    Wes Brown

Coming from my pal who frequently questions me if I have seen any players (I suggested) live

    Gooch Onyewu

Out of the american national team I would have Howard, Friedel, Gooch, Bocanegra, Spector, Dempsey, Adu,Bobby Convey. Most of them on the bench only though
  3. It seems like only Ramage played well in the game. It's worrying to see Huntington not performing.
  4. Don't know why people are laughing at Ramage. It may well be the general concensus that he isn't up to desired standard but here you have someone who gives his all, someone who is eager to offer his service. Welcome back Ramage.
  5. I am very impresed by this bit. Well done Glenn. Great minds think alike
  6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Kuranyi If Roeder is scouting all over the world, How about this guy? Never seen him play, never heard of him. But he has got very impressive scoring late in Bundesliga. Not old too. Would cost something though I would imagine.
  7. Isn't it better this way? At least Spurs cast the net wide and are interested in a host of ggod players. Might miss out the majority but by chance or percentage they will get a few eventually. I would rather this way than simply just targetting a single or 2 players and risk losing all at once and resorting to panic buys like us.

    England

Scolari = Moderately decent :idiot2: I agree with you though regardless what others may say (especially Northern Monkey) England still have a group of players good enough to seriously challenge for the world cup. Who sohuld be our manager? The best manager available definitely, but prefarably English (excluding Scots, Northern Irish and Irish), after all the world cup is a tournament that pit a country against the other country. England is a country with sizable population and it would be a joke (hence it is now) if we can't come up with decent local manager managing the national team. The criteria for the manager: 1. English. English players trained by English manager to represent English country. 2. Able to pick a team. With a wealth of players available he should be able to pick the strongest team al Sven Goran Eriksson (his short fall is in other areas not this). Last thing we need is the persistense with Robinson in goal, P.Neville as left back and Dyer as right winger. 3. Ability to motivate. Ability to coach is less important as the England manager does not have much time to coach anyway. More importantly he should be able to motivate the players. 4. Able to play to the strength. English players are well educated in physical battles and less in ball retaining. It would take ages to upgrade the players' ball playing ability yet it only take a few seconds to surrender large chunk of physical advantage due to a switch of playing style. Where does McLaren lies? He can do 1 nicely, do 4 to a certain extent, but he has demonstrated that he can't pick and motivate. I would much prefer Sam Allardyce and Paul Jewell than McLaren. Luis Aragone is a racist grumpy donkey with medicore club record but at least he is Spanish, he can motivate, he can pick and he sticks to Spanish playing styles. Same things go for Klinsmann and Lippi except that the latter has an excellent club record. Domeneque is another funny looking donkey (just like McLaren) but at least he knows how to pick players and formation! I am willing to support McLaren as he is already appointed but I have never thought that he would be any outstanding English national team manager, unless he changes in the future.
  9. Edgar, if I really have to make a decision. Pattison has had a handful of top flight games and he hasn't impressed. Edgar has had scarcer opportunities but he has impressed. I don't know much about their performance in the reserve though to be honest.

    David Edgar

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Huntington http://www.carling.com/football/newcastle-united-football-club/paul-huntington.html http://www.timesandstar.co.uk/unknown/viewarticle.aspx?id=263768 Huntington has won the "Wor Jackie Milburn" award although to be fair David Edgar isn't a north east native. Would definitely love to see someone who has seen them first hand to shed more light and compare their current abilities and potential.
  11. You have successfully winded me up. :wind:
  12. How about Julio Arca? He hasn't got much physical presence though he is not tiny by any means. Nor he is fast. But he has football intelligence and passing abilities, so far he's done a very good job water carrying for Boro despite being a left back by trade. But Solano probably doesn't have the stamina and leg to run the midfield whole match. How I wish Solano is 10 years younger!
  13. Nobby Solano as centre midfield ala Julio Arca situation. Do you think it is a feasible situation?
  14. Improving on a shoestring - Can it be done? Yes it can be done. I have suggested many times that we buy in (on a cheap) lots of promising young players surpass to the big teams. If the players turn out crap than ditch him. If they turn out good than hey we pick a gold out of sand. However my idea isn't warmly received here I think. Free transfer is also what I like. If Sibierski and Bernard would cost transfer money than I wouldn't have bought them. If they won't, I would. Sibierski turns out to be a useful player and although Bernard doesn't, we didn't really lose anything. Of course, free transfer should not replace proper transfer.
  15. No, I am aware for him but apart of being promising and seems good what history does he have that Chopra doesn't?
  16. Hey Gejon. I have been sitting in front of the computer since 3 and after nearly 2 hours I am not interested anymore in any forum debate, especially I don't really want to get dragged into one regarding Bellamy. Anyway, Newcastle improved with he signing of Bellamy because Bellamy was a better forward than the previous striker. IF, Andy Johnson and Darren Bent were to sign for us that time I am confident we would have improved too. Anyway, bye my :angel13:
  17. How so? Genuine question. Can you list the histories down as I am not aware of Nugent impressive history in the Championship?
  18. Define respectable? Chopra has a better history of being a young quality player at both premiership reserve level and Championship first team. On international level Chopra scored a goal in his one and only international under 21.
  19. There is no need for a sly dig over my typing mistake. If you insist that Nugent is CURRENTLY a better all round player then so be it. Obviously we have to disagree here.
  20. Ok, I'll have Bellamy over Kanu. But I won't have Bellamy over Johnson, Doyle, Kuyt and Bent. I think you are seriously overestimating Bellamy and seriously underestimating Johnson, Kuyt and Bent. On another note, I don't know if you subscribe to the "potentially class" theory but Bellamy will be 28 this year, whereas Johnson, Kuyt and Bent are only 26, 27 and 23 respectively.
  21. My arguement as I have always said is that: 1. Chopra is a better player than Nugent, currently. 2. This is nicely proven and backed up by his goal scoring and assist stats. 3. His general play is not crap so the stats is not lying. 3. Personally I think Chopra has the potential to be good enough for England. But this is irrelevant to why currently imo Chopra should be ahead of Nugent in the pecking order.
  22. 1. If this is your selection criteria than we have to agree to disagree. On this basis I suppose you won't have Bent, Crouch and Defoe in the national team too? 2. How so? Are you comparing 2006/2007 Preston's Nugent with Newcastle's Chopra, or Cardiff's Chopra?
