Second touch is a tackle masterclass from him today. He works hard and is smart tactically/positionally though, so you can't knock him too much.

Doesn't know a thing about that does our Andy. Flukey sod. -

Andy Carroll, Jake Livermore... -
Thoroughly enjoying this. Nice to be able to watch a game as a neutral without the lingering sense of dread and apathy about your own club.

Possession merchants this lot. Our mid 3 not quite on their A game so far. Nothing daft and we should get more chances on the counter.

Uncle Eddie. Class.
-
Loved it when he flattened Antonio. Proper marker put down.
-
Outside of their hard work and physicality, they don't have that much quality. We matched them in both and they struggled.
-
Has a knack of getting a touch he shouldn't in and around the box, really good anticipation in the box and in general.
-
So weird watching us play like a normal football team. It's going to take some getting used to.
-
Fair, but I like that fact he can play RW and more advanced in a midfield 3, probably on the left as well. Could be very useful for the squad if we could get him one 2/3 year contract. And he's free as well which frees up funds.

If we do stay up I think Howe will be keen to keep the positive feeling and togetherness in the squad and not demand wholesale changes in the summer. It will be interesting. I'd like to see: Botman Bissouma Targett/new LB Lingard Striker x2 (one starter and one young back up) Right winger

His synergy with Wood is comically bad. Every time they combine they lose the ball.
-
Only saw the 2nd half, bit nervy but we battled hard and made it difficult for them. Inject it.
-
It was a ridiculous challenge, seems to get frustrated at his own lack of athleticism to get close to people and it builds up into these rash moments. Makes him even more useless off the ball when he's then on a yellow too.
-
Very good, no fuss and covered ASM well. Promising.

Proper Joelinton moment. You have to smile.
-
Put Wilson in that side and it looks 100x better tbf.

7. Seeing as it's their first window in difficult circumstances it's a good overall upgrade to the squad. A few lessons to be learned, possibly, with being strung along by clubs and the lateness of the bid for the lad from France (if that's true), which does leave us a light in attacking areas. Can't help but feel we could've used that 25m for Wood a little better too... Overall a great effort and Bruno and Trippier are cracking signings.
