  1. Christ. What are Ant & Dec? 5/1? Poyet's Brighton are nothing special. I've seen them plenty and they're not exactly easy on the eye. Must have just been us who made them look good then. They played us off the park in the cup tie. I know, I was there. Both years. We were absolutely abysmal both times and they were nothing more than functional. I disagree mate, they were well organised in defence and they had good movement off the ball when they had possession. I don't think that comes by accident. They seemed light years ahead of us in organisation. I realise a lot of people don't like Poyet because of his time at Leeds with Wise, but that doesn't mean we have to pretend he doesn't know what he's doing. My Accountant has a box at Brighton. I'm at the Amex pretty much monthly. Their set up (full backs advanced), all distribution through the diagonal and kickers at CB/CM would get nowhere in the Premiership. They'd get rinsed. You have to look more at the performances we put in on both of those days and give the result/Brighton performance some context. I agree that they are organised but their movement is nothing special, nor is their style of play. I'd not want Poyet. That said, he'd not come anyway after we upset his little dwarf of a best mate, so all good.

We are in free fall, it's all about where we land. Villa and Wigan are fighting. Yeah, but we have a points cushion on both sides (Villa could cut that tonight) and they have to play each other. It's just incredibly negative to assume that we will not pick up any points from our remaining games but Villa and Wigan will. Two away games in the capital where we historically are fucking awful then last game of the season we've got arsenal who are chasing champions league while our last two home games we shipped in 9 goals and scored none. You've got to be incredibly optimistic that we'd pick up any points from our last 3 games IMO, qpr being the most likely, and again we are relying on a team to put up no fight now the are down. Villa and Wigan are playing well, picking up points and Wigan have a game in hand. Villa win tonight they'll finish ahead of us, so were down to one team, Wigan, good enough to get to a FA cup final and escape relegation 4 years running on the last day of the season (or some mad shit like that) Its not looking good IMO, I can't get positive about our situation in the slightest, my last bit of positivity left me at 3-0 against the mackems. Not to mention the 7 goals we shipped last time we played Arsenal. Our only remaining home game.

  5. Probably correct but would it be sustainable given he's only a couple of years off retirement? For that reason, it'd all be a pointless. I'd much rather take a punt on a younger man with an ability to get his teams playing a certain style of football.
  6. As if he would take a job any further north than Watford man. Wouldn't want him anyway I wouldn't want him for the reasons given but it'd be his last chance at a big club. Not only that, but he's obviously got some degree of a relationship with Ashley. This may help his case in so much as Ashley has appointed 'known quantities' in JFK and Prdew.
  7. I'd hope he's committing his future to them as, if he walks, he'll be at the front of the queue for our job with his historical links to Ashley. Whilst he'd undoubtedly get us playing better football (who wouldn't?) he'd hardly be long term appointment. I admire the recent appointments of Spurs, Swansea, Liverpool & Southampton in terms of appointing young(ish) managers who have the ability to implement a long term plan with some style. All of these Managers have a 'way' of delivering football teams who can implement a way of playing to a set plan. I'd love somebody along these lines and, possibly bar AVB, all would have been within NUFC's reach before they moved to their current clubs.
  8. Why change the habit of a lifetime? The mentality of approaching every game with the intention of not losing would have SBR turning in his grave.
  9. Taylor has already said that. See my previous post. One down, 2 to go. I'll also back 'We must give our all' and 'leave no stone unturned'.
  10. Yeap, is cliche bingo time. Sure is. We should have a sweepstake. Edit - I'd lump serious money on Shola, Saylor & Prdew spurting them out this week.
  11. Just waiting for the old favourite to come out soon.......................'3 Cup Finals'.
  12. Is this written on the basis of "how can our humiliations be deepened further? And if so, how can I mitigate my pain with financial solace...?" Absolutely bang on.

  14. Does anybody know the odds of both Carroll & Nolan scoring?

Was that issue with player bonuses all resolved last season? I seem to recall it being a real bug bear with the players. Could something like that (a behind the scenes/club policy issue) be at the heart of their lack of effort?
  16. Give it a rest. Pathetic point scoring. You invite stick when you reply to a constructive post with shite like that. I've got no problem with Ian W having his contrary views on Pardew at all but don't be giving it out when you've defended this for so long. Humility required. There was no lack of humility, my post was tongue in cheek. Your post wasn't constructive, you were pronouncing a guaranteed defeat FFS. Along with reasons why I feel we'll get turned over. That's constructive debate. I'll restrain from getting personal on this.

I'd argue we weren't all that 'joined up/in-sync' last year. We obviosuly had the advantage of new players hitting the ground running & being relatively unknown. I can't remember that many great 'team' performances. I sure as hell can't recall any form of system, style or approach to which everyone has become indoctrinated since the appointment of AP. Leads me to think................Which players have actually improved under Pardew? Genuine question because, off the top of my head, I can't think of one.

It's even more incredible when you think how good we were last season defensively in comparison. That's a side stuck with Danny Simpson in it for 90% of the time too. There just seems to be total and utter confusion in respect of shape, system and game plan. That's why I can't point the finger too much at Ashley on this one.

  20. Love the arrogance of 'Thanks for letting me know' when you've been defending this absolute fraud for months.
  21. Mo.ment.um; The impetus gained by a moving object. We're static. They've got AC bang on form. Nolan with a point to prove and a sound basis/formation/strategy. We've got 11 strangers with no desire, system or plan. I absolutely guarantee we will not take anything from the game. Oh crap. Thanks for letting me know anyway. You're welcome. You can ram that head back into the sand now if you like.

  23. My current mindset is exactly the same.
  24. The most annoying thing, amongst many, is that a draw against the Mackems would've halted the Di Canio momentum and pretty much made us safe/less exposed. I should imagine Ashley is absolutely livid that he's been essentially forced to spunk £20m or whatever in January in order to 'guarantee' safety/progress and, in reality, we seem to have regressed. More players, better quality, more depth = Regression. How is that even possible?
