glenn Roeder is better than MON

Am I the only one who thinks that Samba could be a new Bramble? Good defender with costly miss here and there, except that Samba's frequency of misses will be much lower?

  17. Robson is a known quality manager who has a history of good transfer dealings whereas Souness doesn't. If Shepherd is prepared to hire Souness then Shepherd needs to be willing to support him financially.

  20. Winner Club Manchester United - Premiership Winner. After few years of failure this title is more important than ever for their world wide status and reputation. Reading - Massively overachieving, without spending any much money during the summer. Portsmouth - Overachieving without spending much money. Manager Alex Ferguson - Prove everyone who think he is finished wrong. David Moyes - Prove the very few idiotic Toffee fans who booed him after they lost to Spurs, who think he is negative, useless in transfer market, tactically naive, stubborn wrong. And he prove himself in big style with astute signings, cautious and courageous tactics. Steve Coppell - Goes without saying. Player Christiano Ronaldo - Win over everyone after his world cup antic. Didier Drogba - Massively improved player despite his persistent diving. Manuel Fernandes - 2 loan spells at 2 different clubs with massive success. Loser Club Chelsea - Have a very admirable season on the pitch even though they could end up with only Carling Cup. But the ongoing board room bickering has tarnished the club's image. And with so much money invested no Champions League Cup = failure. West Ham - Illegal signings, relegation, massive spending, boardroom takeover. Charlton - Appointed the wrong manager, and back him with lots of money. Manager Alan Pardew - Kill his own club, fail to utilise top class players available to him (Tevez + Mascherano), and fail to rescue Charlton. Glenn Roeder - Make tonnes of promise and excuses. Deliver nothing at the end and resign/dismissed. Iain Dowie - Spectacular failure in transfer market. Player Andrei Shevchenko - A season to forget. Damien Duff - A season to forget. Souleymane Diawara - A season to forget a target for ridicule. Bonus - Championship Winner Club Wolves - Sack a losing manager and replace him with a winning one. Sunderland - A thoroughly revitalised club. Colchester United - Overachieving without spending money. Stoke City - New manager, new board, good results Manager Roy Keane Mick McCarthy - Repair his reputation with spectacular style. Tony Pulis - Unconventional transfer signings and unexpected good results = 2 fingers up his old boss. Geraint Williams Player Gareth Bale - The main attacking threat for Southampton, no mean feat for a 17 years old left back. Michael Chopra - Big impact on Championship after leaving Newcastle United. David Nugent - England call up Loser Club Leeds - Administration, relegation, Ken Bates, Dennis Wise, Leeds United Luton - Manager & Boardroom bickering, relegation, selling all their best players. Manager Phil Parkinson - Fail to deliver results for Hull despite his reputation and heavy backings from club Peter Taylor - Fail to live up to his reputation David Jones - Spectacular nosediving after his club topping the table for a while

    Kevin Bond

Congratulations to Kevin Bond for what he has achieved in Bournemouth, ie keeping them safe from relegation.
  23. You may not believe that he has resigned but fact is he has. He could be well forced and pushed by the imminent axing were he to persist but fact is he takes the comfort road and resigns. After so much talks of he won't resign there is no turning point. He has written his own epitath. Kieran Dyer was a captain, albeit for only a day! Most people will have feelings and passions for the clubs they have played for. Even a difficult person like Dyer has a passion for Newcastle United, if not he wouldn't have made the effort to customise a X'Mas greeting T-Shirt for the supporter. For what it is worth Glenn Roeder has said before he is a Hammer first and foremost. I agree with you that he wasn't really given enough funding but even so he didn't really do well with the 15M he was given. I could accept that a rookie manager will make blunders in the transfer market. But Roeder isn't a rookie anymore. Worse still he makes a lot of noise on how he is going to be cautious and visionary in the market. If you has told the whole world, repeatedly, how good you are you have to accept the bitter reactions if you couldn't deliver your promise. Same goes for Freddie Shepherd.
