Have to say I was very disappointed with Henderson last night. I'd hoped him coming on would calm things down and provide some leadership (as I think we lack that badly on the pitch). He actually just worsened the anxiety in the team by being sloppy as fuck. He came on at a big moment and fucked it tbh.

Tossed it away, goal up, crowd up at half time. We come out second half looking terrified of our own shadows. Reactive Southgate does nothing until we concede which had been coming for about 20 mins. Piss poor. And those subs bringing on cold players for a gigantic pressure moment... Awful. Lots to be proud of, but feels like a huge missed opportunity.

All fair. I don't think Rice and Phillips have any synergy at all which is my main concern. It's been very easy for a lot of our opponents to play round them in spells in games because they're 15-20 yards apart. Being compact will be key against Italy. Force them out wide and let them cross if need be.

Henderson has to start, he's our best passer and balls over the top and in behind will be key for us, even if it pushes them back slightly. Just hope Southgate doesn't fall into the trap of being 'loyal'. He has to manage the game in front of him.

Does seem like we're not allowed to be excited, be giddy about being in a semi final and joke around about winning it. We're all like kids at Christmas having a decent England side.
