  1. When watching FA Cup semi final between Man U and Watford, I recalled the commentator saying Keith Burkinshaw, Boothroyd's assistant manager, would be flying to Argentina soon to watch 9 games in a week for scouting purpose. If only Roeder or his scouts could do the same and unearth some rough cheap diamonds for us.
  2. Shocking shocking news, wonder if Arsenal will still be the same - ambitious, progressive, resourceful - without him? Skysports
  3. Sorry everyone what the complete question should be "If you could swap Roeder with another premiership manager outside top 4, who would be your choices? Select up to 3"
  4. And you a Geordie? It definitely does show ... what are you trying to say about Geordies ? The benevolent, omnipotent, most revered, most exalted, Geordie Patron that is St Freddie Shepherd has said that Geordies ladies are dogs. What I am trying to say is simple, you are a bitch. Consider this as a compliment as it is St Shepherd's opinion.
  5. Which 3? For me 1. Aidy Boothroyd Always positive, always articulate, extremely intelligent. An excellent man manager, even though his Watford is relegation bound, his side always give a thorough fights bar the odd few games. This, a sign of excellent man management, excellent motivation skills, excellent leadership quality. He has youth at only 36, he has also got experience on his side with Keith Burkinshaw. He has shown he is a good transfer operators with findings like Rinaldi, Priskins, Hoskins + Williamson, King, Williams and Foster (loan). He's made a few mistakes but he is learning from them and has showns signs of progressions. 2. Roy Keane Ruthless and resourceful with youth on his side. Excellent transfer operators. So far of all the players he has brought in to Sunderland, vast majority of them make a positive impact to the team. Make his team a replica of Manchester United - attacking minded with steel and grits aplenty. 3. Mark Hughes Excellent man manager who has tamed problematic players like Bellamy and Savage. Excellent transfer operator who has brought in players like Samba, Nelson, Bentley, Khizanishvili, McCarthy, Mokoena, Jeffers, Ooijer, Warnock all on (very) cheap fees. If there is any downside he seems to be a bit tactically simple.
  6. How did Edgar do as left (or right?) back?
  7. Adebayor head and shoulder above Baptista. That Luton Shelton is a real find.
  8. And he has shown enough for me to think that he has the POTENTIAL to be better than Carlos and Cole eventually!
  9. Everton - Mikel Arteta, Leon Osman, Andy van der Meyde Bolton - Stelios Giannakopoulos (Why has he not been playing much this season?) Porstmouth - Gary O'Neill Tottenham - Steed Malbranque, Aaron Lennon, Teemu Tainio Reading - Glen Little, John Oster, Bobby Convey, Seol Ki Hyon Aston Villa - Gareth Barry, Ashley Young Newcastle - Charles N'Zogbia, Damien Duff, James Milner, Noberto Solano, Kieran Dyer Man City - Darius Vassell, DaMarcus Beasley, Trevor Sinclair Blackburn - David Bentley, Morten Gamst Pederson, Sergio Peter, Brett Emerton Middlesbrough - Stewart Downing, James Morrison, Adam Johnson Wigan - Kevin Kilbane, Lee McCulloch, Luis Valencia Fulham - Wayne Routledge, Simon Davies Sheffield - Alan Quinn, Keith Gillespie, Stephen Quinn, Colin Kâzım-Richards Charlton - Darren Ambrose, Jerome Thomas, Dennis Rommedahl West Ham - Matthew Etherington, Luís Boa Morte, Yossi Benayoun, Lee Bowyer Watford - Hameur Bouazza, Tommy Smith, Lee Williamson

    Zidane's Son

His name is Enzo Zidane The Spanish translation of "son of Zidane" is "hijo de Zinedine" Do it yourself ...
  11. How is that crazy? It is my prediction and opinion. By the way, I think Ashley Cole has regressed after he went to Chelsea ...
  12. Is Gareth Bale talented enough to be the next Giggs? I doubt it. Giggs and Ronaldo at this age are already world beater, I think Bale still has someways to go. Unless he improves dramatically I don't think Ferguson would see him heir to Giggs. Surely after Ronaldo, Ferguson would rather a proper class winger to succeed Giggs? Arjen Robben could have come but he was stolen by Chelsea. I think Nani of Sporting Lisbon is a better candidate then Bale. Stick Bale to left back, he will be a world class left back better than Roberto Carlos and Ashley Cole eventually.
  13. And you a Geordie? It definitely does show ...
  14. Rossi "shite-ness" here = Boumsong "shite-ness" here? :idiot2: Boumsong is not even doing well in Juventus for god sake. If Boumsong is doing well in Juventus what's the problem of resigning him, provided the fee is reasonable? I take it you wouldn't want Distin here?
  15. I take it you wouldn't want Schevchenko, who has done fuck all in CHelsea, here in Newcastle United?
  16. That's a good plan. I sayid this long time ago Get Gerard Pique - Doing very well in Real Zaragoza Giuseppi Rossi - Starting every game for Parma Johny Evans - Doing excellently for Sunderland
  17. Not talking about the manager, nor the chairman, nor the club structure. Purely about the players this time. Obviously we must always look to improve our squad but how? Who? Why? Where? If we have a scan on our current players Forwards Michael Owen - 27 Shola Ameobi - 25 Obefami Martins - 22 Albert Luque - 29 Andy Carroll - 18 Antoine Sibierski - 32 Midfielders Charles N'Zogbia - 20 Damien Duff - 28 Emre Belözoğlu - 26 Kieron Dyer - 28 Scott Parker - 26 Nicky Butt - 32 James Milner - 21 Defenders Celestine Babayaro - 28 Steven Taylor - 21 Peter Ramage - 23 Oguchi Onyewu - 24 Paul Huntington - 19 David Edgar - 19 Noberto Solano - 32 Stephen Carr - 30 Keeper Shay Given - 30 Steve Harper - 32 Tim Krul - 19 I omit O'Brien and Pattison as I don't think they have future in this club. I leave out Bernard, Bramble and Moore because it is apparent that they will leave after this season. We don't have an old squad, nor a young one. So we have no need to start purging senior players yet. It is glaring that the department most lacking quality is our defense. Babayaro not good enough, Ramage not good enough, Carr not good enough, Huntington and Edgar going out on loan, Onyewu and Taylor not really good enough. The only reliable defender is Noberto Solano. We are in desparate need for a new quality central defender, preferably with leadership qualities, to lead and partner Taylor. Onyewu can go or stay, if he stays he would only be a 2nd string defender. I'm inclined towards him staying, as his height could prove useful in certain situations. The priority, the big signing, the trophy signing come this summer should be an excellent central defender, ideally in his mid twenties, nearing his peak, can lead the line and more importantly could settle in immediately. This sounds like a big ask, but that's where the careful and thorough scouting comes in and how a huge chunk of transfer fee (10 to 15M) could be justifiably spent. Then, get a forward minded left back who could support the left winger well. We shouldn't get rid of Babayaro and Carr as yet, as I doubt we could find their replacements easily without breaking the bank. After spending so much on the new central defender and left back, relegate B & C to second string. Meanwhile, we should keep pursuing quality Bosman players. Well done Glenn for not missing Sidwell out. There are other good bosmans players too and we would want shot if we don't throw our weights around. Here is a list made by someone else Sylvain Distin Steve Sidwell Sanli Tuncay Javier Saviola Yidiray Basturk Claudio Pizzaro Tal Ben-Haim Ivan Klasnic In the long run, we will need to rid Babayaro, Carr, Onyewu, Sibierski, Butt and Solano. But we could do these in next January and next summer. Assuming Sidwell coming to Newcastle this summer, within a summer our new squad could look like Martins, Owen (Sibierski, Dyer, Ameobi) Zoggy, Emre, Parker, Milner (Duff, Sidwell, Butt) New, New, Taylor, Solano (Babayaro, Onyewu, Ramage, Carr) Given (Harper) This, certainly, is a good squad who capable of challenging top 6.
  18. we are talking about striker preventing a team being dominated or the board and their glorious achievements? So will a striker, be him Henry, Rooney, Berbatov or Tevez, prevent us from being dominated?:lol:
  19. And you are right. A striker will stop us being dominated for the entire game How come West Ham are still being dominated week in week out with Tevez in their side??
  20. If I am being honest I would vote Christiano Ronaldo for both awards. But taking politics into account then perhaps Drogba as player of the year and Ronaldo young player of the year would be more appropriate, after all it is always a close call between Drogba and Ronaldo this season. Both scores vital goals, both are unstoppable, both are easily tripable. I am actually surprised that Ryan Giggs and Steven Gerrard are included in the list. Granted they have been sterling this season, I thought Frank Lampard deserves the nomination more than them. Lampard scored 21 goals for Chelsea this season. Regardless of how he fare for the national team in the premiership Lampard is as good if not better than anyone except Drogba and Ronaldo.
